An excerpt from Wiki, on the name:
"Hearing of American novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife Zelda, Miyamoto thought the name sounded "pleasant and significant".[22] Paying tribute, he chose to name the princess after her, and titled his creation The Legend of Zelda."
I can't resist sharing this latest add to Busted Tees line! The thing I find ironic is that there are people (myself included) that never really understood the reason why Zelda's name is in the title of the series if Link (the boy) is the star of the game.
Shigeru Miyamoto has explained in the past why Zelda's name is used for the series (similar to why the Mario brothers have the "name Mario"!), so it makes more sense that Link or whoever the heck you're controlling isn't having some sort of identity crisis!
All-in-all, I laughed out loud at this. It brings the point home so well! Though, it'd probably help to be up close enough to read the shirt in its entirety, XD XD.

Gr8 list! Now would you mind bouncing us a track that demo's YOUR voice? It may be in your library, but ti's not sticking out as a voice track. Even a PM would do nice, if you don't want to advert one around here.
At 12/3/11 07:14 PM, Chronamut wrote: actually it's just a contest criteria - all contests have criteria - this is simply that one. And it doesn't matter if you can't sing - Khuskan can't sing but that hasn't stopped him from recording stuff with vocals and outputting it.
The problem with not having it as a criteria is if that's the case then nobody will output a vocals song. Look at the celtic song - we had a few vocalists in that.. they may not have been the best but they still tried their darndest.
And like I said - the NACs are also about collaboration - working with other users who CAN sing - everyone here so far has said "oh well "I" can't sing, so I'm out of this" - what ever happened to working with others? I know hania can sing for one, as can others. Do some networking!
The whole point of the NACS was to bring community members together - but more and more I see people staying in their own little bubbles.
Chronamut, this criteria might as well be Crateria, as the problem with this, like it was in the A Capella NAC, is the fact that a lot of us who are "vocally-challenged", may not even know any people with a vocal background! Literally, it can put a lot of holes in our work.
A lot of people here are still "wet behind the ears" in terms of Audio Portal experience, and only know their music program as their closest ally. With this criteria, expect the most logical thing to occur is we voiceless ppl start "looking for singer for song" threads.
If there's a vocal recruitment thread, I don't know about it.
Call me a whiny rockbell all you want, but those are the hardest facts I got.
Newgrounds Holiday Theme?!
blows my thread away.
Totally.

So I am making this thread as a vote tabulator. Those that feel that I should keep doing it say so - those that feel someone else should - please label who.
At the end of the month I shall tabulate up the votes. If they're still in favour of me I shall continue - if they support someone else I will ask that person if they feel willing.. otherwise we will find someone else.
I've taken a lot of heat for these contests - and contrary to popular belief this isn't some ego trip I am doing - tbh I just wanted to bring the community together - and aside from all the prima donna whining - I do believe we did just that.
There. I've said my piece - let your words either support me or deny me.
*fixed*
Just look at my aura. It's going to stay that way. There are some nice things about the NACs I'd love to talk about as well as not-so-good.
First let's look at the not-so-good stuff:
Aside from the occasional text errors, it'd be nice to be notified when a winner's song is being featured. Sure it feels good to know that it's going to be featured after winning, but it'd help to be informed where and when. I say this from personal experience, of course.
Segregation of the NAC monthly threads to me, feels a bit un-needed. I looked at what Tom did with his own October audio contest, and it didn't seem to be an issue for the contestants. I think you'll end up having heart issues if you divide the NACs into three threads all the time. With one thread, there's only one that needs to be kept track of.
Flak me as hard as you want for this next one, but I think the heat should be cranked up on how business is handled, with respect to the rules that each NAC has enforced. No "it's going to be late" PMs (sry, uint), or anything that will make you seem like a push-over (I'm typically late, I can't lie about that; don't go easy on me). Be direct on things like submitting in the month, and on the thread before the deadline.
Now the good stuff:
The NACs are a great idea, when it comes to having people push themselves. If there's one thing that should ever come out of a competition, it should be that the competitors are getting stronger. Every month felt like a grand opportunity to tweak, and tweak and tweak, until all of a sudden, "I made it into the top 8?".
The submissions themselves are a great opportunity, for people to listen to other artist's tracks, which in turn may potentially turn the producer of the music a favorite, and maybe even the song itself! The NAC is one of few places on the website where submissions can get high visibility. A contestant might not win or place, but they'll get recognition!
Another great opportunity surrounding NACs like the rhythm one of September IIRC, is the possibility of your work being used in a flash animation or game. All of the steps taken, including ??? can lead to profit. When earning spoils such as monetary prizes or sigs doesn't cut it, having your music heard in an NG creation(s), surely may; it'll always be there.
-------------
As you can see, Chronamut, I'm a plus and minus here as promised. The idea's not perfect, but it certainly seems to blow the fur off of my idea /sadface.
If the NACs stay, it'll always be a joy to join in on the fun, meet new people, have some laughs.
If the NACs leave, it will always be a great memory to me. Not even that I won one, but that me, like pretty much everyone else here, has become a better person. Sure not everyone can be pleased (there's almost always going to be someone that's surprised they weren't placed, and there'll be people that wil be surprised that someone else didn't place as well!), but by golly the experience of giving it our all should always be self-rewarding.

