I can't say I have.

Here in Texas, I've never heard anyone just be like "MAN, FUCK CANADA."

I'm sure those people exist, but I don't socialize with them.

I've heard people say racist things about the country to the south too: Mexico. However, it seems like that is "getting old" for the prejudice people, so now they move onto Canadians.

It's stupid really.

Hatred of Canadians Posted June 7th, 2013 in General

Have you noticed some people from the US may have hatred towards Canada and Canadians?

U.S., Canada, they're both great countries.

However, I myself live in the US and always have, and I've heard a few remarks about Canadians and Canada. For example I heard a friend of mine in high school say "Fuck Canada" and it wasn't a heat-of-the-moment type phrase, he really meant it. However, he did say Canada has hot girls, but everything else he despised about Canada. I know a kid who had a dual Canadian and American citizenship back in high school, and people would joke about Canada with him, even though it was more of a friendly type of anger.

I've also heard about an incident near my city where a Canadian was visiting a bar and then an American citizen started getting into a big argument that lead into a fight and the Canadian man lost a tooth and suffered a head injury. The American man apparently made remarks about Canada and Canadians.

I've also heard about how in Arizona and San Diego some of the people there HATE the large amounts of elder Canadian people moving there to retire in a warm environment.

These were just some of the negative things I've heard about Canada from Americans. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that many Americans are angry at Canadians. Both Americans and Canadians are generally nice people and some are not nice, and some are bad people. Every country has its fair share of idiots and it seems that many people aren't aware of that in this day and age.

Barney NG Movies Posted June 4th, 2013 in General

Ever watched a Flash submission on NG about Barney? Barney Flash movies used to be extremely popular on the site in 2005 and 2006, but most of them were deleted because the company that owns Barney threatened a lawsuit against NG for using their character, especially in vulgar cartoons. If you search Barney under "Movies" it will show up as nothing because the keyword is excluded from the search system.

Here are examples of well known Barney Flash submissions:

The Best of the BB 1
The Best of the BB 2
Barney Farts a LONG Time!
Cyberen - in the Finale (involves Barney characters)
Barney Bunch FBF Craze
BB Clifford Trials

Warning: NSFW. Some of these are very funny and artistic but some of them may not be your cup of tea. Enjoy!

True, but in metropolitan areas especially in California, have a fairly diverse population of people by political views, ethnicity, economic status (there are many rich people, many poor people, and many middle class people), etc.

I mean, it does not represent everywhere in the US, but the place this was filmed at is a fairly cosmopolitan place that has so many different types of people that make up the fabric of America. It's not like this community college was in a small town in Nebraska or Wisconsin where everybody would have a very similar economic background, very little ethnic diversity, very similar political viewpoints, and where most people would not be very open-minded towards things.

It was a survey. A lot of surveys where people from the US are asked are done over phone and the interviewers ask only a select several thousand of people. They try to get answers from a diverse range of people that live in the US: by what state or city they live in, what political party, what race or ancestry, what economic background, what age, whatever. I'm sure if you asked a few thousand people all over the US who come from all kinds of backgrounds and are of different age groups and live in a place that is rich or poor, and a place that is mainly liberal or conservative, it can chalk up to an ultimate answer that roughly represents the country as a whole. Will it be perfect? No, definitely not, but I doubt it would be extremely way off.

The Census doesn't get information from every citizen living in the US yet most people tend to rely on it.

I do agree on that.

Second, these students are in a junior college, and the only schmucks who go to JC are either total retards who barely passed High School, or the very cheap/poor.

I wouldn't say that JC students are really "retards." Sure some of them are idiots who go there to receive financial benefits or just go there to ''impress'' their parents and show that they are not lazy, but there are some really intelligent JC students who plan to transfer to prestigious universities, let alone any run-of-the-mill university. Then again, you did say poor, and there are definitely not a lot of rich privileged JC students as they usually transfer from high school to university. There are many middle class JC students, so it's not just excluded to poor and/or stupid ones.

And third, most of these videos and articles are heavily biased, chopped and screwed until they get the footage or story that they want, and send it out for dumbasses to absorb as a way of showing that they are smarter than they really are.

Whatever journalists conducted this study should seriously have their journalist credentials revoked.

I do agree on that. These interviews are hard to rely on but I just wouldn't see any reason for these journalists to make these students look bad. I could understand the reporters from Australia or the UK interviewing Americans and making Americans look like brain-dead idiots, which has happened before. Now that was biased for sure.

Few Americans Know 1st Amendment Posted June 3rd, 2013 in General

Journalists walked around a California community college interviewing students and people who were visiting the college. They were asked if they knew what the First Amendment is about, and only 2 out of 50 people questioned knew the exact right answer. The other 48 either did not know or gave a partially correct answer. Video

According to this article, only 1 out of 4 Americans can name at least one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment.

What do you think of this? I think a lot of people are not very familiar with American politics.

Yes and no.

He went through a lot of racism, which was bad, but the victims most likely did not deserve this at all. However, racism tends to make a human being get very angry and riled up which leads to violence, sometimes mass shootings, stabbings, and ending with suicides.

NO. Look at my post above. I am an adult and I actually never heard about Columbine until 2006, despite it happening it 1999. Many people who are younger than 20 probably have never heard of it though. I have heard and read so much about Columbine and despite it being a tragic I don't understand why it gets more attention than other notorious and tragic incidents at American schools (look up Westside Middle School massacre in Arkansas). That incident killed 4 students, 1 teacher, and wounded 10 others. The shooters were only 11 and 13. All of their victims were females and four of the students were 11 or 12. I actually found that shooting more disturbing because it involved young children like Newtown, except that it was perpetrated by young children themselves.

