I'm not quite sure as with SoundChris, if you're using a live piano, maybe check out Audacity to record and manipulate your recordings?
If you have a [MIDI] keyboard, there are some music programs that can be recommended, depending on your computer's operating system.
Basically, it's not that GarageBand has a bad rep, it's that it is a Digital Audio Workstation that's just been misunderstood by non-users.

Catching Fire
What a film. I hadn't read the book, but it was interesting enough to make me want to see how everything plays out in the sequel...right away!
I'd see the rest of the first Hunger Games film, but I'd probably end up with some strange mixed messages.
No matter what software I seem to use, what genre I produce for, or how I experiment in the mix-master process, I never seem to be able to get the sort of loudness I've heard from my contemporaries here and there ( I blame it on my sound driver, though I'm sure that's not really the truth).
I guess having to crank your volume to 11 to hear my audio will be one way I'll [unfortunately] stand out.

haha, ya'll used to be "silly" like us until '82. So the imperial system's not perfect, yes, but it is a shame it was forced upon yourselves.
Until I read your post, I hadn't a clue that odometers elsewhere used KM, especially next door.

So, I've been needing a new car for years, cause my current vehicle is quite a junker, brakes don't work half the time, front axle is cracked, heater/AC doesn't work, brake lights get stuck on, wobbles like a mofo... but yeah...
Purgy's getting a new car, woooo! I've never bought a car before, the whole process at the dealership was so fucking stressful, so much paper work, and so many things to worry/think about. But will totally be worth it. Going in on Sunday to put down the rest of my down payment, then will have the car delivered a day or two later after it gets a full service and detail... Really looking forward to it.
2010 Toyota Camry, Black, Aftermarket rims/wheels, only 1 previous owner. Will have a picture after I get my hands on it.
Excited excited...
As an owner of a 96 Collector's Edition, I say you won't be disappointed with getting a Camry. In nearly two decades it has *never* broken down. It hasn't been until more recent years that it needed some coming-of-age maintenance. I dream of going all-electric in the future, but that's going to be a long wait from now...
Toyota's been a testament to longevity in Japanese vehicles (sticky pedals aside).
Good luck with your purchase, I'm sure it will be worth your while.
Hey, I was just finding out from my subscription to GarageBandandBeyond that GarageBand X (yes it seems this version jump from version 6.x mimics that of Apple's QuickTime player), is now out!
I don't have the upgrade yet, though the new interface and features I saw so far have answered and raised some questions to my mind.
GB10 looks like a clone of Logic Pro X, moreso than previous versions of either DAWs. Dunno why Apple's done this, though it seems to suggest a stronger and easier transition from GB to Logic, and back again!
If anyone has this now, I'd LOVE to hear reviews of this new standalone (you heard right, GBX is essentially it's own separate DAW, having little to no relation to previous versions) DAW.

hmmm, not quite; that feature just pushes forward a few measures automatically. Here's a visual example of what I'm looking for.
(see what happens at about 3:07)

I guess that essentially takes the pee out of it, yes?
I mean I know this is wishful thinking, but it'd really make my day if the new[er] versions of iLife featured a fully loaded version of Garageband (that is, all Jam Packs built-in and ready to go); I believe it would sweeten the deal for those that know this type of software is now nowhere purchasable outside of stores like Amazon.

Ok, try this: http://www.fastcompany.com/3020524/all-of-the-ways-apples-new-free-mac-os-hurts-microsoft-windows
No piracy or joking around, just finished reading this article on Apple's recent move towards free software, and am just as shocked more or less as Microsoft may be after finding out.
What's your reaction? Is this good, or is it bad? Is it significant?

A whole screen's worth.

One scrolling trick is to push in your mouse wheel and drag, that gives you both X & Y axis scrolling simultaneously(both playlist & piano roll). Another is if youre on your playlist you can hold shift and hit the down arrow key to automatically scroll down to the lowest placed track. Also, on the Sequencer PageUp & PageDown allows you to switch which channel group youre looking at.
Any of those what youre talking about?
More specifically: when playing back music that's got a significant amount of measures in length (left to right), FL Studio will automatically push forward a few measures as the playhead gets closer to the end of view.
Other DAWs such as Logic or Live have a "page" scrolling mode where when the playhead gets to a certain point near the end of the view, it automatically flashes forward to the next set of measures in the song (like turning a page really fast).
^this is what I was wondering--does FL Studio have a feature like this?
Does FL Studio got a page scroll mode?