If ya wanted that, just stick with DailyMotion.
Some People may still not have this. If your browser isn't displaying like this and you want it to, check out the YouTube experiments link at the bottom of the website, and check out Space Panda or w/e it's called.
Reminds me of the old StupidVideos days...
I had an idea very close to this, but it was based on bloopers.
An MMORTS vs an MMOFPS
Yes, you may reflect upon any CoD game.

Which do you prefer to play the most?
What would make the game more awesome?
Why do you like that one game better?

I could have chosen a song like this, but I felt that if Chronamut wanted Dec.'s NAC to use holiday music, or be based around an actual holiday tune, I didn't want this challenge to conflict with that.
Thanks for the input, tho.
It's one of my most favorite, if not my only most favorite game; critics often attack the game for its lack of time spent on tings like character design and voice acting, but aside from stuff like that, I thought it had some of the best music ever heard in a video game: Blue Stinger (epic props for arguably having the longest intro song ever).
The game was heavily promoted as a launch title for the Dreamcast, perhaps standing out as a worthy rival to Resident Evil, and even having it's own "image song" soundtrack done by Japanese music group (in Englishand Japanese).
I loved the game, and never really paid any attention to the flaws, until I read reviews (cursed "Tree of Knowledge" syndrome!).
Also with the holiday season on its way, this may be something you'd like to add to your xmas playlist. (you may hear a slight homage to this tune if you watched "Rizelmine")
Toshihiko Sahashi, like Kohei Tanaka (of Alundra fame), seem to be a testament to the fact that anime composers can create the finest video game soundtracks as well.
For great justice, this is the first and last bump I'll ever take off.

It doesn't even matter.
My apologies for misinterpreting your words. Note also this is not wholly your fault Thief, Chrone's consistency has show instability when writing those multi-thousand character posts for the NAC threads every once in a while; this time just forgot to mention the rules of submission.
I should go now. I think I've overstayed my welcome, from a number of ppl's perspectives here...

Dan Adams' song was kickass. I wish it was qualified !
Well, that wish would've most likely been granted were it not for Chronamut appearing to have thrown the whole "submission must be uploaded to the Audio Portal in the month of the competition" rule out the window (checked this month's rules over and over). If it was, chances are, both you and HungarianSupermarket would not be in the Top 8 now, as your submissions were both uploaded before this month of *this* year.
So, this form of generosity, accidental or no, can have its ups and downs. What's been done has been done, and I send my cheers to all those who participated in this month's NAC. Kthxbai...

