Think of it this way: you're halfway through your mental childhood. You've still got a growing mind that's constantly re-evaluating the world around you and how it works. You're living for the potential you continue to posess should you choose to cultivate it.

It's your potential, though. No one else's. So don't worry whatsoever about those who don't pick you for sports or call you ugly or anything else. They're unimportant in the course of your life, once you're out of grade school you can just remove them entirely from your life and never look back.

It's really interesting how some of the people that rub me the wrong way the hardest end up earning the most respect from me later on in their years on the BBS. Prime examples are both gumonshoe and TropicalParadise. The both of you were, IMO, awful when you first started posting here. I'm not saying I hold it against you, just that it's there and that's how it was. And now I look back on your previous personas with a fond sense of nostalgia.

But yea, I don't know. I don't think it would've made a huge difference if I had started years and years before. I mean, this place has matured a lot over the years as well. Having spent some time reading topics from before mine, I can say with certainty that I wouldn't have jived well with a bunch of the old regulars. I was just coming out of a pretty rough patch in my life when I was 13, so I almost surely would have been willing to share that and all the negativity that comes with it here.

I wouldn't say that you're one of the people which inspired this thread. To put it simply.

Ah. Well... I still feel inclined to defend intelligent posting.

Oh dear, weird emoticon. Is that a sign of sarcasm?

Nah, just to show I was joking. Excessive goofyness, if you will. Sortof to prove I'm not a total chotch.

I confess I'm not a fan of cynics. If I might be hypocritical for a minute here, it speaks for a total lack of trust in people and indicates personal dishonesty.

But hey, we all have things that bother us for no apparent reason. I mean, I also hate people who are capable of treating things with some level of maturity, but never do. Goofing off is just so boring and tame. It's much more interesting to me to provoke something thought-provoking. You could call that my ulterior motive for posting intelligently, or you can continue to believe it's some unspoken need for respect. Personally, I see respect and intelligence as seperate issues entirely. I respect a lot of the dumbasses around here for different reasons.

Anyway, great thought-provoking post. You've made me respect you more! ^-^

Someone could screenshot your work and then claim it was orphaned art when they spent enough time 'diligently searching' for it and unsurpisingly did not find anything. The burden would then be on YOU as the artist to take them to court and prove that they either did not search diligently enough or that they manufactured the status of your art as orphaned through copyright infringement. Alternatively, you could just ask them for reasonable compensation.

Personally, I don't know what to make of this. If it passes, I'll probably remove all my creative work currently online. It'd be nice if there were any place that actually let you read the bill in its entirety. Because I can't stand trying to glean stipulations from a bunch of articles constantly ramming down my throat how awful this bill is.

Energy can be created and destroyed according to the following formula:
---- Energy = (Mass)(299,792,458 m / s)^2
Einstein figured that out, it's what makes the atomic bomb possible.

But yea. The law you're trying to refer to is still true anyway. Modern scientific theory contends that the universe is expanding, that the big bang WAS NOT just a spontaneous event where matter was created, but that previous to the big bang all matter was located in the same precise point. That's a basic summary. Suffice it to say though: we won't figure out any of this within any of OUR lifetimes.

I love that people use things like "It's Hitler's birthday" to try and convince others that they shouldn't enjoy the day. Just because you dwell on psychotic and long dead intolerant world leaders doesn't mean everyone does.

So, yea. My April 20th will be spent on Orchard hill here at UMass. There will be thousands of people, live bands playing, and a police presence purely to ensure that the crowd doesn't get out of hand. AKA: to stand around and do nothing. It'll be a blast, I'm hoping the weather is nice for the day because that's pretty much all that's necessary for a successful day.

If you're already treating everybody as if they were equal, that shouldn't be your consideration. You have to show the women you're interested in your interest in the first place.

EVERYONE cares about 'getin sum pussy'. You just might not have that as your primary concern when it comes to a relationship with women. But unless you show interest, women aren't going to know you're interested. They go for the guys who aren't afraid to show interest because the traditional girl is supposed to hide interest.

You're either becoming an acquaintance with the women who are dating douchebags, getting yourself 'friend-zoned' with them, or you're just plain not making any attempt whatsoever. Obviously, those that do it right will have more success than you. Quit sulking and move on and make another attempt.

Seriously, if any one of you are as nice a guy as you insist you are then you have to know that every woman would be SO lucky to have you. Quit wallowing with your low self-esteem and do something about it.

I've always had a problem with the whole 'nice guys finish last' mindset. I mean, I'm a nice guy, but I'm totally uninterested in fucking all sorts of sluts. I go for what interests me in women and that's that. It's been a decent road, and I'm certainly not racing anybody else, much less the 'assholes' from your metaphor. Nor am I in any sort of hurry to reach the end.

If you're not getting the women you want, it's because you haven't yet figured out what the women you want want themselves. Once you know what they want, that's that. Give it to them. This process is useful because in figuring out what the women you want want, you can figure out if you even want the women you want based on what they want.

Ever over-use a word to the point where it looks and sounds silly when you see and read it?

The shore. The water, the waves crashing, the smell, the sights, the beach in the summer and at night. All of it.

Being with women as well, but duh.

Driving aimlessly with good music and good company.

I dunno. There's many more things that just automatically jive with my personality. It's hard to listen 'em all off, though.

No. I found the coin-toss scenes sortof cliche. The car crash scene at the end was brilliant. Gratuitous, but brilliant. I did like, though, how they A: didn't show the result of the second coin-toss and B: the woman refused to play.

Any sort of cliche was forgivable anyway. The fact that the storyline for the movie was so anti-cliche made it worthwhile. Seriously, you NEVER have cop vs. bad-guy movies where...

SPOILER ALERT!

...

...

...

... the bad guy never gets caught. That's absolutely great. There's no knocked-down dragged-out battle between the main characters, just continued attempted murder until one side prevails.

I just watched "No Country for Old Men" yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. Well done, nearly lacking cliches, and an original bad-guy and everything. I wouldn't say the industry is nearly 'dying', as you so dramatically put it, but rather it's doing the same things it's always been. A bunch of movies get put out every year and over time only the best of those movie remain within everyone's memory.

Wow. That's hilarious that your reaction to their music is the same as my buddy and I's reaction. We were looking into tickets for Ozzfest '06 and heard that DRAGONFORCE had been named the surprise guest band. We were both like "wtf? Who the hell is dragonforce, we were expecting someone amazing." So we look up their most popular song, give it a listen, and simultaneously are like "wow, it sounds just like an intro to the awful anime our suitemate watches."

So yea. I don't like Dragonforce's music or style or pretty much anything about them. Other than it's extremely entertaining to watch my guitar hero obsessed friends attempt to beat their song on Expert.

Nope, we have to individually delete every new post in the thread so that it goes back to where it came from in the topic listing of the forum. That's why we get so bitter and apt to ban you when you're bumping extremely old threads pointlessly.

But yea. That thread was locked because it wasn't producing any funny images anymore. Photoshop threads that revolve around a single picture can really only last so long before the ideas run dry. Not to mention, once those who actually know what they're doing with photoshop have finished using the thread, it's only the noobs with MSPaint offering things. An administrator no doubt locked the thread, and it was locked because it had reverted to the majority of people posting "lol" or other things and/or awful MSPaint offerings.
