so does this mean my Key wont be on my drive?

also even if i got an iLok it couldn't use it in school since they don't let you install programs on the computers. i would still need the travel drive.

Because then it would detect a square object which isn't what I want.

It's just like a rectangle with large rounded corners. It wont be rotating or stretching, that's why the coordinates of the border can be figured out right in the beginning and don't need to be processed again.

i have an idea but i cant explain it. i can make you an algorithm all i need is a few parameters such as:

overall width/ height, radius of the circles that make up the corners, location of the registration point, how fast it moves. starting point (eg: top middle, right side)

i cant guarantee this but ill try. also i have a power point right now so ill have to start on it after that

AS: Circle To Shape hitTest
I don't think that's really what I need. I'm not detecting any hits. What I'm trying to do is be able to have an object go around the perimeter of the oval. I thought I would use an array to hold the border coordinates and use the values to position the MC I want to travel around it.

At 1/16/07 11:45 PM, FlaccidLad wrote: if its close to a circle you might as well justtry to make it a circle. circles to wonders in colision
Gah yeah, a circle would be much easier, even though I'm not detecting collisions, but it really needs to be an oval.

can i see it or at least a similar oval? will this oval be rotating or stretching? and if its not for collision why to you need the bounds

the flash 9 download is just a modified flash 8. so its hard for there to be bugs since they were worked out with flash 8.

Seems like you skipeed 2 and 3 completely.

1. your a dick, and he was trying to help. and its not completely irrelevant.

There is a tut in AS: Main by Glaiel_Gamer in the advanced section that does what you want it to do, can't be botheed to link it though. It is a very nice tutorial though, you must know some trig though.

2. that doesnt even help, all you did was say theres a tutorial. seriously get the fuck out of this forum.

back to helping the guy

basically each wheel is a point, and both points hitTest with the ground and fall and move independently of each other. then you use simple inverse kinematics(the tut isnt simple but your using the basics of it) to keep the points a fixed distance from each other. the angle the car rotates is the angle from one point to the other.

you should also learn alot of collision methods like
