anyway it doesn't really matter. Both systems have games that the other side would want, so it's not like you can say either one is perfect.

Find me an object that has NO height or width whatsoever.
there is no tangible object that is 1-D or 2-D. That's a given since we live in a 4d world of 3d objects. But you can conceptualize 2d objects and what a 2d looks like.
plus, in order to have depth you must have the first two dimensions. SO to say they don't exist in just not thinking.
Truly, what I want to know is how Obama planson creating a better output school system, when essentially the whole point of that concept is that schools can't make excuses for failing performance. Excuses are not just desperate attempts to keep a school open, their pleas from school that say that there are other factors outside the classroom which would cause any school, public, private, or charter to fail miserably.
You should all take look at this report filed by Great Lakes Center
We are in the middle of a education revolution people and we have to makes sure that we are taking this in the right direction. Don't close schools, but change the neighborhoods they are in so Out of school factors create a positive environment for learning and not a disabling one. http://www.greatlakescenter.org/docs/Pol icy_Briefs/Berliner_NonSchool.pdf
Overall longer school days are a must. However, I don't agree with charter schools. They don't significantly improve student performance and they don't provide for special needs students. They are run by a board of CEOs and not by people who are educaton oriented people. Education is not a business, it's life.
This happens a lot at night, in the morning and just when I'm really tired. It's usually while I'm reading a book late at night or eating breakfast. Just suddenly my leg will kick out or shudder. Sometimes it's not my leg. Sometimes it's my elbow or shoulder. It'll just quickly shudder and then stop. I don't think this is restless leg syndrome since I don't kick a lot in my sleep. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this sort of random tensing up of muscles when you're tired. It's just a violent twitch that happens every so often.
This whole thing is really dependent on what you consider a God. My theory is that because 3rd demesional beings are sentient and make decisions every day that affect their universes, we live in a world where each demension is distributed a certain amount of control over other demensions and are therefore in ways, gods in other dimensions. Humans make decisions that affect their individual lives, this means that the 4th dimension being (entire expanse of your life) is changed and therefore the 3rd dimension has a god-like power over the 4th dimension.
However, the 4th dimension must exist for a 3rd dimensional object to exist because the object must exist within time and space. So the 4th dimensional being must be a complete being. And so while our decisions influence the paths in our lives we take, the paths themselves are already drawn out, existing as 4th dimensional objects in the 5th dimension.
We all have a million different destinies that are set in stone, and our decisions affect which destiny we will arrive at. The 4th dimension controls us always, like a god, but us as 3rd dimensional beings get to choose which 4th dimensional being we serve under.
K so I'm really pissed at what this conversation has disintegrated into. Grow up people.
This idea is derived from a basic knowledge of string theory and logic. The plain and simple fact is that every 3-D object has a 4-D counterpart, which takes the forms of the objects entire existence of the object in the universe. That means that there is an infinitely massive being somewhere who for simplicity's sake begins for people as a fertilized egg. As you look further along this snake-like being you see this person in all the stages of his life. In fact, when this person dies and goes to bone and ashes, the single line that was the person's life splits as the ashes (the body is merely a collection of particles grouped together) and atoms scatter.
So you look at this being and at some places you see a child, adult, old man, skeleton, and for the most part, ashes.
SO I posed this god idea because in a way we are our own gods, but at the same time we are not. This is because we cannot determine for ouselves the shape of this being until we have experienced the stage ouselves. To be able to see this figure would be to say we have a fixed destiny. So if we could see it, we would know it would have a god power over us. However, humans often intend to live certain ways and so like a clumsy potter, we roughly attempt to mold our 4-D self into the appearance that we desire. It's like playing with silly putty really since we know that our 4-D self must exist and it must be a complete structure. But the question is how complete is it and what is at the end of it?
String theory of course comes in because of the silly putty factor, our 4-D self could actually be revealed to have an infinite amount of possible appearences. Possibility and probability rules the shape and sound of the higher dimensions.
generally tv, movies, and video games. But I'm pretty sure all the songs that I could possibly get into have already come out.
Yeah so there's two reasons why I'm asking this question. Firstly, I'm asking this because last year, my prom ask was last minute and I drew a picture of the girl and left a note, and that was okay but not great. Secondly, at my school the best prom ask gets free tickets to the dance. Kids in the past have done stuff for lighting things on fire so it spells out "Will You Go Prom with ME?" and coming into a girls class singing and serenading in the middle of a teacher's lecture is always popular. Does anyone here have some original ideas and have witnessed some cool ways of asking at their own schools.
