I have a facebook, but I'm liking it less and less. I always get people requesting me because we went to the same high school or whatever, even though we weren't there together and I don't know them. The fact that I get a good 100 or so app invites everyday, doesn't really motivate me to log in as much either.

Those small local commercials always amuse me. You think they would get better writers for those them.

Response to: Life without people Posted May 25th, 2009 in General

The only reason there would be no humans left on earth is because we killed ourselves off. So, if we nuked ourselves into submission, the world would be an apocalyptic landscape, so it really wouldn't be better off without us.

They have to be competent in order to stay in business.

It's survival of the fittest. If a business can't run things properly, keep costs down, remain productive, etc., they will go out of business.

Response to: could my situation get worse? Posted May 23rd, 2009 in General

Don't worry, it gets better. You're still young, so you have plenty of time to find a girl. Perhaps, try looking in your community for a nice Jewish girl. If you still have trouble getting a girl, you might be trying to hard. Take some time to focus on yourself and get in better shape, learn a new skill, etc. Trust me, you'll find a girl eventually. In the mean time though, live your life and have fun!

Response to: The Thread thread/survey. Posted May 23rd, 2009 in General

Title names are important. It needs to be relevant and not something stupid like "UMMMWTF!?!?!?".

I recently read this article in the Wall Street Journal about why the U.S. Government should not run businesses. The article lists the following arguments:

1. Governments are run by politicians, not businessmen.
2. Politicians need headlines.
3. Governments use other people's money
4. Government does not tolerate competition.
5. Government enterprises are almost always monopolies and thus do not face competition at all.
6. Successful corporations are run by benevolent despots.
7. Government is regulated by government.

The details of these arguments can be read in the article.

I know a number of people who say that the U.S. should get rid of Capitalism and move towards Socialism. I personally believe in Capitalism (even though it has its flaws, as does every economic system) and agree with this article, but I would like to hear other people's opinion on this.
