you obviously haven't read my first post very well. most of the subjects are important to know, i don't deny that, but they parts of them they teach and the way they teach them is what's useless. also, what's with the required Pledge of Allegiance? how does that help?

yes, but why do we need to study it over and over after its already welded into our brains?

You'll know how stuff works and how to use different stuff to make something different

like i said, science is useful. but in school they just teach us about the most bland and useless parts of science.

English
So u dont tipe lick dis

i learned to type from my mom when i was a little kid actually. the English classes at school are mostly about asking your opinion and a piece of literature then saying it's wrong.

History
Useless.

yep, sure is. would at least be interesting if the mentioned something aside from war tho.

PE
You stay fit so you don't turn out to be a fatass and risk heart deseace or whatever

right, but what do we actually learn? and it really isnt much physical activity.

Electives
Optional. Don't take it

but they are some of the few interesting classes. just a rip-off tho

art
Optional

woodshop
Optional

cooking
Also optional

now that covers all of the classes, but wait, there's more horrible uselessness! possibly the biggest one of all, the Pledge of Allegiance. they force everyone to say it. there are so many problems with this. first of all, it's some weird sort of formality i don't really understand. it pledges allegiance to the united states, and in that, the president. so basically its a "i support bush" speech. and in it, it mentions god. yep, religious intolerance there. god usually means the Christin god, other religions usually have a different name for their god. some people believe in many gods, some don't believe there is one at all, and then there are some that simply choose to stay away from religion all together (me). i always refused to say the it, and i usually got lunch detention for it. but since i started high school, i got suspended for refusing to say it. major brainwashing going on there.

and in the end, i still don't understand it. why must i give them my life, why do i have to go there and allow them to make me be who they want me to be? why do i have to go to a place where thoughts are what they say they should be? and why do they constantly tell me "do as you are told"? that's the most insulting phrase i have ever heard, its almost as if they had said "you have no free will, you will obey your owners."

school is pretty much useless. honestly, i don't see any point in it. it's just a waste of time. and a whole lot of time too, about 1/4 of the average person's life, even more for those who go to collage. and the subjects they teach are useless.

Math - on it's own, not that useless. most of it is good to know, but after i learned it once, is there really a reason to keep doing it over and over all year after everyone already knows it?

Science - most science is pretty interesting. i like studying science, at least the interesting stuff about how things work and quantum physics. but school science is useless. why must i remember scientist's pet names for things such as streaks of rust in rocks? for the record, they are called "red beds"

English - ya know, all the other classes are in English too, so why is this one named after the language it's taught in? ive had English classes every year, and not once was it actually about directly studying the language. it's about studying literature. but it just isn't fair how we study it. once i was asked to figure out what a writer meant his story to mean to the reader. i wrote that it's meant to mean whatever the reader thinks it does, its meant to vary depending on the reader's view of life. it was marked as wrong. but ask just about any writer, you will see that im right. just a class to teach you that your opinion is wrong.

History - now this is possibly the biggest one, because its never about history, just about a certain part of history. wars. ive had history every year i can remember, and not once did we study something that wasn't a war. its all about remembering general's names and certain dates. really boring, not one bit useful. they tell us to be proud of the soldiers who die in wars, but i view the entire concept of war as stupid. its just a mugging on an international scale, and a spectator sport for politics.

PE - both boring and useless. ive never learned anything there, because they don't teach anything. just a time filler a guess. for over a month in a row it was just line up and make the basketball go in the hoop and wait in line to do it again. in general there's only one sport i like, dirtbiking. not that they care what i like.

Electives (art, woodshop, music, cooking etc.) - finally, something useful. but wait, there's a fee? well, that's to be expected i guess, but with all that tax money, im sure that they would have no problem affording it. so i added it up since ive had most of those classes with a fee of $100 each ($130 for woodshop).
art - it was a 2d art class, used white construction paper and colored pencils mostly, total supplies cost, about $10.
woodshop - got my money's worth, found a piece of zebra wood :D. everyone else used pine.
music - there is no supplies cost for them, students are required to have their own instrument. didn't pay, wouldn't let me in.
cooking - you would think they need it here, but stores donate the food to them, and classes are planned around what the stores donated.

now that covers all of the classes, but wait, there's more horrible uselessness! possibly the biggest one of all, the Pledge of Allegiance. they force everyone to say it. there are so many problems with this. first of all, it's some weird sort of formality i don't really understand. it pledges allegiance to the united states, and in that, the president. so basically its a "i support bush" speech. and in it, it mentions god. yep, religious intolerance there. god usually means the Christin god, other religions usually have a different name for their god. some people believe in many gods, some don't believe there is one at all, and then there are some that simply choose to stay away from religion all together (me). i always refused to say the it, and i usually got lunch detention for it. but since i started high school, i got suspended for refusing to say it. major brainwashing going on there.

$5 a month = about 16.6 cents a day (on 30 day months)
minimum wage = $7/hour approx
1 day of membership costs a little over 2% of 1 hour of minimum wage. wow, expensive.

i can honestly say, i can find more than that on the ground each day if i look for change.

