It's free so go download it!
If you want Mp3 encoding with Audacity, be sure to download Lame.dll to your computer. Audacity needs it for the encoding, and it's also free.
It's discrimination, of course, but not all discrimination is bad, per se. If there is a purely functional reason for the discrimination then it's reasonable, and I can understand the reasoning behind the restaurants decision.
I was forced to employ the same rule to my classroom when I taught adult education some years ago. I love children, but it's disruptive to the environment, and everyone else suffered for it. For a restaurant that's trying to cater to adults, it's very understandable that children will disrupt that environment, as most children would be, given that environment.
What they do is purposely on the fringe of harassment (they nearly measure the goddamn line where it's consider harassment and abuse people right outside of it). They are not exercising free speech - they're purposely intimidating others into breaking the law. Laws are supposed to bend and change given the need. The need has arisen against these people - why hasn't anyone had the good sense to create new laws that increase boundaries and/or allow grieving individuals further protection from them?
I'm sure there's an argument as to how that could be abused somehow, but I don't see it, yet.
Silver Surfer. Anything from the Follin brothers during the C64/NES era, actually.
It's all dependent on what comes before and after, really. From what I hear, Jazz theory is more focused on harmonic moments than traditional theory, but from the Renaissance through the Romantic era music was more focused on horizontal motion. It really doesn't make sense to say and roman numeral is ALWAYS tonic, dominant or predominant, because in every case I can promise that there is a way to make the chord function as something against it's type. If you tonicize or modulate to another key, any chord can act as the 'new tonic' (and in turn, the chords leading into it could now be considered predominant and dominant, regardless of what they were before), or if you move from a bII to a I chord it could be dominant in function (it's not common at all, but possible). Context determines what function a chord performs at any given time, that's pretty much how I feel on it. I can't really elaborate too much on it without getting into Schenkerian theory, so in a nutshell that's how I think of chords.
ii/iio stands for the supertonic, which is a predominant chord in both major and minor scales (often used in place of a IV/iv chord). In order to hear it most effectively, set it in it's first inversion - it's nearly identical to the subdominant, save for a single note. It is not a dominant chord functionally unless one raises the appropriate notes in the triad to make it so (raise the third in major, raise the third and fifth in minor), and even in that case one could argue that it's a predominant because it leads to the dominant (much like every other predominant), not the tonic.
When it comes to substitutions for predominants and dominants it's better to look at where something goes rather than something that's on it's own. Generally, the vi/VI, IV/iv, iii/III, ii/iio/bII and VII are considered predominant chords. V/V# and viio are considered dominant chords. I/i is the tonic. I can see someone arguing that III could be a substitute tonic if a song tonicized it, and vi/VI could be as well if it was used as a deceptive cadence (though I think both arguments are a little weak, imo). I would consider VII and v to be a substitute of the dominant if they resolved to the tonic (even if strictly speaking I'd be wrong, since there is no leading tone), and if used in a very particular way the bII could be a substitute for the dominant, as well (though it'd make the song sound pretty modal, then). For the most part, though, it really is just I-(EVERYTHINGELSE)-V-I.
People mentioned Jazz in here (for which I'm clueless on the theory for), so if things work differently for that theory then so be it.
Also, I doubt people care about any of this theory talk, but I like joining in because I rarely have the opportunity to talk about music theory. Most people who like theory talk about it whenever the topic comes up because they really don't have very many outlets to do so, normally, so when someone opens up a discussion on it the theorists take full advantage of the opportunity.

I'm just making a thread to try and recruit some NG talent onto this compo. It's always a blast, from my past experiences with it, and I hope some of you fine people could get involved with it, too. Rules are on the first page (be sure to read them!). Sign up and pick your themes.
I do hope to see some of you guys join in, this time around!
When I next sign in I'll be sure to take a look at the rules and see if I'm up for it.
bearing in mind that I have the NGADM and the RAC to take care of for now...
Sounds good to me - I've already done plenty of compos like it, you can look through some of my NG music to get some examples of what you'll be up for. I tend to post the rules with all of my music here, too, so there's also that.
Hope to see you there, man.
Hey everyone!

Congratulations, you're an idiot. I would think it unwise bring attention to that fact by making a thread about it, but what do I know.
Didn't make it. Actually I was kind of hoping I wouldn't, I've too much to do as it is. Good luck in tourney, those that made it in there.

