Well there are 3.5 billion lazy people on earth. They should just work harder. Problem solved.

Those lazy African babies dying with malnutrition, they should just up their work ethic! Slackers

Response to: 1% and poverty Posted January 30th, 2014 in Politics

I think people forget that we've had wealth inequality for millenia; even the ancient Romans used to have obscenely wealthy patricians who were astronomically richer than their plebeian neighbours (somebody's been listing to the History of Rome podcast). So I think it's probably natural to have a large difference in capital in any capitalist economy.

However I'd like to think that there's some middle ground between total socalism where everyone gets the same, and the situation we have now where 85 of the richest people on Earth own more than the combined bottom 3.5 billion people.

I still find it mind boggling that cannabis is in the same category as cocaine and heroin in the US, over here it's only a class B.

Hopefully if the states decides to roll out a universal decriminalisation of cannabis that will give the momentum needed for the rest of the developed countries will follow suit. If we're going to live in a society where things like alcohol and tobacco are legal restricted products I can't think of a reason why cannabis shouldn't be the same.

I truly believe that in my lifetime it will be legalised over here in the UK, the argument and public support is so overwhelming and all that's needed is a government brave enough to listen to the experts and reverse the scaremongering, reactionary and misinformed legislation of the infamous 'war on drugs' 60s era.

need some video editing (paid) Posted January 22nd, 2014 in Collaboration

I'm the process of putting together a quick 1 minute showreel -

Basically I need someone to take the 13 or so files I have and chop them into a single 1 minute video, you'll have to work with Flash .swfs and 1 Toonboom file, they will be of varying frame rates and sizes.

I appreciate this will take up some of your time so I am willing to pay, albeit a small amount, to compensate you for your time.

Anyone who's interested just hit me up with a PM :)

Whereas the Republicans have always championed the will of the poor and unprivileged..

Obama-care was pretty much always going to raise the fees of certain care packages for some, but overall it was a step in the right direction and a healthcare reform like this was well over-due.

Personally I can give Wacom a recommendation, I've used different Wacoms of various sizes and the feedback and usablity is great. You can get some of the smaller models quite cheaply, and they are just as good to use at the larger ones.

As people have already said, you have a nice appealing drawing style so you obviously have some artistic talent, it would be nice to see that combined with some more technically complex animation. If you're new to animation then this is an excellent resource to learn techniques.

Half the kids don't even say the pledge. It's available for those who want to but it's not like you get in trouble if you don't.
You (I don't mean specifically you, but anyone who said "well it's voluntary" or something along those lines) can defend the pledge all you want. But don't you think the fact that it is a regular fixture in your life, even if you don't say it yourself, makes that type of nationalism very acceptable in society? It's an "atmosphere" of nationalism that we don't see in any European country I know of. It's also quite different from the "non-issue" of the state churches in Sweden and Denmark somebody mentioned earlier, as the fact that these state churches exist truly has no impact on people's everyday lives. Which is quite different from something that takes place on every school day. Whether you participate or not, subconsciously you're receiving a message that this is "normal".

I'm making a criminal over-exaggeration here, but it's in the same vien as the 2 minutes hate in 1984, there's a line in the book where it says 'The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was not that one was obliged to act a part, but, on the contrary, that it was impossible to avoid joining in.'
