you're so right. because obviously, k******************.com is the only website where you can upload artwork.

and the fact that newgrounds already has a flash and audio portal, and they wanted to expand to a different type of media doesn't change the fact that they're outright concept thieves.

if they wanted to have a new type of portal why'd they have to make it an art portal, yknow? they should have gone with the Lit Portal.... no wait, then they'd be stealing from writers-network.com or booksie.com.

ok then, they should have made a Video Portal... no wait, then they'd be stealing from youtube, metacafe, atom films, and vimeo.

ok then, they should have made a Photo Portal... no wait, then they'd be stealing from Flickr, PhotoBucket, Myspace, and Facebook.

ok then, they should have made a Porn Portal... no wait, then they'd be stealing from 90% of the internet.

i think we've made out point, carefulkiller. newgrounds is just a copycat website and should shut itself down.

i pretty much never ever post stuff on the BBS so when I do you know its important. so listen up! besides, look how big my penis is! RESPECT!

So the new layout obviously has some problems, but everything new has it's initial problems. The problems get worked out and the end result is usually a pretty gratifying experience. Why just look at Windows Vista!.... okay don't look at windows vista....

But really, yeah there are problems (and a lot of them are specific to the individual user's computer), but do you really think the guys behind this awesome site are just gonna leave it in tattered shambles? Hell no! They're just trying out their new thing, ya whiny douche-cocks! Give it some time. Jeepers!

Yes the site isn't quite as pretty and aesthetically designed as it was yesterday, but if anything I think that's a sign of good things to come. In the beginning of the year Tom mentioned a lot of big changes to come, so what makes any of you think they're going to end here?
(I've heard rumors about an Art Portal and a Lit Portal... hmm... seems like those would take up just enough space along the top bar to match the widescreen layout.)

Also, no one's forcing you to watch movies in widescreen mode. It's an OPTION! Since when is having more freedom and choices a bad thing? I'm sorry, I thought this was America.... turns out its actually a website that can be viewed all over the world. My bad.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is that you haters need to just calm down and give it time. I'll admit I'm not in love with all the changes myself, but I'm not throwing a fit about it and giving up on Newgrounds. I trust that these changes will eventually be for the better.

I personally can't wait to start making flashes in widescreen now that I know I have the option.

***I WILL ADMIT though, this is probably a wet dream for spammers who don't include a load screen and play button. The Autoplay thing is too idealistic. It would be a snazzy feature if this was a site that had only the highest quality flashwork, but that's never been what Newgrounds is about. That's gonna need some attention, but I'M CERTAINLY NOT GOING TO POST AN ENTIRE FRONT PAGE BLOG WHINING ABOUT IT.... not that anyone would do something like that.

High five Bob, lilJim and PsychoGoldfish! It's a terrific first step on the road to a better Everything by Everyone.

like the word "want" right there. damn it I wanted to caps that so bad that I sprained my hand.

"pus-spewing blood-gutted hell".... did you really think on a site populated by 13-21 year old boys no one was going to recognize a family guy quote? Stewie, Road to Rhode Island.

Anyway, Flash actually started off as a program called "FutureSplash Animator." Then when Macromedia adopted the company that made FutureSplash, they shortened the name and marketed it as Flash. It worked well because they were able to use it for the program, the runtime environment, the plug-ins, the player, etc. I like the name flash. Use it in conversation and anyone who knows anything about computers will have at least some clue what you're talking about.

I still only use AS2 but would LOVE to move on to AS3... i just wouldn't know the first thing about it.

My understanding is that AS2 is easier to pick up and get the hang of, but gets harder to use as you try to be more versatile with it, and do more with it.

AS3 on the other hand, starts off with a steeper learning curve, but once you get the hang of it is much easier to use and advance with.

So, in terms of learning curve, they're inverse relationships.

Ha. I was thinking the same thing. Who the hell recommended Blockhead 11 for the christmas 08 collection? It was submitted a week into 2009 and has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. Ghostmas is a halloween-holiday-thing.

I liked Lalo's flash, and I don't blame him for being upset. He's just voicing his opinion... which is something I wish wasn't so frowned upon among the community...

People are so quick to hand out "useless" review marks when they disagree with the popular opinion, even if they have good reasons to back it up.

Wish it wasn't such a popularity contest, but I guess that's hard to escape when so many users on Newgrounds are still in high school (where EVERYTHING is a popularity contest)

I've never posted in the BBS before, but I think this is a good time to start.

I wanted to first say thank you to the Newgrounds community for noticing my crap. You'll be seeing a lot more from me in the future (and I intend to do much more elaborate stuff than Santa's Green Dilemma).

Next I wanted to thank Tom for being as generous as he is. That's a lot of money in cash prizes. So to anyone who's bitching about not winning, or placing as high in the results, keep in mind that Tom doesn't HAVE to do these contests. It's pretty unselfish of him to give out such quantities of cash, so he should be able to hand the money out to whoever he wants. So there.

I would have ranked these a little differently, but I'm sure everyone has their own opinions about it.... which means nothing because Tom's is the only one that mattered :D
And I'm sure all $1000 of Asspro's winnings will go towards diapers for his new daughter (everyone should congratulate him).

I'm more than happy with 5th place, and I'm proud to have done so well amongst such stiff competition. Thanks again to Tom, the newgrounds staff and everyone else.