I read the title as "I Fucking Hate Boobies" and proceeded to read the entirety of this thread replacing 'Babies' with 'Boobies', resulting in some entertaining reading.
I have nothing against them, myself - babies are just something that the human race needs, at this point, so you just learn to deal with them.
Already have a page on this thing and no one mentioned Batman: The Animated Series yet? For shame. Yeah, B:TAS was (and still is, imo) the best kids show to grace the television. Animaniacs was good, too, and Pete & Pete was the shit, back in the day. Peewee's Playhouse was pretty much children's crack, back in the 80's, for better or worse - it was awesome. Spiderman (the 90's cartoon) was also great, for what it was, and Rocko's Modern Life was incredible. Lately, Adventure Time is good, and MLP is surprisingly well done, in it's own right (not to mention it has some of the best music in children's television ever, artistically speaking... I'm not even joking). Regular show... eh, that's about as close to a kids show as Ren & Stimpy was. Not quite as graphic, but it's not really aimed at a children audience. Still pretty good, though.
Probably the same stuff that guys get off to. Porn consists of dicks and tits - (most) men focus on the tits while (most) women focus on the dicks. I don't see why people think it'd be anything special for women.
Good and evil are different for everyone in some way or another, and it's based entirely on a combination of their experience and beliefs. In my opinion? From a non-religious point of view, it is an action that pushes oneself toward perfection, or convince those around him/her to pursue the same course. When I take my religion into account, because God is perfect, this deduces to actions that make one more in tune with God. "Evil" is merely the opposite/absence of good.

Well, there ya go. Remember, this place is as much about writing music for flash artists to use for free as for casual listening. Ambient is also nice to listen to on it's own (vertical textures and soundscapes are fun to listen to from time to time). Either way, it's more than justified to be here.
I dunno - probably.
I imagine that he'd produce the most kick-ss attack ads ever, though.
Well, keep asking - if they're not responding, you can always spice it up with a decent cash offering (100-200$ would be pretty nice just for giving permission). I'm glad you'd feel guilty for taking music without permission - it means you have a conscience. :)
Oh, well then unscratch my name from the list, lol.
I don't plan on writing remixes for the competition, so I'll be alright.
Oh, no remixes or covers, lol. Nah, I didn't read the rules in detail, then.
We'll see if I can get anything in by July, then - y'all can scratch my current entry, for now.
If they revealed his/her identity then this video will be so much more awkward to watch.

At one point, some angry audiokid asked for it in his own thread - and I believe wade showed all of us how he himself voted 0 on plenty of other tracks. That whole idea would never work.
That's fine - I wasn't privy to that discussion, so I didn't know it was already decided. I vote a good healthy '0', too, from time to time, if a song is really poor, or I know for a fact that it's stolen (generally when the artist him/herself states that the music is stolen).
FL Studio has been recognized by plenty of artists to have all of the tools that you'll need to create professional music. If you're worried about what some artists have said about the program, forget about it - if that's been your bread and butter since 2007 then you shouldn't invest in a new DAW. You COULD invest in better VSTi's and plugins, though, if you're looking to make investments to improve your sound, though. Or you could invest into good monitors and/or great headphones. Another computer monitor would be an excellent investment, as it would expand your work environment considerably.
If you like FL Studio, then stick with it - there are far better places to invest one's money if you're looking to improve your music than a foreign DAW that you need to relearn in order to achieve virtually the same sound.
If you're used to FL, then get FL. You'll get about the same functionality out of any program, so just get what you're comfortable with.
Stay the hell away from that woman, as she is quite frankly a destructive person. Domestic violence should never, ever be tolerated. It's awful that you had a kid in the middle of it, as I don't think there is anything that you can do to help the child - the courts will move in her favor. At this point just hope she doesn't come after you looking for child support, as that'll pretty much financially cripple you for the rest of your life.
Find work, move forward and get involved in events that you enjoy. You will find someone else who is less destructive in time if you keep your eye out, I guarantee it.

Saw that he was kicked this morning. I didn't follow him very much since he rarely posted on TGWTG, but from the few things that I did see he was pretty good at what he did. Perhaps his heyday was years ago, but I still enjoy his FFVIII & FFX reviews quite a bit. I'm not going to explore the dregs of Twitter to see his ranting, but from the sound of it the guy is going through some hard times. I hope he works through whatever is holding him back, right now.
I've seen programs for the ipad from Propellerhead, by the way - it just seems like either the programs were an attempt to rip something that was for a desktop/laptop to the ipad, or they were less than functional, when it comes to a DAW. Using the ipad as an alternative input was an interesting idea, but hardly something that I'd invest in an ipad for.
500k in the grand scheme of things isn't really that much money. It's a lot for an individual person, and it's pretty excessive for this action, but it's only roughly 10-15 years worth of the average person's paychecks. Don't make a bigger deal out of it than you need to - if she donates some of the money to other organizations then power to her, but if she decided to keep all of it then... well, power to her, it's not that much. I'm sure she could use the money, much like anyone else.
