Yeah... I looked through that...

The JBLs you linked were rated at 250/1000.. which would be cool if I got four of them.. but..

The amps.. yeah.. I'm just flat-out retarded with signal amplification. When it comes to linking up wattage to Ohms and running dual channel vs. bridging mono..

I can't even brain that sober. Perhaps I should have a conversation with my friend that used to do a lot of car audio stuff on amplification.

As I said before, if you have any suggestions to a passive setup with similar and/or better specs to what I'm looking at with the active stuff... fire away! I'm not locked into going with an active setup, but mainly going with it for ease of setup and so I don't have to deal with matching up components.

Agree, and that even goes for the studio as well. There are powerful bi-amplified setups by Dynaudio (probably the best of the best) that are great for studios.

And this.... is one of the main reasons I'm really thinking on getting the B415 DSPs, as they are bi-amped... with separate amps running the woofer and compression driver.

I guess it depends on use to some extent. I'm sure there are some valid reasons to that... but unfortunately, the main reason seems to always be the almighty $. Greed is some nasty business.

It'd be nice to have some sort of flexible copyright law that allowed for a bit more room in creative works.

Work, yes. But the amps in active PAs are designed specifically for the speakers and enclosure they are powering. You tend to get much better sound with less EQ work by running an active setup, at least from my experience so far and talking to other people in the field.

Agreed, if it is into a product that results in financial gain.

If someone wants to chop something up and release it for no benefit on their own accord.. well.. there shouldn't be any restrictions against that. It kinda follows along the thoughts of free speech.

Then again, most of the time... things like that are never prosecuted or even messed with.. because there's no money attached.

Sorry to say this, but I'm pretty sure that Behringer (quite deceptively) references their peak power, not their RMS. Those 400w speakers are probably going to pump out about half of that.

I know. The RMS is 200 for those.

4x200=800

The beefier ones rated at 600 watts sit at 400 RMS.

3x400=1200 ;3

Yeh.. but you see what I'm looking at now at least.

Passive Speakers

I've thought about going that route.. but I generally avoid the passive route as you have to make sure to match an amp well to the speakers you are using.

And as for a powered mixer setup... most of the packages that include them seem to not have enough power for the speakers they are included with.

If you have a good suggestion that pairs up amps and speakers for a price similar to the active ones I'm looking at though, I'd definitely be interested.

Legal or illegal doesn't necessarily equate right or wrong. (In fact, I'd go as far to say that most of the time it doesn't)

Anywho, as for sampling.. if it is done in a manner that puts a new spin on a song (remixing) or is used to create something entirely new (slicing beats, hip hop stuff, etc).

Unfortunately, the disease that is copyright law doesn't agree with that, and thus legality varies depending on use and location.

So maybe the next thought should be:

Copyright Laws: Right or Wrong?

I'd definitely argue favorably for copyright when it comes to attributing the original artist of a work, invention, production... whatever. If you make something, you should be properly credited and compensated for it.

Unfortunately, copyright laws nowadays have expanded to the point where they can heavily suppress creative thought and forward movement in society.

RMS mainly.. And yes, unfortunately the pack of 200 series models would only hit about 800W total RMS, but I can live with that until I add on a floor sub, which would bump it over 1000.

Well, my thought is that I absolutely have to have at least 1000 watts or power.

The more, the better with me. I just need a lot for cheap.

There are much cheaper packages out there, but you don't get the type of kick you do with these.

Yeah, but if I do get the package, one of my first purchases will likely be a powered floor sub to compliment it all.

I dunno. I'm just trying to figure out how to get the most punch for the money, with decent features and such to compliment.

Awesomes.

I definitely think this will be one of the next additions to my setup as well. Great features... gah.. I'm almost turning into a Behringer fanboy if that's possible lol. If I get either of the PA systems I'm looking at, I'll own like 7 of their products.

Ok, so I've basically got this narrowed down to two packages.

3- Behringer 415 DSP Powered Speakers- $400/unit

1- Behringer Xenyx 1222FX 12 Channel Mixer- $180

1- SSP7855 Professional Speaker Stand Pak- $80

---orrrr---

Behringer UB2442FX/B215A Mains & B212A Monitors PA Package- $1400

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringer-UB 2442FX-B215A-Mains---B212A-Monitors-PA-P ackage-799511-i1322767.gc

Your thoughts?

