Topic: NGAP lost it's original intent?

Posted: 08/29/08 11:46 AM

Forum: Audio

Yeah, well while it may belong int he AP evolution thread, I didn't think it belonged there. I didn't really give any new suggestions... + For the most part every AP regular knows that the evolution thread doesn't really mean anything. It's just another place for people to say "I wish"

This was more of an issue that I thought people NEEDED to recognize for the good of the audio portal. In all honesty, if paragon was still making music you know the top 5 would probably be renamed "Paragon 5" or something. Same goes with B0UNC3 and other big artists. But honestly, and no offense to him because I respect him but I don't think DJ nate needed his song up there... He's going to get 1000 downloads on it even if it isn't on the top 5. The top 5 basically just gave him a few extra votes/downloads and took them away from someone else that could have deserved them.

Again, no offense to him. It was just a good example.

I feel saddened today! Why!?

Because I realized something I'm sure everyone else has realized. When I say original intent I don't mean use for flashes. I mean people submitting music DAILY for the sake of getting their music heard.

Nowadays you ONLY see a big rush of submission on tuesdays or tuesday nights. Are people that greedy that they will only submit a work if it has a chance of getting top 5? I think this is a worse problem than 0 voting personally.

People's greed has turned the AP into a weekly spam fest. Continually you see the same artists on the top 5 when you realize all their songs have been submitted on tuesdays. You don't NEED the top 5 to get good scores. It should be used to get unrecognized artists attention, not everyday well-known AP artists extra attention. It just doesn't seem right that this place is a ghost town the day before the top 5 is reset.

I know I've been one to shoot for the top 5, but I realized. Whats the point? It ruins the intentions of the top 5 if everyone on it can get 200+ downloads on their own WITHOUT it. meanwhile, perfectly good submissions go unnoticed because they dont make the cut, but the powerhouses of the AP continue to +1 their downloads/votes/reviews E penors.

Can anyone answer this?
the answer is no, you'll need an audio editer for that. or maybe a special plugin, not even sure if its entirely possible.

Actually it is with tons of Eqing. I don't know exactly how to do it but there are tutorials that tell you how to do it. You have to Eq the shit out of the song to only get the frequency that vocals are on. It wont elimate the backround noise completely, but yeah.

Don't worry about it, we're here to help.

I am having the exact same issue, but let me be a bit more specific. I have started two beats, and even extended the bars.

ok.

However, it will cut off after the first run through.

Is it a premade loop? Because some loops only go for 1 measure.

So, I read the previous comments u posted, and I saw that I needed to extend the pattern. So, I believe I have done that, but here is my issue:

I started off with a basic beat, then I wanna add a lil piano to it, and build up for three 16 bar verses and four hooks.

My first part is done I guess, so how do I add to it, without loosing what I already did? Do I need to create a brand new one from scratch, and if so, how will that work?
Or, is it as simple as doing an additional pattern? And if this is the case, how do I do that?

Create a new pattern! On the playlist there are a bunch of numbers on the side from 1- 1 zillion or whatever. Click on a new one and start your new pattern from there!

Lastly, I know how to go to FL keys and access the piano. But, I don't have a midi board, and the keyboard is not working when it comes to using the piano. Since it is hard as hell to do on the mouse, how can I do this?.

Right click on the piano and select "send to piano roll" theres your own personal little keyboard to work with.

Thanks sooooo much for any help. I am goin crazy with all this.

:D

Is there a way to have more than one time signature in one song? Like have a song that starts in one time signature then switch.

Not that I know of besides switching the spacing in between the notes. I think it's swing session that I did that. (My song). It's in 4/4 but sounds 4/3

Cymbals are usually sold separately if you buy them from a local store... I know that a really nice ride alone can cost upwards of 150 bucks. Your best bet is to (lol) look on Ebay for people selling cymbal sets. I know I got mine (20" ride, 18" crash 16" crash 14" hi hat) for like 300 dollars or so.

The best tracks aren't chosen by a person. I believe theyre put up there by a ratio of score to votes or something like that. For example, a song with a 4.54 with 1500 votes is more likely to be up there than a song with a 4.6 with like 25 votes.

Nah, I only really respond to long reviews. Like ones Karco or MaestroRage leave. Or ones where I feel compelled to respond to.

I'll respond to reasonable reviews if they give a point as to why they like or dislike it rather than just saying nice job.

I respond more to negative reviews actually.

E-mail: *** (starred on purpose. his email was in the pm but yeah, I figured i'd give him some respect)
Forums: forums.drakeal.com

also the songs will be used under a copyright for a MMO thats under construction, the online game will be space-like, mainly combat and standard songs.

understand this will be a private comission releasing the song on newgrounds or any other site will vold the comission.

if you have comission fees please send them to me.

I dont understand the last line. "if you have comission fees please send them to me."

Does that mean I make him a song and then pay him for putting it in his game?

The abuse isn't for serious. If you post on the audio forum you should be used to that already. We all joke around but if you cant take a joke it can be seen as abuse. Srsly, make a stupid post in the audio forum and see how it's greeted. The vent is the same way just vocalized.