Sure there is, the same way me and others get composer's/producer's block.
Norms & Society
There is no "normal". All of us have been brought up in our own culture/system that defines our "norms". Our functions in everyday life may be frowned upon or seen as appalling by others, but that's "culture shock" for ya.
On the account of society, either you have a choice to change, or you don't. Class honestly shouldn't [fully] define an individual. Generally we have the impoverished, the poor, the middle, the [somewhat] wealthy, and the elite. It's most apparent in economic systems like capitalism, and its totally up to the individual whether or not he/she wants to stay where they are throughout their life or shift to another rank (up or down).

Doesn't make a difference to me, and it shouldn't to you either.
Right you are, Purgy. In this day and age, it'd be practically ignorant to not understand that there are just more than just males and females in the world. There's arguably 3-4 (or more) [possible] other sexes out there that make the point that it doesn't matter who you are....just what you do.
I mean no offense in my earlier comments, but I have taken exception of your "make things interesting" position. Sex/gender is just one more way to divide the planet, than unite it. What really matters outside of every feature of us, is that we're HUMAN.

Just note that when you want to share your stuff on this forum, that we got designated spots such as this threadthis thread to post it.
2013: The year "Forgey Wars: Return of the Chroni" came out!
of the closet
Me and myself from the 2nd universe wish you all the best on this day.
I just found out minutes ago! I couldn't believe it. I was just minding my business going to Wikipedia just to see if a new picture of him was posted recently, only to be met with a date of death in the entry. Still shocked.
Farewell, Yamauchi-san, you will be missed.
Technically it's not a real "World War", from a true U.S. perspective, unless the target country has actually attacked a significant amount of Americans, be they civilian or military, which would then be a reason for us to go to war.
false flags or knowingly putting our people in danger, need not be discussed in truth-seeking circles, as it's almost always the reason.
United Kingdom already said no, and it's up to Congress, not the President, as to all means of a war-related attack on another country. On the account of Syria's so-called "chemical weapons" allegations, do your own research to determine if that claim holds any water...
Now then, whose got Logic X?
Which one would you consider the better mixerer/masterer?
It would be most helpful if someone has used both tools.
Garagebandandbeyond recommended T-Racks, and those whom I chatted with on NGAP Skype chat use Ozone for the most part. I've no experience with either, I work with the DAWs' built-in tools.
Lemme hear your experience, and what you like and/or dislike about Ozone/T-Racks. If you believe there's a better mixmaster tool out there than these two, I'm all ears!
It's all a matter of opinion; shake the dirt off and keep climbing. Every bit of dirt is a step to improvement and success. I found this to be an interesting video that seems to reflect much of what everyone's talked about here. Naysayers of the "mainstream and/or newgrounds sound" should take note of that vid.
sure electronic music's the target of the vid, but surely it could translate to other modern genres.
Hey fellow Mac musicians, surely this has been something we've waited ages for. Was it worth the wait? I came across a video about what was allegedly Logic Pro X's drummer tool. I initially thought it was another hoax, but it showed signs of being legit, as I watched it more and more. The like bar was pure green, so it had to be official!
Of all the things I anticipated, interface-wise, it did become darker. The capabilities look great, especially the new drummer tool.
And for only about $200, it seems obscene that Apple's giving so much power to its end-users.
It's in the Mac App Store now. Will you be getting it? Do you have it already? If you already got it, what do you think of it?
Just watched this comparison between the standard and high definition versions of FFX.
Around the time I played this (mid-2000s), I really didn't think much about the graphics, but it was fun playing.
Seeing this demo however garnered some mixed thoughts in me. While there is some new detail in the HD version, it's not quite the "blown away" direction I anticipated. I figured that by now the in-game graphics could easily measure up with those in the full-motion video cutscenes, but it seems we're still not at that point....yet.
Aside from some redone textures and lower jaggie counts, I'm not really keen on the HD version's "colder" hue/coloring scheme. Characters like Tidus and Yuna appear more paler all around, and that just feels weird to me.
I understand this isn't the finished product, but from what I've seen so far, it's not something I'd buy anytime soon, even if I had a PS3.
I like the combination of detail and brevity in this video.
You showed how you layer your synths and in a short amount of time, right to the points.
For now, I need to learn how to do that with my current DAWs of GarageBand and Live, at least with your technique(s).

You mean that Image-Line hasn't released a 64-bit friendly version of their software yet? GB and Live are a rollin' with laughter right now, if that's true.