Fundamentally, people must have certain rights or society breaks down. For instance, no government can exist without the consent of the governed. That is the natural right that the entire animal kingdom operates under.
Almost all other rights are matters of ethics and political opinion, which means they can be restricted or upheld, and are therefor not technically rights. a more appropriate word to use in most cases where 'right' is generally used are either 'granted rights' or 'foundational rights' they do not really need much explaining but the latter are rights that are specficied directly in the implied, written, or verbal contract agreed upon by the governor and the governed. Granted rights are rights that are established after the contract has been agreed upon but are almost always done so by the governor. Even with comparatively small countries, pure democracy is extremely difficult to achieve and so granted rights are generally established through a legislative authority within the government.
Another example of granted right is a law pertaining to the Freedom of Speech which is a foundational right in many countries. If a law says that you cannot practice Freedom of Speech (anything, anytime, anywhere) on government property, you have a redefined right. Restricted but at the same time a granted right
Hey I'm looking to find a website that has downloadable sheet music for really famous songs on the piano (specifically Against the Wind by Bob Seger). I can usually find the pieces that I want just by googling it but I can't find this song, so if anyone has any ideas could you help me out?
It's a simple fact that we are 3-D people. As 3-D sentient objects we are able to create things at least theoretically in the 1st and 2nd demensions (we can only imagine true 1-D lines and the closest 2-D object we can create is a projection of an illusion image). It is also true that without the lower demensions of 2-D and 1-D, we as 3-D people could not exist. And without a 3-D object existing as a single point in time, we could not conceptualize the 4-D world which for each 3-D,2-D,-1-D object contians the entire existence of the objects. For example, the existence of a 3-D person in the 4-D world is like watching and an infinitely long line of the same person. You would see a sperm and egg cell converge into a single embryo and the line goes infinitely long as the corpse of the person decomposes and branches in infinite directions as it scatters about the earth.
But the point of this explanation is that as 3-D people we can conceptualize and create 2-D. However, we cannot have a sentient 2-D object no matter what. We can't even begin trying to create a 1-D object so we certainly can't create a sentient one. We are not aware of their existence and their activities. It stands then that the creator is not aware of the creation's existence as a possibly living being. But seeing as 2-D, from another point of view is the creator of 3-D, that means that the things we draw on paper are not aware that someone created, even if they are living breathing things in their world. This is a parallel to the 3-D. If a 4-D sentient being drew on a piece of 4-D paper, conceptually it would have created a 3-D object. Perhaps this object turns out to be sentient as well. But since 4-D beings will only recognize other living beings as Expanses of Time (4-D object) then they draw 3-D objects (Single points in expanses of time) It is not aware it has created a living breathing being in a different dimension, and we are not aware that we have been created.
Are you trying to be ironic? If so, you've failed miserably.
As I'm sure you are all aware, the word 'shorty' has grown exponentially in popularity over the pass few years and is a word frequented by the hip-hop and rap cultures. But unlike the more obvious and graphic ways the music industry has exploited women (music videos to name one instance) the usage of the word 'shorty' has really been overlooked as an effectively oppressive trait.
Certainly, I'm sure a women would rather be called shorty than "bitch" "dumb ho" or even "woman" but frankly, I just don't really think that women have given much thought about it. In that case, we should make it clear that women don't seem to be much concerned with women empowerment anymore so maybe I'm just blowing hot air. I will say that I heard a political rap somewhere during the primary season of the elections where Hilary Clinton was referred to as "shawty" and that alone gave me a very negative image of her.
The way shorty is used in hip-hop is the method by which the rapper projects his love interest. However, while "shorty" itself probably refers to the well known fact that women are shorter than men, when used in the context of a club like Low by Flo Rider or Take you there by Sean Kingston, the result is that shorty is actually on the short of end of success and the man is believed to be the only way up for the woman. Essentially, "shawty" is shorter in stature than the man. In fact, I've noticed that as "shorty" has been used more and more, it as with all terms for women has been sexualized, and now shorty is being used to indirectly refer to the 'inferior' sex.
I'm not a woman's activist, but I like to complain. And so what I'm complaining about is that I hope that people will take notice (hopefully women will take notice, not counting on it though) and see how this word has gone from being used as a term of affection to a sexualized, degrading symbol of woman's subservience, vulnerability, and dependence.

