Like learning how to structure the face better on angle shots and side profile shots. I think heading back to Loomis and paying attention on the planes of the face wouldn't hurt (particularly the mouth and nose and cheekbone tend to be the hardest to get right). Other things that need work on is understanding hair, controlling your pencil pressure, work on hands a bit more (it's not entirely bad but I think drawing a page full of hands would definitely help a bit when drawing them with people), and understanding cloth.
Yeah indeed I've already been looking at Loomis a lot! If you're saying my face drawings look flat then I can understand that I've attempted that plane exercise a few times but not successfully I'll get back to it and try to make them look more 3D for sure.

We all know a user here that's like that. Now don't we?
Gotta agree here, a good foundation is key, because in the end without the good foundation your art will look like shit. Not to discourage practicing color but at least take some time and get the fundamentals down.
As for resources here you go.

I think NG art forum really needs a sticky with a lot of resources like this page
Really like the grasshopper
and the Dino is cool too
I like the way you color your stuff
Cool works! The only thing I can think that bothers me is everyone seems awfully stiff in their poses, but that kind of works into the way you draw it somehow. Might be worth improving though
I like it
Doodle or Die drawing with a tablet! I really need to get my own.

Well gain some experience and do it yourself.
Learn anatomy before you start fucking with it
Andrew Loomis is helpful, and Vilppu
Someone have a go at this I'm interested to see how you all will draw this

Keep in mind it's a wip
Not bad for your second try, and you're not trying to do manga
But my advice to you is, give her some what an upper lip
also when dealing with a female face less is more try to make your lines less fuzzy and more smooth make everything simple and smooth
I hope this helps
What happens when your thread gets to the end of page 3?

No he's right Andrew Loomis' stuff will help you a lot with your "no reference drawings" the poses will look better and just everything overall will improve too.

I'm working on an assessment for art class that involves designing, producing and creating a ten-print series of a linoleum print. I've been drawing up the design on GIMP and just got it to the point where I can't see anything further to do on it.
I'm happy with what I've done, but does anybody have any ideas along these lines:
- Frame/border (can't think of a simple enough design that will lend itself to the overall mood)
- Background ideas (must be minimal so as not to distract from main focus)
- Any other additions or advice.
*Any* help would be strongly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Clayton.
P.S: Image extension, size and quality was lowered for post.
The graveyard Idea would work pretty well for this, maybe you should look at some scenery from a movie or a game for ideas I was thinking this reminded me of a game called Dark Souls maybe you can google some of the scenery in that game for a little inspiration
I started this thread a month or so after I got my tablet. Trust me if you are really into drawing and junk to spend the cash it will help you immensely.
Yeah I've been thinking about it a lot actually it'll probably happen soon, any tablets you would recommend?

I included this recent pic of Dead Space that I drew, so you can get an idea of my style. I'm far from as good as many people on here, but always trying to improve :p
I actually liked the pic, It made me laugh considering how terrible the creatures actually look, all I can think is maybe improve coloring and lighting, but that comes with time, also Isaacs arm holding the gun looks a little weird and flat maybe touch that one up a bit.
Something about the feet bugs me, more detail perhaps? also her lower half of the legs don't seem long enough

Color studies
I'm quite jelly, I don't have a tablet and I can't do this kind of thing
also thats a great work of Emma Stone.
I would really suggest starting from square one, you need many many improvements on the basics.
As for the robot it seems kinda fragile, like you could knock it over easily, maybe check out some pics of robots and get a sense for drawing them.
If you know what this is then good for you getting passed the archers, man that part was a bitch.

Yeah my anatomy improved quite a bit when I actually took to studying it and practicing, still a ways to go. Just give Andrew Loomis' book figure drawing for what it's worth a look, it really helped me.
Somethings a little wonky about the neck and head but im still pleased with this one

Oh I was just wondering if the better looking ones had a reference its not weird or anything some of my faces turn out way better than others
Whatever Happened to Blackmarketkraig?
Awesome stuff... It's got character style and conveys a lot of emotion. Also looks like you play some good games too (deus ex boiii)
Anyway your shading could always improve and I think your painting is pretty decent just keep at it and you'll be there.

Weird some of your faces look really good like the Skyrim one then others not so much, do you use a reference for the ones that turn out better?
