Sadly not that I know of it'd be easier just to ask someone to make that simple tune for you then to try and find a program that would do it for you.

It's weird, newground keeps saying it's 8:17 but the song is clearly around 9 minutes long and it's bothering me. Should I try and re-upload the audio or should I just leave it as it is. Mainly because well it still plays the whole song. So It kind of confuses me on why it says it's 8:17.

If anyone knows why that'd be great put my mind at rest.

Here's a question I'm curious on. Out of all the artists on the Audio Portal. Which one of you do live recordings either by themselves or mixing them with synths that you made.

Personally I sometimes do it rather it be with a Piano, or guitar. Everything else I use the Keyboard with EWQL for. What about you all?

Topic: Question about Arranging music...

Posted: 04/20/08 01:19 PM

Forum: Audio

Well besides originals I've done a few arrangements and I've been having conflicting moments with myself now. I'll use four audio tracks as examples.

The first, is the normal arranging when you basically just keep the entire melody in and just kind of change the feel of the song or use different instruments when making it. These two tracks

Fairuzons - Legend of Zelda Windwaker - Grandmother and Fairuzons - FF8 Premonition

Or is it much better to make your own composition mixing it with the original version of the song to add a feel of nostalgia and originality in it. Like these two
Fairuzons - Kefka's Revenge and Ultimecia's Revenge

I'm just curious which is the right or the more preferred way to arrange music. Also what ways do you if you do arrange music. Personally I prefer original composing but I don't mind arranging songs sometimes but I want to do it in a way that not only is a way I like but a way the listeners would like more. Any advice would be great.

Rhapsody / Rhapsody on Fire (Ugh the name changing due to copyright)

They have a narrator in their songs and they do epic metal. You know they're gonna tell a story. Should warn you though their songs are..lengthy.

Get drunk, seriously. You have no idea what freaking awesome BS you can come up with when you're out of it. And by come up I mean get the melody. Compose it after you're sober . I'm sure Alex Seropia got really drunk before he made Halo. Nomura said so himself he was drunk when making Kingdom Hearts: Coded. So yeah get drunk and do something to benefit the world while you kill yourself slowly but awesomely.

Submitted this yesterday. Unlike most of my tracks which were all past work this is the very first recent one I've submitted to newgrounds Audio Portal. Hopefully I did a good job.

Topic: Need help with melody

Posted: 04/19/08 01:23 AM

Forum: Audio

Well, when composing the Melody is can most of the time be affected by the background music. So you could change that around. The other choices include adding another Melody after that Melody like an intermission. You can do different variations of that Melody to keep it fresh but memorable. Final option is to make a counter melody with that melody at a point. Just add small spices to the Melody when it plays again and it can add a different feel.

An example I can give you is this song I did which uses the same melody throughout the entire piece with an intermission however the small changes in the melody stop it from being dull. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/1 32915

Use Audacity or even SUPER converter. But mostly Audacity is recommended for the conversion.

I guess 'cause you don't realize your ripping off something or maybe just because its less limiting?

It might be just you, but trying to do something outside my main Genre is nearly impossible for me. If I ever tried something that had rock or metal in it I would fail horribly. Everything else I'm fine with.

I you are good and you have a good number of tracks, i wonder why i never checked you out before..

are you addicted to strings or something? lol..you just can't resist to put a violin don't you?

whatever nice tracks, but you use too much midi importation, make your own compositions.

it's 1 am and im listening to this guy...yeap..that's me..im not drunk.¬¬

I do make my own compositions. Anything you see that doesn't have the title of a game next to it. Besides the U.N one which was an arrangement I did of the main theme. Is something I composed myself. There are actually only one or two tracks on there I used as Midi importation.

As for the Violin comment well. I've been playing the Violin for 12 years straight. Even though I don't have the proper recording equipment to record my own violin playing at high quality so I use a synth. Anyways what I'm saying is that the violin is the only instrument I'm familiar enough with to know how to use it's role perfectly. That's why in some of my original songs some of the instruments aren't use 100% correctly haha. That and I use the program Reaper which I don't think grants as much freedom as I'd like it to.

I use a mixture of both. I play the Violin and Guitar so sometimes I record via that way and mix it with synth instruments. However most of the time I just open up the VST and connect my laptop to my Keyboard and play from there.

Fairuzons - Start of a Story

This is one I did that you might think of using. However it's a bit too calm I guess for the description you're thinking of. I have another song I was going to use for a friend's RPG that had to do with a Kingdom however he dropped the RPG project. So I'll upload that one for you. Though one that's a bit more fast pace that I don't know if you would want it to use it for anything else but here.

Posted: 04/02/08 09:00 PM

Basically a subject for those that created a peace off of an inspiration of something, rather it be for an event in real life or maybe a track you heard in a video game. I'm curious as to how people create compositions when inspired or motivated by something.

For me, I've mostly been inspired by video game music however my most recent track is a tribute to my grandmother. So it took a bit on a turn for me on making music.

Hope to read what your motivations are.

Posted: 04/02/08 07:00 PM

Forum: Audio

Yeah, personally I'm couldn't really care if I go under the rader. But if people like my songs that makes me happy enough but I will say this.

I've seen plenty of artists who's music I've heard sounds really good. (Rather they're better then mine or not is not part of it since they have a complete different style from mine so I'm not trying to compare it to that.) Either way, those artists that are really good who's music I listened to just aren't recognized as well as they should be. I think they should be well recognized for their talent just like everyone else. I'd love to see them be encouraged to right more music. So I do hope this interview saves some of the users from feeling discouraged because their songs aren't as popular as others so it makes them think it's not good enough.

I just create music for the sake of it being something I love to do, and I'm sure there are others that do it as well but there are always those that are just...I don't know the word for it but they compose for a passion but they don't think they're good enough.

Eastwest as far as I know is the most powerful one out there, any of their products are worth a good ear especially ones like Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic Choir, Vapor PSP, Colossus and Ministry of Rock those are their top ones. They are unbelievably expensive and their size makes it worst. Colossus let alone it's price tag takes 8 yes EIGHT CD's to install onto your computer that's how big these things are. So I won't advice getting them unless you're planning on going somewhere musically with your life.

I'm interested in it, it sounds like a really good idea. I noticed as well the Audio Portal isn't really well known. It's a great community, one of the best I've seen so far that's meant for submitting fan-made remixes and original content at the same time.

So no it hasn't been done before and I would love to be interviewed or at least help out with something.

I was wondering if anyone would recommend this. I was thinking of buying it but it costs over $400. Of course some people would say "Why not download it illegally" or whatever, well I don't do it with programs like these mainly cause the company worked amazingly hard on these.

Anyways I was wondering if anyone has tried it or anything. I want to get it but the 32GB free space it needs and the price are the only thing giving me a mix of wanting to get it or not. My computer can handle the install and have around 20 gigs left afterwards but I just don't want to risk it if it isn't as good as it sounds or looks.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=aI5Gg2-mhmU That's a sample of how it works.

Posted: 03/28/08 04:30 PM

I mostly do orchestration music, however this is mostly thanks to the lack of a good Guitar Program. I use Slayer2 but that's mostly used for distortion guitars and doesn't use the Lead Guitars that well. I really want to try and mix guitars in with some of my orchestration pieces. So if anyone knows a good program that can help me with that problem that would be great!