What makes that shooting extremely disturbing is that the shooters were released out of prison when they were in their 20s. The justice system in Arkansas found that they were too young to be tried as adults. Some school shooters who only shot and injured one student (look up Michael Phelps in Indiana), and were sentenced to 30 years in prison. Phelps was 15 at the time of his shooting. The shooters at Westside were 11 and 13 but served way less than even 20 years and killed 5 people and injured 10 others, just because they were a few years younger than Michael Phelps.

No, I totally wanted to exclude Columbine for certain reasons. One, it happened a longer time ago than any of these other attacks. Two, as a pair of kids with guns and explosives they did not manage to kill that many people (which obviously is a good thing that they did not inflict any more harm or caused any more deaths than they already did to innocent young people).

I do agree with you on that. A lot of coverage on the attackers tend to make another person somewhere commit a similar crime.

Adam Lanza, the Sandy Hook shooter, actually had a PBS TV special about him to explain what he was like as a person and why he committed the atrocities. I though it was unnecessary and slightly inappropriate because it was giving him a lot of the attention that he wanted, especially on a popular TV station like PBS.

Sandy Hook Elementary, 2011 Norway attacks, Colorado movie theater shooting attack, Virginia Tech massacre, and Boston bombings.

Adam Lanza, Anders Breivik, James Holmes, Seung-Hui Cho, and Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Which one was more evil?

Yes, we've heard it in the media so much. Mass tragedies, and it makes us wonder why people will feel so enraged to do these. All of them was intended to kill a mass number of people, whereas the Boston bombings and shootings killed only 4 people, 5 including Tamerlan Tsarnaev, and wounded 300 others, some seriously.

The Norway terror attacks killed 77 people, where Anders Breivik bombed a political office in downtown Oslo, killing 9. He then opened at a summer camp at a nearby island, killing nearly 70 people, mostly teenagers.

Adam Lanza pumped bullets on the campus of Sandy Hook Elementary, killing 20 students, 6 faculty members and teachers, before committing suicide. He killed his mom, prior to the shooting, bringing the death toll to the Newtown, Connecticut massacre to 28.

Seung-Hui Cho opened fire on the Virginia Tech campus, killing 32 and wounding 25 before putting a bullet in his head that ended his own life.

James Holmes opened fire in a movie theater at Aurora, Colorado, where Batman: the Dark Knight Rises was playing, killing 12 and wounding 58 others, many of them children or teenagers. He was arrested near the theater and may face the death penalty.

Jacket in Hot Weather = Weird? Posted June 1st, 2013 in General

Do you think it's weird or a little strange to wear a jacket or sweater when it's hot outside, like at least 85 or 90 F?

In my neighborhood there's this guy who I know who has used meth and cocaine in the past, and he has a history of very strange behavior shown in this neighborhood. He works at McDonald's and he has to walk to his job, and when I was outside I saw him wearing a black leather jacket on top of his McDonald's uniform for no reason it seemed, because it was like 90 F and everybody was sweating and it was felt very hot. He looked like he was sweating profusely (he's also a fairly heavy-set person, making him even more sweatier to heat). I also saw one other person today who wore a black hoodie with the hood on top when it was at the hottest part of the day, and I just wonder why would anybody wear that when it was very hot outside. Everybody else wore very light clothing.

Ronald Mcdonald Shot; 1 Arrested Posted June 1st, 2013 in General

I have received breaking news from the Chicago area. There was a shooting near a park in a suburban neighborhood outside of Chicago, a few hours ago. Law enforcement have been investigating the shooting and now have identified by the shooting victim as Ronald McDonald.

WGN-TV breaking news report (4:43 PM, CDT):

"A shooting occurred this afternoon outside a park in Evergreen Park, Ill., injuring Ronald McDonald. He is currently hospitalized in serious but stable condition at the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was airlifted to. The shooting happened outside Evergreen Park Youth Community Center at 1:30 p.m., where 18-year-old James Jackson is believed to have approached Ronald McDonald and shot him twice in the abdomen, according to Evergreen Park Police. The suspect threw the handgun in a trash bin and was arrested near the Evergreen Park Community High School campus one block away. The district's attorney charged Jackson with attempted first-degree murder and use of a stolen firearm during a felony.

The motive for the shooting of McDonald is unclear.

"I can't believe that Ronald would have been a target for a serious violent crime like this. As a personal friend of his, he has done a lot for our community and is a great role model," says resident Dylan Matthews. "This community is known for being safe."

If convicted of the charges, Jackson can face a sentence of 20 to 40 years of prison."

It might have sounded like a stupid question.. but there are some girls who feel confident enough to fight men, no matter their size, and these girls usually have skills in martial arts and are very athletic. But I still think it's really risky.

So much variety. Not to mention there's a small amount of Africans coming out here, as I've known quite a few Ethiopian and Eritrean refugees who decided to become US citizens and live a good life in California. It's really a mosaic of different kinds of people out here. The US in general is very diverse, but I would say CA is the most diverse state, except for maybe New York.

Why are Southern California kids usually really cool? Every time you get the chance to meet a person from there, or get the chance to visit SoCal, you always end up meeting somebody really cool while you are there. All the teenagers and young people in general, under the age of 35, and even many of the old people (usually people who are from the mid-west or east coast who come there to retire) are very very cool. I noticed a lot of people in Southern California to drive really expensive cars and dress fashionable, and appreciate racial diversity a lot! While it is a region with a lot of problems financially, economically, and socially, I think Southern California is home to real, great people!

Not to mention, most Southern Californians have never seen snow in their lives, except for the rare visit to a ski resort, but most of them prefer to avoid the snow. I've met a 40-year-old who was born and raised in Orange County and has only seen snow once in his life, and some of his friends his age have never seen it! But they see rain sometimes LOL.
