I used to use a really old version of Flash, which was the Flash MX 2004.
Now I got the CS5 version, but things has changed a lot since then, and I would like to ask some help with it.
I'm trying to do a score system to my game, but the way I used to know to do it, does not work here anymore.
First of all, what can I make so that my Dynamic Text box will be the a numeric type and not a character type so I can count the values correctly?
There used to be an option for that on Flash MX at the text box options, but I can't find it at CS5 version.
Also to make the counting, I used to use the following code:
_root.Score = _root.Score+1;
But AS3 don't seem to recognize the _root anymore, if i just put Score = Score+1, it should work?
(I could not test it correctly because i could not convert my text box to numeric type)

Well,I did not want to stay with the same and old newground´s preloader,so then i decided to try doing a new one for myself.
but the problem is when i´m going to run the swf on my computer it do not load,because there is no need to do that......
but,if it don´t load,how can i know if my loading bar is looking good and etc?.....

Hey,that´s pretty good....but if you want my opinion,there is just one thing i think you could change,and the thing is the tree leaf....it´s too erect,and don´t look too realistic,because of gravity and many other reasons,but anyway,that´s just a tip,good luck ^___^

Heya!Srry about the late reply,i was having lunch....a level system huh?...well i don´t know if it can be called like that but what I did was to make something like: after killing a X number of enemys it jumps to another scene,and that is the second level...that´s the levels system you was talking about?
Hello!! I´m trying to do a shooting game and,on that i want to make a level select option, which is just selectable after beating the level before,for exemple:
There you be the the option to get in on Level 1 and Level 2,but,you the Level 2 option will just a botton to get in the level if you had beated the Level 1,other than that its just going to be a label.
So that´s what i was thinking and that was my problem,hope u guys undestood cuz i´m not really good in english and i tried to explain it in the better way i could,thanks for your attencion,and also hope you can help me!

About the Health bar,i do know how to do,that´s what i tried to do to make a game like this,i did a "health" bar for the enemy,and that´s what got problems when i tried to put more than one at the same time ~_~

Hello,i need some help about enemys on my shooting game!...
All the shooting game tutorials i found here on newgrounds just teachs how to do enemys as stick men,so they all dies with just one click (shoot),and the code to it is really simple,is just to make them as a botton and make it goes from another part or their time line,a part where it dies.....But i wanted something different,and nicer,so tried to do a real character,who could die with more than one shot,and for that i just used a _root system,so after each click on the character it will change an another movie clip frame,and passing 3 frames it changes the character frame for the one that he dies!!!! And it worked,but after this the problems started comming,because,this just work if,bouth movie clips,the enemy one and the "energy" one,stay on the Main Timeline,it means that,i can not put them in a same movie clip,because the root thing will not work,and the problem of this is that: it´s a shooting game,so it´s supposed to have sumply of enemys,but,if i put 2 of these enemys at the same time,they will have the same code,and they will root the same "energy" movie clip,so when i give three shots on one of them,bouth will die,or even worse,if i give 2 shot on one and just one on the other,they will still die!,so i don´t know what to do,because if i do a different codding for each enemy,the game filesiza will be enormous....
