Gaza still uses the sheqalim, and before the recent conflict, they were supported financially. Theres no doubt about it. They were given free resources like clean water and power, all built by Israel. Palestine was nothing but a sand box until the Jews built Tel Aviv. I don't see why they can't. Descartes did a pretty good job bonding religion and science. In my opinion, there are stuff you can explain (science comes in), others you can't (religion comes in). But it's not just about a basic opposition between mysticism and scientism.

I find it annoying to always oppose religion and science as they mutually need one another to exist (at least in my opinion). You should read about Upinsky, I dunno if his books have been translated into english though, but his stuff is pretty interesting.
