I have a Windows OS system, its also Vista, and the rumors are false(maybe its because of SP1). It never crashes, I play games on it, it doesn't piss me off. And for those security checks, I just disable UAC, until it allows making exceptions for other programs just like the firewall.

If you don't see it on steam, check where did you place it, is it Gmod 9? If it is, then you require HL2, CSS, and HL2DM.
If you don't see it on steam, and it isn't Gmod 9 or below, no help will be given because you have a cracked copy.

I think you should blame EA for this shit, they are the ones who own Maxis and of course, they are the ones who control everything around them. Maxis might have not put up with the 3 computers shit, but since EA owns them, they have no say over anything that good old EA wants with them.

If you meant that if you get CSS and Gmod, yeah, you can do that. If you want to use HL models/shit, you need either HL2 or HLS(HLS and HL is different, one is original, one is source).

If you get the Orange Box for the PC/Steam, then it will be good because you get to use TF2/Portal/HL2 content in lets say, a CSS map.

About the computer:
I don't know much about AMD or Intel processors.
If you plan on using ASSLOADS of custom shit in Gmod, 320GB is good, some of them could be for porn.
2GB RAM is alright, but you might need 4 soon, for less lag.
XP is good, but some people are starting to like Vista more.
NVIDIA is good, but you need an 8 series card+(8000-9600) or one of those new video cards.

Overall, it might be able to run Gmod on high with good fps.

Some not really bought, but received as a gift.

Build a computer. You can build a good computer that has excellent specs, can play any game on high with good FPS, and it will cost less than the same specs on a Mac. Hell, you can just get Photoshop once you are finished building your computer.