I'll with you partially on music if only because western music was a largely restricted medium until modern times. I think the best music came out from 1920-1990, but then my opinion is based on where I thought artists had their creative freedom.
It's the same for everything. Who's like that today? You mean to tell me that, in the 6+ billion people alive today, there's not at least a handful of super geniuses who put these old geezers to shame?
But in the end, should we really punish the memory of people who came up with the original ideas just because we think someone else could have? Why celebrate anyone at all? We could say there could have been another Abe Lincoln, another Ghandi, another Plato. I think it's a positive that we select certain people to celebrate through the ages because as a group they are a celebration of humanity and progress. They inspire us to be the geniuses that we consider them to have once been.

Okay so this isn't an argument against the whole concept of consuming HFCS but in fact consuming as it is currently manufactured. So it'll probably take 5 years for the industry to clean up its act and we're back to where we started. Unlike cigarettes and asbestos there's no indication that people are suffering because of this specific contamination so this information in unlikely to change anything. Corporate companies would demand change anyway since its bad for business.

I support this but I also support a ban on sawed off shotguns since they encourage people to shoot where they "think" someone who broke in might be and not actually aim their shot. need it be said a gun should at least be aimed before it is shot. they're needs to be a minimum blast radius for shotguns for home defense.

Actually, when you consider who people talk about when they think of the main proponent of the bill, this could definitely be misconstrued as racist.

death is interesting because you have to ask "when does the body stop ceasing its activity?" you could say the brain controls all activity and thus after the brain stops functioning the body becomes part of the natural course of cause and effect. But perhaps on a microscopic level you need to have all the cell in teh body die individually in order to completely convert into an inanimate effect.

Did Pat Robertson call for his assassination simply because America hates anything that even has a slight odor of socialism?
As far as I know he really hasn't done anything wrong to his people or the world in general...
Not really, actually its because venezuela had a lot of promise in being a successful democracy when chavez first came to power. That would've been good in general because they have a lot of oil and probably a the friendliest oil shipper to the U.S. However, it soon became apparent that Chavez was preparing the change the country to a socialist nation and so our relations got stale since everything after that went bad, chavez and castro are good friends.
so in short, it's because the U.S likes Democratic nations and Chavez is taking this at one tie promising young democracy and abandoning it for socialism. He probably has good intentions too, but the U.S feels slightly pissed since as you can imagine, the list of stable free-standing democracies has grown thin.
Frankly, I don't see the problem with circumcision at all just since I think whatever happens to you as a tot is the parent's choice and they are responsible for the repercussions. Usually parents without a cultural obligation to fulfill won't have their daughters circumsized because the effects are far less traumatizing than they are for a male.
baby don't decide anything for themselves anyway. Parents go to all sorts of measure simply because they have this idea that raising a child a certain way will result in good outcome (playing mozart while the baby sleep). a 13 year old saying "how could you take my foreskin away from me!?" is essentially the same thing as him saying "how could just go and raise me without my permission!?" If I was a conjoined twin and the docs cut me away from my brother, should later claim that it was supposed to be our choices whether to be separated or not? I might've liked being a conjoined twin. But like every other medical procedure done on babies It's something that has been passed down the generations as a parental choice and it seems trivial to say otherwise.