If you're wondering, I'm running with Behringer on these because at the moment I need a lot of power on the cheap, and both of these lines are good proven products.

I'll also be adding on an extra 2 year warranty to extend the warranty out to three years, so I'm not too concerned. (If the shit lasts three years with as many gigs as I play, I'll be damn well impressed)

As I was saying... recently.

And that applies to things that were designed recently.. as in.. past year or so.

Behringer has released entire lines of stuff that were utter shit. LIke, not just the occasional bad unit, but... ...let's compare it to the Xbox 360. You know it's going to die, just not when.

Like their DJX stuff.. well.. their DJ mixers in general. Wouldn't buy one.

Of course... avoid lemons altogether by buying a 2 year or so extended warranty and you're golden.

I do that on all equipment nowadays that is over $100 or so.

Actually, Behringer stuff has been getting a lot more reliable recently. Still budget minded, yes. But overall, their recent ventures have produced some very solid stuff.

I run a little Xenyx mixer/preamp as a portable solution for when I need to hook up multiple deck setups to an amp without an in-house mixer and/or just need a way to run my mic.

I've also heard great things about their new line of PAs that came out last year. Heavy as hell supposedly, but the components are solid and hard to beat for the price. Just gotta do your research.

Awesome.

Yeahhhhh... there's no point in flame-baiting.. etc. And jeezus.. OP, if you are 28... do you really need to go off whining and bitching about a 14 year old because they are having success on the site?

Even if it is just a bunch of other 14 year olds that have ganged up to push another one to the top... that's how this site works sometimes.

Deal with it. It's not like getting a top 5 here is going to net you some big record contract. If you're lucky, most you'll get is a few fans and an E-peen boost.

PM convo goes as this:

Flash Dude: Hey audio dude, could I use your I Like Big Dongs Song in my upcoming flash? There will be ads in it, so it could generate ad revenue.. I wanted to make sure that is cool with you.

Potential responses:

1. Audio Dude: Sure man, no problem! =D What's it about?

2. Audio Dude: Sounds good, how much do you think you will make off ads? If you make anything, do I get a split?

3. Audio Dude: FUCK NO I HATE COMMERCIALISM HOW DARE YOU EVEN CONSIDER MAKING MONEY OFF OF MY MUSIC. I DON'T BELIVEAKL IN MONEYS AND DONT WANT NO PART IN ANY MONEYSS GRAKLHALKDTHALKDHTALKDT!!!11!11

Really, there are only a few things that will happen.. and.. realistically, you're most likely going to get 1 or 2, assuming the account is active.. which of course.. if it wasn't.. you'd get 4. lol

But yeah, you don't need a formal agreement really... just make sure to get permission.

Yep, there's nothing wrong with using the artists here for commercial work.. (making money)

You just need to arrange for a separate license for that with the artist. Most people here are pretty responsive via PM, so that's the way I'd recommend to go if that is what you want to do.

(Of course, if you do end up making money, it's only right to give the artist their due as well)

The only problem with the genre themed weeks is that some of those don't get enough good material on a regular basis to make up a full show.

I think the idea of variety... which will carry a different theme from week to week anyway by having multiple hosts (no two people have exactly the same taste in things) . That way the show sticks to fresh content, and every show is different.

I'll probably go all out and get the signature edition so I get all of the goodies with it.

I do already own the M-Audio Torq software and Xponent hardware for mixing as that is the only electronic music bit I'm doing for money right now, but I would like to do production at a professional level eventually, so now is a good as a time as ever to make that step I think.

I used to have a weekly online radio show called The Tuesday Zerobombcast where I played the best tracks I'd found from the submissions from the past week. I finally killed it due to complete lack of interest.

(I'm sorry, but my time is worth a bit much to spend several hours sifting through the AP and then a couple more to DJ for two people.)

However, if we could drum up attention, I'd gladly fire something up, maybe get a team of people that switched out from week to week to run it, that way it wouldn't get so fatiguing and would stay fresh.