World War III is already happening (though we don't either think about it or notice it) sanctions, cybehacks, Warner Music Group, and Occupy Earth put together are this one major war, aside from the daily bloodshed we hear about in the news between countries like the U.S. and Iraq. Forget nukes, it's conflicts like these that are affecting millions of people on a daily basis, save the occasional tsunami/hurricane juggernaut.
Off-topic: you fools! Do you even know this guy all that well? I've heard of trolling and whatnot, but this has become something more than that now: cyber-bullying. Unless you know this person intimately, I suggest you quit while you're still ahead, 'cause he might be the type that sees this as an escape if crud like this carries on.
I wouldn't want to be held responsible for any consequences that come out of something like that anymore (if it DID happen) than the next NG'er here, kay? So, like go watch TV or eat Vienna sausage or something.
On-topic: Wow, I thought my family was Apple'd out! I'm typing this on an old MacBook as we speak, and if I had even ONE of those in the pic (with Logic Express bundled on it) I'd be set for life (no joke)!
If I calculated all right, assuming the size (adjusting the worth of the PowerBooks to the worth of today's 13-in MBPs) and that nothing was "maxed out" and there was no [education] discount, I'd say there's at LEAST $9693 (It's OVER 9000!) worth of hardware in that first pic.
If those phones are under contract, I'd estimate about $600+/- in the other pic. Combined, that'd get me two certificates in music and game audio at Berklee Online, and a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM, an Apple Remote, (when it's available again for purchase @ $199) a copy of Logic Express, my own personal iPhone 4S (no contract), and an AppleCare protection plan for my new MBP, all before tax.
In other words:
Dang dawg, that's off the chain! Just saying, it's sad when our wants/needs don't equal what we have on hand, and how many hours of average hourly wages to earn all that on my own.
I'm as jelly as I am disgusted right now. Seriously why do you have that much fruit in the house?! I pray to God that's one for every person in the family.
Also, on a side-note: am I the only here that thought that his family literally picked apples as subservient slaves, from title alone? I mean, hello, wrong era! I guess like they say in Soviet Russia...

I dunno, probably "/b/", but here's a [NSFW] remedy to counter it...
been waiting for the moment to say this
There are two types of people on Newgrounds: those who troll, those who aren't "in the mood", and those who aren't Newgrounds members.
Here's a pic to better set the mood.
Hey NewGrounders, I had a number of things I was planning to do today, considering that today is my 1st year anniversary as a NewGrounds member, but one of which won't make the cut today.
To compensate for time (hope I'm using this phrase right, lol) I had a proposition to create a challenge for those interested.
The challenge is this: make a cover or remix of Yetit Petit from Ragnarok Online (video with the closet quality to the original; impressive quality at 360p, don't really hear the need to go to 480p). I did a cover of it, but since I didn't know much about mixing or mastering back then, it's not as "in-your-face" as it could've been.
The instructions/rules to the challenge are within the cover's author's comments. So just read that. Covers and/or remixes are allowed. I'm really looking for something that says "hey, I might get hired by SoundTeMP" or "SoundTeMP would love the impression I made on this!"
The winner that sounds closest to the original sound (bonus points for not ripping it to your project!), will receive tim-tams from me (ohai, communitychannel), or something like that.
This thread is both reserved for comments/questions and submissions! The contest starts today, and ends at midnight of the December 21st (12:00 AM, Eastern Time, USA; that's about 30 days, amigo!).
I'll be sure to announce the winner(s) as soon as I can, and if I don't, consider all of you winners in your own way (as you very well should anyway!).
I chose Yetit Petit, because it's played in a cold snowy place in Ragnarok Online, to better complement this season!
-FTA
Have fun, and happy holidays to all!
Disclaimer: if this contest conflicts with NewGrounds forum policies, the audio golden children have my blessing to freeze this thread, or they can suggest means that would better adhere to the policies.

Using an adblock app may be fine for others, but not me...yet! I'm merely just pointing out the mere irony of the situation.
You can't skip 15 secs of a boring ad, but you can skip that 30 sec or longer ad that really looks like it'd be interesting for you to actually want to watch it.
