Turns out, not all of this true... in fact, none of it may be true... although it sounds like some of it is.
A post from 2k on the 2k forums reads:Hi guys,
Please do not believe everything you read on the internet.
This rumor circulating is not true.
Grab the Game Informer magazine. It's shipped out and should be to subscribers and on store shelves really soon.
And one from GameInformer:
The Bioshock 2 news that is running around the web is quite...interesting.
While we can¹t confirm or deny anything that is being said, let us give you a quick piece of advice: don't believe everything you read from some dude on the Internet.
If people had actually read the Bioshock 2 cover story from this month's issue...well, you will see how it matches up with the real deal when it arrives this weekend, as the rumors floating around are so amazingly wrong on a very "big" point. Watch for the magazine in stores and in mailboxes this weekend, so you will have your information soon enough.
I like that 'big' is in quatations... as if maybe there are still Big Daddies or that possibly there is more then one Big Sister. Who knows... I guess only time will tell.
It's not really a chord... but the sound of the plastic pick brushing against my low e (tuned to C) string at the exact same time the rubber beater of the drum kits slams into the skin of the bass drum makes me want to cream myself.
It's such a nice, solid-sounding 'thud'...

I want to see some players, just be human, not some sort of God of "insert video game title here"
Agreed... I always wished that G4 would start a Television show where we get to watch people play old games. I say old games because new ones would release too many spoilers.
But I think it would be awesome if tonight at 11 I could watch some average dude play through some old N64 of Playstion1 game. All the way through... no speed runs and no skipping any of the story or cutscenes. If it takes a few episodes, that's cool. I'll tune in next week too.
It seems to me, people like to watch others play video games... even non gamers. It's at least worth a shot, no?
I have faith this will be awesome.
There's a little guy that likes to worry in the back of my head though... and right now he's concerned about the lack of big daddies and the addition of enemy soldiers. He's afraid it'll stop being Bioshock and become just another FPS where you walk around a destroyed city and kill enemy soldiers and their pets. He's already played COD and he wasn't that impressed... he's not looking forward to Bioshock of Duty.
I told him to shut up though... he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Everyday this month matches exactly with everyday last month.
Check the calander on your comp if you don't believe me.
I never understood why disconnects weren't counted as a forfit.
This would allow players to see how often other players disconnect before starting the match... plus, forfits should affect the score in only a negative fashion. IE: The winner shouldn't get credit for winning (to avoid people cheating their way up the ranks with disconnects) but disconnects should be marked on the player that forfits to help drop them in rank to discourage this action.
Or something...

When compared to other Cashcows, that's exactly what it means.
anything with a Halo tag will sell, or get a lot of press.
Agreed, yet Microsoft havn't abused this nearly as much as other franchises have. Maybe they will in the future, but they haven't yet... Halo is probably one of the least abused 'cashcows' out yet everybody attacks it like it's the most over abused name and mascot on the planet.
Halo was an average franchise, maybe slightly above average.
Opinion, doesn't matter in this argument. I could easily say the same thing about Resident Evil. Who cares?
But it just got so overhyped by everyone that now people believe it's the best game around.
This is exactly what I'm talking about... overhyped how? It doesn't have nearly as much hype as Mario, Zelda, RE... it's just that popular on it's own merrits... and it did it with less games. Yet, because you personally don't enjoy it, you bash everyone that does by assuming they're all mindless idiots only buying into a press created fad. But the fact is, as far as press related fads go, Halo is probably at the bottom of the list... there are a million games that abuse their name far more then Halo. Just look at Blizzard if you don't believe me.
Halo isn't as abused as much as Resident Evil, but it sure helps sell mediocre RTS's and a throwing "Halo" on a title will get any piece of shit sold.
Once again, opinon about the title. I personally think Resident Evil games are shit... but you don't see me telling you that the only reason you enjoy RE is because the name is overhyped do you? No, but I should be... because the RE name is far more abused the Halos... yet when I say I like Halo, it's only because I'm stupid.
See, right now, you're just further proving my point... and sadly, you don't even understand why.
At 3/12/09 03:53 PM, Lagamuffin wrote: Look at how overhyped halo 3 was my friend.
That blows the entire RE series out of the water with one game.
Are you kidding me... look at the PR for RE5... and it's still not out. It's got so much hype behind it, there's even a special red XBox360 being made just for its release.
Not saying either game is better then the other, just saying that I agree with OP... Halo isn't abused nearly as much as it could be from a marketing point of view. They could do a lot more with it if they wanted.
They still might, who knows... but right now, Halo isn't the worst 'cashcow' in existance, regardless of what the average forum user wants you to think. I'd consider it about average... and I'd personally say that the RE name is abused way more then the Halo one.
I think it happens to everyone... very few of us are able to marry and die with our "first love".
I lost the first girl I ever fell in love with to my best friend... we had been best friends for 13 years. And when I say best friends... I mean it. We where like brothers. We hung out every day of the week. We lived down the street from each other, went to the same schools, where in the same grade, even had a lot of the same classes together. We learned to drive together, got fucked up for the first time together... everything.
One year I had to leave town because my grandma was sick and dying. I returned to find out that she had left me for him... pretty shitty thing to do .
You get over it... I mean, you never really get over it... but it becomes ok. It's a werid feeling to explain... you don't ever wake up and say "I'm glad it happened" but you don't wake up and feel bad about it. It's just another thing that happened and you realize, for better or worse, there's no changing it so you just deal with it and move on.
It's a life experiance... it helps you grow.

