I'd recommend to anyone to play the first two games but you don't need to in order to understand the story. As soon as you start Dead Space 3 it does a recap of the past 2 games. It's not a direct sequel, either, it just picks up a few years after Dead Space 2 after Isaac has been living as a civilian for awhile.

OK. Can you tell me if the dropping in/dropping out of Carver is annoying to you in any way? I'm planning to get it anyway, just wanting to know so I won't be so pissed off when I see it.
