Thank you so much, Its so great to have an extra pair of eyes take a look!
Ive been sketching around a bit and wanted to try out a semi-realistic anime/manga style. This sketch started out in my personal sketchbook and is roughly gone over with a pen tablet. I was wondering if anyone could point out anything weird/disproportionate before I continue, because my experience with non-realism is extremely limited. Maybe even composition ideas. Thanks for your help.
No seriously, is there anyone here that hits up the gym on a regular basis to pump iron and build muscle? I've recently decided to bulk up and was wondering if anyone here had some pointers. You know how it is, musicians and artists and the like are usually quite small in frame (or at least that's the stereotype hence the phrase "starving artist"). Im 5 ' 11" and 150lb (68kg) and I wanna make some GAINS
Allllllright, I was browsing deviantart and I came across a gallery that seems like it is full of fake drawings/paintings. I mean, they all look exactly like photos in the thumbnails, but when you click on it they are composed of several thin strokes of various colors, as if someone took the image into Photoshop and blended the hell out of every single part, or color picked and painted over nearly every possible place. Here is the gallery in question:

am I right or am I right?
I mean, if you have to tell people that it is not a photo filter then...somethings wrong somewhere.
Progress on my latest, I tried to draw a girl with jean shorts awhile back and it failed miserably, even with Carios' help. Hopefully this will right the wrongs. Im having alot of fun trying out airbrush techniques. Its so relaxing.
Starting up a new piece, I may call it Daddy's Girl. I'm designing and painting as I go. (Probably not the best of methods) I am worried about the background. I want it to be a significant scene, but It needs to compliment the foreground well. Really bad quality b/c of the 200k limit.
Yes, when it comes to individuals, maturity can be interpreted freely, but when it comes to the general public...There need to be standards that focus on everyone in general. That's just how things are.
Nice work! Its good to year you are looking for critique so that you can get better. I began art working with pencil and looking at your work I can tell you have a grasp many important fundamentals, such as light and shadow, and value. My advice would be to vary the overall contrast you have in your work, work on getting your tones to be more even (the noses and eyes seem very scratchy because of all the strips of lighter tones) and to understand layering and how it applies to fur. The fur that I see here seems to be composed of simple shading and hatching lines, some eraser marks here and there, but I encourage you to study how you can repeat a technique, blur it, and repeat to create a sense of volume to the bodies of these creatures. Hope I have helped! Keep drawing and have fun with it.

This is my first attempt at colour blending about 40 mins work and im not sure if the way I am doing it is the best way.
Any tips for a noob???.
Easy way out is to use the blender from paint tool SAI. But I usually color pick colors that are on the edges and like others have said, use a low opacity and several strokes to build up tone.
Finally done! TRIX. Thanks to those of you who gave your opinions and advice .
I think it really depends on the size of her breasts. If it looks weird don't put it in, if the composition feels like it needs something filling that space then go ahead. Do what is best for the drawing, not necessarily what is most realistic. Because she is an imaginary character, her tit size is whatever you feel it needs to be.
Thanks, I guess I'll play around with it and see what I like.
Just a quick question...
Would her right breast be visible at the angle she is turned? or maybe more/less? I know it looks weird it the moment, it is barely 50% complete.
I have tried looking at myself in a mirror but my fist held against my chest doesn't do enough justice hehehe.

I can still get it up If I stare at a cute chick's hands too long.

The composition on this one is excellent.

Am I missing something here? every time I get a new fan, I check the list and the same people are at the top and bottom since last time. I am guessing that the new fans are added somewhere to the middle of the list? Is this a problem with NG or do I have a screwy setting somewhere? Or is it always a certain number I am unaware of? Please help I like to thank my new fans :).
Hey guys! I was inspired by a youtuber I am subscribed to and decided to try doing some mech-ish style artwork. I went into it with a general idea for how I wanted the figure to look but am not sure about the electronics (specifically the piece at the back). If it helps, its main purpose is to wirelessly broadcast information from her nervous system to larger, external structures that are not to be drawn in this specific piece. I am worried that the piece is getting too busy, or that the design isn't convincing enough. thanks for you're help! If this turns out well I'll be doing some more.

I don't understand, its definitely not mature because she has panties on, and its not Adult because she is not fingering herself or anything pointing towards sex. Technically, you see about this much skin at the beach.
After a few minutes of uploading this, I got some pretty bad ratings, (currently 2.71). I do not understand why it deserves a vote so low, so I am requesting critiques here.
I have spent many hours honing my digital skills looking at professional artists and working to better my skills with each new painting. The ratings are so much worse than I am used to at my skill level ( i feel like I'm being downvoted to hell on reddit). I've been doing art seriously for 6 years now, and am at a much higher level than most of my peers. please shed some insight.

What's your resolution and dimensions?
also you know you should just make folders in one PSD to represent your merged layers as a whole.
I usually try to work around 4K resolutions.

sorry for the terribly incorrect spelling of hoarding.
I am currently in the middle of finishing up and artwork and am finding that i have about 4-5 different versions of a psd file. One for semi-merged layers, one for fully merged layers with final effects, one for testing, etc. Its beginning to worry me (especially since these are pretty expensive space wise (100-200 megs) that I have too many. Am I "hording" more files that I need? I feel like I need to keep all of them in case I see something I need to fix in the future. Do any of you do it? Or do I just need to let whats done be done and move on?
Thanks for you're advice/opinion,
DessinMaitre.
PS. I am aware that other programs like Manga Studio and SAI take less space but Photoshop is always going to be where I finish a Piece.
Something like this should have crisp clean edges with bold coloration. This would look better with more saturated colors, however a desaturated look CAN look good if done very well & consistent.