Runescape. a game that many consider to be lame, noobish, and just plain crappy. but as many people hate it, there are plenty that like it. i believe it's been given a bad name by those who like it a little too much and spend weeks on end on it and obsess about it and those who havnt played since the original Runescape (which was total crap) and havnt even been on the site since (it was completely remade for those of you who dont know). most of those people who are against it play other MMORPGs just as much as the obsessed people that waste weeks on end on runescape. and its in human nature to think as others do, so opinions spread, and a good thing got a bad name.

Now at this point im sure you have figured out that i like Runescape. but don't judge me. not yet. ive played it for years. no, not literally years without breaks, i did have to take a few hours off to sleep every few days. but sereously, im one of the few who has stuck with Runescape since Classic. i didn't used to like it all that much, but over the years the rate of improvement has been incredible. i played for free for years, and i admit, the free game isnt that great. but after my friend convinced me that membership is awesome, i decided to try it. after all, its only $5 a month, what did i have to lose other than maybe the cup of coffee i could have bought instead?

And it was definitely worth it. it was actually pretty entertaining. there is so much more to it than just killing things like most MMORPGs. it has a very artistic feel to it, and it has a sense of humor in its hundreds of different small bits of story lines. take for example WoW, possibly the most popular MMORPG there is. its based mostly on combat, its pretty realistic, has good graphics, and in the end, everyone loves it. but its really expensive and is rarely updated. and there it is. the thing i like most about Runescape, it's updated all the time. each month features a huge update along with lots of smaller ones, and the smaller ones are usually graphical improvements. slowly the graphics are getting better and better. and possibly one of the most impressive things about Runescape is the way they get the ideas for the updates. the players choose them. the players tell them what they want, and thats what they get. how many MMORPGs actually do that? see something you don't like, then suggest it be changed, if enough people agree, it gets changed.

and in the end, the people who seem to hate Runescape the most really don't. either they don't really know anything about it and only know what they have been told, or are mistaken in their own views of things through the perceptions of others. of course there are still going to be plenty of people who hate it for the simple reason that it just isn't appealing to them, and there are always going to be some of those for everything. but ive found plenty of examples of people who only THINK they hate it. at my school i was playing Runescape once and some other students came up to me and told me how crappy Runescape was and how i was a nerd for playing it. if you ever saw me "nerd" wouldn't be the first word you would think of. im about 6' tall and im a dirtbiker, and most people think im a little scary when they first meet me. not exactly a classic nerd. but when i asked them why it's crap, they couldn't answer. i knew they weren't expecting that question, but i did expect them to have some reason. they didn't. out of the three of them only one had ever actually played it, and that was 4 years ago, or in better terms, hundreds of updates ago.

many people are put off by the fact that it will never be complete, some just don't like it because its not something they are interested in, but the rest are simply victims of group psychology, swayed by the ideas of others. all im saying is try it, and think about what makes a game good other than graphics. it's one of the few games left with original ideas rather than different versions of the same old MMORPG elements. and above all, its one of the last games the values humor over blood. chatting with other people is as much of a part of any MMORPG as the game itself. and i find that those who are the most artistic are usually on Runescape rather than any other games.

so think about it, what matters more? graphics or story? blood or originality?

Topic: Stolen Submission?

Forum: Where is / How to?

earlier i found a stolen submission in the flash portal, i know its stolen because ive seen it on another site a few years ago. it did have some minor changes made to it, but it was still stolen work just with a little animation and music added. i blew the whistle on it and even included a link to it on the site i originally saw it on, but it still got submitted, and i probably got some negative whistle points (is there a way to check that?) i really hate to see people taking credit for things they didnt make, is there any way i can inform NG staff about the fact that its stolen now that it's passed judgement? i remember reading somewhere that it takes multiple people blowing the whistle on something to get NG staff to take notice.

any ideas?

some of them are justified as being bad... welll just barely, but some don't even make sense. like these:

ass - a donkey. it offends people if you say it, it offends donkeys even more that ppl are offended by their name im sure. could also mean someones back side, still not that offensive.

bitch - a female dog. sorry, i don't get it. how is that offensive?

of course there are others that are considered offensive for no appearant reason, these are just examples.

its impossible to know what happens after death. but ive given it some thought, i don't believe there is a god, but if there is, that doesn't necessarily mean he made a heaven and a hell. and even if they both exist i wouldn't want to go to either of them. hell is a place of suffering, and i don't much like suffering, and heaven is a place where you can have whatever you want for eternity. maybe that will be fun for a few million years, but it will eventually get boring, and boredom is the worst form of torture. worse even than physical pain. i know, ive experienced plenty of both. so in the end, heaven would get as bad as hell, it would just be extremely delayed torture.

and would god really send people to hell for eternity just for 1 screw-up? if he created all humans, aren't we like his kids or something? would parents do that to their kids? ive heard he's supposed to be a pretty nice guy, but eternal torture is worse than what the government would even do, and that's saying something.
