I understand what you're saying, but I've taken a different approach. Take a look at the script for the prologue.

INSERT – Animation plays to depict what Narrator describes.
PRIMARY NARRATOR (V.O.)
Newgrounds is known by all throughout the land as a nation of power and great strength. Its armies are the most capable, and its leader is the most feared.
(three beats)
Though, this was not always so. There was once a time when the power of Newgrounds was of a different nature. It was a land built by the people, for the people. Reason and good-will did not bow to physical strength and violence. Its leader was revered by all, as he was both kind, and wise.
(three beats)
The land that would be known by all as the most paramount is one of humble beginnings. Newgrounds was founded by an outlandish young lad known as Tom Fulp. At first his following was minimal, yet gradually it began to grow, and after overcoming several obstacles, among those, famine and over-population, Tom expanded his realm and it began to both thrive and flourish.

Tom did not govern Newgrounds alone, those who helped in the founding of Newgrounds, were appointed by Tom positions of power, they are known as Administrators, and among them was Tom's older brother, Wade Fulp.

The Administrators, being busy with daily affairs, in turn selected valued members of the community to serve as peace keepers, they are known as Moderators.

It was at this time that an event occurred that would change Newgrounds forever. In a nearby site of ancient ruins, strange artifacts were discovered, that would later be called Icons. These Icons were found to be mystical weapons, each with their own unique abilities. They appeared to be primitive in form, but modern weapons proved to be no match for their power.

Soon other ruins were scavenged, and it was not long before every Newgroundling possessed an Icon. In all, 30 different types of Icons were discovered. The Icons were classified into levels based on power, with the most powerful being level 30. Typically, the higher the level of the Icon, the rarer it is and the more difficult it is to attain. The only instance, in which this is not true, is in the case of Level 9 Icons, they are the second most common other than Level 1 Icons.

With the help of Icons, Newgrounds was successfully defended against the attacks of rival lands, among them were the wild savages of 4chan. Thus, it was in this fashion, that the army of Newgrounds gained its notoriety.

There were also several attempts of takeovers from within, by several groups of renegades known as, "crews." Among these were

and the Kitty Krew.

All such attempts at takeovers were easily put to rest, thanks to the combined efforts of the Administrators, Moderators, and loyal citizens. Other than their devout followers these crews were despised by all, but some former crews have since been reformed, such as the Clock Crew, and to a lesser extent, the Kitty Krew.

It was this introduction of Icons that triggered a change within Newgrounds. Even though Tom himself only possessed a Level 9 Icon, he was still accepted as the leader, and respected by all. The Administrators and Moderators also possessed Icons of various levels, some quite low, but it did not diminish their authority.

However, it was among the common people in which a change took place. Strength was now coveted above all things. Those with higher level Icons were perceived to have a greater stature than those who owned lower levels.
(three beats)
Soon, another takeover was brewing, but this time it would be due mostly to the efforts of a single person. This lowly soul went by the name of, J-m-B-d, but would be known throughout the land as, simply, Bedn.
(three beats)
Bedn was at heart, a conniving thief, with a sweet-tooth, but he was once a highly respected member of the community. He even gained the trust of the Fulp brothers, but he betrayed that trust, when many Icons were reported to have been stolen and Bedn was found to be the culprit. For this crime, Bedn was banished from the land of Newgrounds.

However, unbeknownst to all, Bedn soon returned, under the alias of “Josh,” and with a Level 23 Icon in his possession. He began to secretly cause unrest within Newgrounds. It became worse when he learned of a disgruntled wielder of a Level 29 Icon, alias: Pimp. Pimp was angry that he had not been selected by Tom as a Moderator, despite being a wielder of a high level Icon. Pimp was a strong believer in the philosophy of, "survival of the fittest." The existence of Icons led many others to think this way as well, and in this way Pimp gained many silent supporters.
(three beats)
Bedn began to conspire with Pimp towards the purpose of over-throwing Tom and his administration. With the help of Bedn, Pimp was able to steal, the one and only Level 30 Icon. That same day Pimp and his followers stormed Newgrounds Tower, however, very little blood was shed, for it was discovered that, Pimp had supporters among many of the Moderators.
(three beats)
In the initial confusion, chaos erupted and Tom Fulp fled from Newgrounds, managing to escape with the help of Dobio, a Moderator loyal to Tom. However, the Administrators were not as fortunate, as they were all captured and imprisoned, including Tom’s brother.
(three beats)
Those that would still follow Tom’s lead scattered and fled as well. Approximately one-third of the Newgrounds population left its borders that day. Perhaps more would have as well, had they the means.
(three beats)
Those who remained soon found that under the reign of Pimp and his advisor, Bedn, Newgrounds was no longer what it once was. Pimp was a tyrant, who was not at all connected with his people. He craved power, forever building his army, expanding his empire and conquering new lands. With his level 30 Icon, he was indeed the mightiest of all.
(three beats)
In his arrogance he held tournaments each year, in which any team of 4 could compete, allowing for the team that emerged victorious the opportunity to test their might, against Pimp himself, and attempt to take his throne. For 5 years, Pimp has remained undefeated.
(three beats)
It has now been 6 years since Pimp's rule began, and in a neighboring land, one who was once thought to be dead, meets others in secret, to discuss dealings or a dark and devious nature.
