I tried idling for 3 nights and got all the same crap I already had. Another guy I know has been idling for weeks now and didn't get any hats at all. I think Valve is going to redo this hat system long before you can get a few hats by idling.

Maybe the server hasn't updated yet

No I just need the sourcemod for now so I can promote some admins. I do plan on adding other things like sound and video clips. It's going to be a recreation of a server that me and my friends used to always play in.

.bat files aren't all that hard. I'm no computer wizard or anything but even i can write up a few lines of commands to delete windows, or crash someones computer by opening notepad.exe a thousand times. It's even better when you do what Paradox said and have it there in front of you to just copy/paste.

The problem was that the tutorial I used was confusing, but now I got everything running.
Sourcemod is the problem right now. I installed metamod and it worked because when I typed "meta version" it said it was there. When I tried to get sourcemod in, I got an application error. I think it might be a problem with one of the last updates that screwed up sourcemod and they had to rework some things. Maybe the tutorials I used are outdated now.
Doubt I can get a lot of help here, so I'll make a post on the sourcemod forums later in the day.

What's so difficult. Just copy-paste what they've got there into and empty text file, and save as a .bat. Then run it. I think that should work... Unless there's some huge thing that I've missed, since I only just glanced at the link.

I got it to work after looking at another tutorial. Server's running and now I'm figuring out how to put sourcemod in. Got metamod all worked out and now I don't know what to do with the addons and cfg files. Tried sticking them in the metamode addons file in different ways, but every time I started the server up, I got an error

I decided to just make this server on my computer, and if it doesn't work, I could always delete it. As far as I can tell, servers don't require too much to run them.

I can't imagine how anyone can type with only a couple of fingers. Typing a 10+ page essay would take for fuckin ever.

And to those who say that your way of typing is better, take an online test and see how many WPM (words per minute) you can type. With enough practice, you can type 50-100 words a minute the right way

one more week before I head off to classes again. Really sucks because I've got a crap ton of things that I was planning on finishing during the summer, and classes are just going to throw me off completely.

Finally got invited to a clan that wants more fun in a game than serious business. Not some giant, 10000+ members in it group, but a small group of skilled people who you actually want to work with. It's like the opposite of a pro gaming team, but it could still kick your ass in ways you have never imagined before.
