I'd like to see some sources for this. I haven't heard anything like that lately, and Chilean media just LOVES bashing on Chávez.
Furthermore, it's stupid to think that all the violence comes from ther pro-Chávez side. Many Chavistas are insane and there's no denying that, but keep in mind that being anti-Chávez doesn't necessarily makes you pro-democracy. Let's not forget that many anti-Chavistas were dancing and prancing to the military coup that appointed Carmona as President, which didn't give a lot of hints of it becoming a functioning democracy.

Oh, I see! Well, that makes me feel better. And I thought it was just an average brutal dictatorship. But hey, it was a cold war, so it's all good! I'll spread the good news around here and then maybe we can stop hating each other to death. Boy, I can't believe I hadn't realized this!

I just thought the president would be the reason for voting and the people would not be concerned with the running mate.
By that logic, what difference would it make if the president had already assumed office or not? In both cases the people wouldn't have cared about the vice-president, and as such he shouldn't take the other guy's place.
It just works in the same way. The vice-president steps in because he's the other dude that folks voted for. Whether or not the voters actually liked him, well, too bad.
Some moron scanned and posted his personal documents on this thread. Any mods care to delete those links, or something?

I'm curious. When was the last time that you actually posted something relevant instead of merely jumping in the middle of some flamefest in order to suck somebody's cock?

You seem to completely miss the point. It's absolutely irrelevant whether or not you are Lebanese, because that does not justify thinking that it's okay for a raped woman in Saudi Arabia to be lashed to near-death, or that girls who wear mini-skirts are whores. Your life story has no importance whatsoever on the argument you're making if your only response to anything that is argued is "but I'm an Arab and I speak Arabic, and you don't!"
To Dante:
You said that im stupid and i cant even spell right. My main 2 languages are Arabic and Portugese, that explains why i make some (or alot i dont know) of mistakes while typing in English.
Not spelling right passes. But you have meaningless, unfounded and just plain dumb arguments, you cannot understand irony or sarcasm, and you just
posted your goddamn personal documents on the Internet. I am pretty certain that you're a moron.
And i didnt run away, unlike some people here, i have a social life out side the PC so i cant stay on all the time.
And yet you still have the time to, and allow me to be clear here, scan and post your personal identity documents on a public forum. Do you know how much money I could get from those pics in a shady department store down on Patronato street and/or how long would it take for Ali Ahmad Hassan to be investigated by the Policía Federal for laundering coke money? You went out of your way to do something particularly stupid in the Internets. You don't seem to have much of a social life.

Sometimes there's no need to overanalyze these things. Way I see it, illegalizing abortions would result in abortions being illegal, and legalizing abortion would result in abortions being legal.
Of course, that's not to say that some groups don't go too far on this. The Chilean right-wing, for example, has gone completely bathsit fucking loco on its efforts to prevent the circulation of the morning-after pill.

What a bunch of cuntbags. If you're going to throw a nationwide student protes, you at least do it for a decent enough reason. Not just "waah, I'm having 20 more minutes of school each day, now I can't watch Pokémon, waah".
Now kids are going to lose several days of school and some of them will get the shit beaten oit of them by the police thanks to a bunch of self-proclaimed rebels with deep ideologies such as "omg skool sukz0rz"

There's an extremely obscure documentary, largely ignored by mainstream public, called Sicko. Created by unknown director Michael Moore. Apparently, the OP thought that he should lecture the illiterate masses by simply repeating a couple of lines he heard in that piece of film.
While David Bowie may be past that phase and she was never a pretty girl to begin with, he pwns in all things androgynous.

Commie I am.
This test is bogus, inaccurate and the questions can radically change their meaning according to context, though. For example, I probably wouldn't have chosen "completely disagree" with "the freer the market, the freer the people" if I lived anywhere other than Chile.
Still, I tend to rank in the pinko side whenever I take this test. None of you should feel defined by this, though, since many questions are downright badly presented.

But they have lavish social programs. And they work. The issue here isn't which country in the Western World can juggle with the largest amount of issues of every kind while maintaining a stable society (and the US is probably up for taking the cake there, I'm not contesting that), it's simply which one's got a better working healthcare system. Or whatever. I didn't watch that video, since I fear that, despite the thousands and thousands of miles of distance, Michael Moore may eat me, through the screen. But you can't just say "we'd have a pretty good healthcare if it wasn't for the minorities". A country's supposed to have a healthcare system that works the best for its particular circumstances. Norway's got it easier since they're a bunch of euro-hippies and vikings and shit. But their according to the very few that I know about different healthcare around the world, their system covers their needs pretty good, the US's, not quite.
I mean, Rainbow Unicorn Fairy Chocolate Candy land might have a great pension system, and I might argue that in our defense they've never had to deal with the ups-and-downs of South American economy because over there they use chocolate money that rains from the skies every Sunday, but I can't say that we've got a better system.
Now, if that Moore guy's saying "omg let's copy/paste nor-wee-gian helthcare here kk", he's a moron. If it's just a suggestion to try something more or less in the same direction, it'd be worth consideration.
Meh, Sweden's better than Norway anyway. Plenty more Chileans there.
I can't celebrate Turkey Day. I'm not Turkish.

Actually in Chile you can still clearly discern between people who are racially white, those who are definitely more Hispanic in appearance, and those in between. I don't seem to recall any significant difference between the smartiness of kids from each side of the racial spectrum.
Some kids are born stupid and some kids are born clever. But most kids turn stupid or clever by the way they're raised.
It's social, not racial.

Yes, that's one of the things that happened with Pinochet.
The irony with the Tata was that one of the main reasons that fueled his rise to power was the misconception about Allende being backed by vast, well-armed popular militias and cuban-influenced extremist groups that would in any moment stage a self-coup and install a repressive communist dictatorship. Decades later (Well, actually right away, but only admitted after the return to democracy) it was confirmed that this wasn't the case, and the few groups organised enough to pose any resistance only started to become overtly violent and armed in order to contest the use of force by the military. Of course, this isn't to say that the resistance cells were heroic spartan warriors of the upmost integrity; Miristas were followed by Frentistas which were followed by Lautaristas, and each group became more insane than the last.
But yeah, Pinochet's attempt to thwart revolutionary forces planning to install a communist government spawned a series of revolutionary forces planning to install a communist government. Strange, how these things work.

So I've been thinking of joining the Something Awful forums. I mean sure, everyone in there is a fat fuck with Asperger's and no life, and mods are fascist agents of death who will banninate you for no reason at all, and you have to PAY for it, but I haven't seen a single ad-hominem in the entire 5 pages of po-li-tics I've skimmed thorugh so far, and there are no "omg bush is dum"/"i het towelheds"/"communism is good, fo reel, it just hasnt been implemented properly yet" threads, and people in general actually seem to know what the hell they're talking about.

Jews, much like any other ethnic/religious/cultural grop, have positive and negative examples of their achievements.
In one hand, they've got Jerry Seinfeld and Bob Dylan.
In the other hand, they've got Rob Schneider and the topic starter.