They would get a few dollars out of the full price if any.
I'd also like to add... that bands only get about a $2.00 a cd... that has to be split 5 ways. People downloading music hurts the labels more then the bands. That's not to say it's ok, you need the labels to have the bands... but Metallica weren't personally hurting from the lack of album sales.
Metallica, like most bands, make their money off public play of their material, merchandise, and concert perfomances. People downloading old "Kill 'em all" tracks didn't effect their radio play... and I highly doubt Metallica had to lower their fee to play the Mainstage at Woodstock because of napsters illegal downloads. If anything, the free downloads may have helped them charge more... after all, they where earning new fans.
So at the end of it all, they took people like me and you to court, over 40 cents.
And now you're going to give them $50 for a video game with their name slapped on the front? After they tried to sue you over 40 cents? You've got to be fucking kidding me...
Game was fucking awesome. The stage where you ride the raft was my favorite.
At 3/12/09 02:32 PM, thePariah wrote: if you were losing your hard-earned money because of people stealing your material, wouldn't you be mad?
The only reason they ever had any money to lose was due to the very same people they turned around and sued... it's like bitting the hand that feeds you or spitting in the face of your own mother.
How soon they forget where they came from, and who got them where they are.
And look at when they did it... after they cut their hair, sold out their sound, and started releasing shit like Load. Then Lars says, "our new album sales aren't as good as our old ones... maybe it's because our new albums are complete and utter trash but I'm too much of a self centered egotistal sack of shit to admit failure so instead... I'll blame it all on Napster, and sue my fans for not buying enough of my merchandise."
That's bullshit... and the fact that people like you support this type of greed makes me sick.
There's a kid in Africa who's never owned a pair of shoes, and Metallica want to take him to court because they only made 15 million this month instead of their average 17 million.

RE has done this as well... I'm with the OP in the fact that I'm not denying Halo makes it's money... but it's not as bad as it's been sterotyped. Everybody who likes Halo is instantly a stupid fanboy... but nobody ever says that to a fan of other games that market themselfs way more openly then Halo ever has.
I've never seen someone say "I like Resident Evil" and then gett attacked for it... but it happens every time somebody says "I like Halo". Why is that?
OP makes a good observation and I agree with it... just showing my support is all.
I gave up on Sonic as soon as he started talking.
It was then that i realized that Sonic was a douche bag and there was no going back... it was as if his personality was created by a 7 year old. Those cartoons where horrible and complelty smashed the image of Sonic that I had built up in my head for many years.
His lame friends didn't help either. Do we really need "Sonic AND FRIENDS?"... what was wrong with just Sonic? I accepted Tails only because he was an excuse to create a 2player mode. They should have never created any other friends.
Then his popularity got out of control and I couldn't stand to see people buying into it. I suddenly realized that anybody who thought that cartoon was cool was a fucking tool and I didn't want to be associated with those types of people in any way, shape, or form. Next thing I knew, he was the spokesperson for a shitty hotel company and had a pinball game... how fucking lame could he get? I had no idea what was coming my way...
Nothing has improved... it's all just gotten worse. The games suck, the crossover titles are worse then ever (Sonic in the olympics... vs Mario?), and the fans are more annoying then ever.
The way I see it, there are no 'pros' to Sonic. Those died 3 months after the release of sonic 2.
Plus, Resident Evil has spawned 3 major films and at least one CGI film... more probably in the works.
RE is a far bigger overated overhyped cash cow then Halo can ever dream of being.

