If western governments felt there was a TRUE threat from the Middle-East, the area would be completely leveled and highly radioactive by now. The west wants to exploit the natural resources there, mainly oil, which drive the world economy.

I thank God there is Oil in the Middle-East, we'd have witnessed genocide otherwise.

It's unfortunate, but the words Gay and Queer have become common in today's modern vocabulary. Words like bizarre, strange and abnormal don't seem to carry any impact. I'd say that about 75% of people who actually use anti-homosexual slang aren't even homophobes. I work with teens and pre-teens on a daily basis, I speak from personal experience. Hate for and fear of homosexuality is on a constant drop thanks to awareness, and increased acceptance.

Nope, can't say that I've seen them (or it) either.

Gotta love Canada! Piracy here is fully legal, and if some money grubbing american producer wants to sue... the government curtly tells them to $%#^ themselves up the ass. CD's here are ALL under the 15$ (Can) mark (for a single cd, that is).

Hypocrisy-" a feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not; especially : the false assumption of an appearance of virtue or religion"

It seems to run rampant, and its not just the US government who's to blame. Our ancestors colonized the world, raped and pillaged... how convenient that when it is we who sit atop the world, all these practices become barbaric and unjust.

Response to: Economic Sanctions Don't Work. Duh. Posted May 12th, 2004 in Politics

The american government knows very well what they are doing. Syria will just be the next Iraq.

Revenge? Great idea... just look at where Palestine and Israel are at this point.

Response to: A Soldier's Letter Posted May 11th, 2004 in Politics

That letter just seems to me like some little piece of propaganda some low-level Government PR clerk put together.

more fighting between the chechen rebles and the russian army would be my guess.

Unless Moscow manages to appoint another puppet leader there of course.

98.9 cents here in Montreal. I hear though that the government is investigating the validity of these drastic increases. Ten cents in a week is rather bloated. It just shows that we should improve and develop mass transit.

The problem is that the US army frontline troops, the grunts, aren't given enough training in the ethics of war. They aren't taught that a hostile is only hostile when he has a gun. If they're captured, they're just POWs and should be treated as humans. They were just doing their job.

I agree... but wouldn't you just feel horrible, witnessing that sort of thing every day? What if some of our guys, brothers and sisters, get captured in turn. Will there be some kind of revenge? I hate to think about that possibility.

Response to: the 4th world war Posted May 11th, 2004 in Politics

Purification by fire... very biblical. For anyone who enjoys these apocaliptic scenarios, read Stephen King's "The Stand". Its far superior to all that's being made in HollyWood these days.

Response to: Anti- American Sentiment Posted May 11th, 2004 in Politics

Anyone who hates ANY race, culture, religion or nationality has some serious questions to ask himself. Whether we like it or not, we carry some of the stereotypes and prejudices of our ancestors... its up to this generation to end it all. What we need to hate is hate itself.

Response to: Well...God Damn Posted May 11th, 2004 in Politics

I don't see this as much as a flaw in military command, as I do the downfall of goodness in general. Who deserves that sort of treatment? What kind of people would stoop so low as to humiliate, violate and degrade human beings, be they even their worst enemy. We should stop putting labels on this problem such as "US military and political gaffe" and question the fundamentals of society in general. Its a worldwide problem... cruelty, indifference.

Its easy to see where you're coming from, but racking up four hundred dollars worth of fines is rather careless. She must never have had the intention of paying them in the first place and probably envisionned breaking the law again in the future.

The so-called coalition is conquering " a la risk". Deployment phase (Afghanistan), atttack phase (Iraq), strategic movement (Iran).

I'd normally start by controlling Australia or south America..(easy points), but that's just me...

Response to: Kerry is a bad idea Posted May 9th, 2004 in Politics

I doubt any President would be foolish enough to have troops withdraw from Iraq at this point in time. Besides, the elections will take place after the supposed date for a transfer of "power". Kerry is ready and willing to deal with the consequences of this war... so I've heard him say.