The orange box
I'm glad to see lots of other people have taken this as well... now, when this really happens, we can all have faith in knowing that we can always play each other in TF... even when the rest of the world gives up on it. :)
Damn... she's younger then you, more attractive then you, more popular then you, has more money then you, and she did it all with a birth defect...
like it or not, I think she's better then us.
But then people won't give me attention or consider me unique and special when I explain to them that nobody can understand me.
Also, I've already spent too much money on eye shadow and black clothes with lots of pockets and/or chains... I can't go back now, I don't have enough money to buy normal-people clothes.
Which sucks, because now I look like a fucking idiot and people really do make fun of me... thus, my imaginary attention-getting problems have now become real problems and I'm unable to handle that because I'm a complete fake who didn't really want to be an outcast... I just wanted to act like I was. Truth is, I really wanted to be super-popular.
Fuck me.

My pussy doesn't fit in this costume...
Anybody else hear about that?
Anybody else heard about it yet? Not much has been announced but from what I can gather it's a racing game but with the catch that the courses are pre-designed with spectacular (movie-like) traps and events.
So as you're racing, you'll have the ability to spring traps or trigger events. It looks fucking awesome...
I hear Disney is involved... and my only worry is that it'll be one of those games that gets old quick. Like everything is exciting when it's new, but after the 3rd time on that course, it's all the same ane easily avoidable... only time will tell... but here's to hopeing some really epic shit comes out of it.
You lost me... What does the release of a violent video game on a console previously known for it's family-friendly ethics have to do with casual gamers?
Not being a dick, just confused.

It's the worst... the software my company uses to make our install packages has this "Drag and Drop" mentallity behind it. I hate it... it's so hard to do some of the simplest things simply because there isn't a pre-written option to do what you need.
It's gotten to the point where I hand code scripts that do tasks (move files, rename, check version numbers, etc)... then, in the drag and drop installer package, just use the options that allow me to call my handwritten code... thus reducing our expensive installer software to little more then an over-priced wrapper that compresses files.
I had Blender... it looked like a good place to get into 3D modeling, but not game design. To me, it came off more like a place to learn and experiament with basic fnctionaly (like switching model animations bassed on key presses) but not detailed enough to actually allow you to create a game... complete with menus and optional mini-games.
Although I don't quite agree with the rules
I guess I have no choice but to obey
From here on out, I'll do as you say
Those who decide not too, are just a bunch of fools
Hopefully this will help the new Newgrounds fans
learn to use their head when they post
and take the time to say the most
without the needless flaming tripe that always results in bans
From here out I do as you ask
Sonet form posting is all I will do
I understand on Newgrounds, freedom of speech isn't free
I have to admit that this is a difficult task
and I'll accept the challenge but only for you
I just hope this gets easier, it's quiet hard for me
Best woody Wood Pecker cartoon I ever saw was about a guy going over the falls in a wooden barrel.
If I recall, he never ment to do it... but just kept ending up that way after multiple failed attempts at catching the bird.
It was a good game.
People have taken it to the extreme though... I would have like to have played some sequals but it was no big worry that I didn't. One was enough and I kind of like it that way... it's a game that never got the chance to kill itself (ALA: Sonic).
Earthbound is offically safe as a good childhood memory... at least for now.
I worry Nintendo will bring it back... with shit waggle controls and lame hand drawn graphics to make up for their lack of system specs. It's been too long to revive now... let it stay dead.
Id' go for variety
WoW (RPG)
Starcraft II (I'll pre-order it) (RTS)
Madden 09 (Sports)
The orange Box (FPS)
Super Mario All Stars (Platformer)
I feel bad for not taking a GTA or SaintsRow game but there's just no room. With a little more though I might trade out Madden for GTAIV.
Strangly enough, a few of those games are games I don't currently play. Like Madden, for example. Right now I have too many choices so I skip the sports games... but if I could only have 5, I'd like a good sports title for the occasional variety.
Same with WoW... too many other games to play with my spare time. But if I only had 5, grinding for gear wouldn't seem like such a huge waist anymore. I'd definitly make sure I had what I needed to create a private server though... just in case Blizzards shuts WoW down on me.

Africa is hell... so I took a large sum of money that could have been used to help make it slightly better and bought a trip back to the land of the wealthy on my private jet. I made sure to empty my on-board toliet over their village on my way back. Me doing charity work was good press though...
It's a shame rich people forget what it's like to be poor and sick.
Probably lots of new weapondry still in it's beta phases of testing... new jet prottypes or new types of missles or software to control them.
Can we make a missle that flies itself? Maybe... lets find out.... in Area 51.
That's why everything you see or hear is crazy. It's all new shit or just plain ugly old shit modified to test new shit.
