A still life of what was in my pockets. Inspired by thewesley's still life.
A piece of paper, two golf tees, and and eraser.

Response to: A rather odd piece of "art" Posted August 23rd, 2010 in Art

Hmm, I really like this one. I see a lot of symbolism in it. The colors don't mix well together, but I think this is to represent distress in someones life. Notice how the paint is spread from the top left and flows down, mimicking a real canvas. Although some some people here say that this obvious work of art is nothing more than digital scribble, I believe that the artist put in much time to perfect this marvelous piece.

I will. I just like to do all my sketches where I can draw everything.

Hmm, it would be better if it had more warm colors, but thats just my opinion. Oh, her shoulder blades should be shaded differently. The back isn't flat color.

Plague doctor stuff. I was browsing wikipedia, and one thing led to another, and found this article about the doctors of the plague. Turns out they spread the disease more than cured it, but they still have a cool mask.

No, nyet, nein, non. Do NOT trace. Never. All it does is make you rely on tracing. Use a reference and draw what you see. imo, tracing does nothing that referencing does. When you reference, you pay attention to where things are lighter and darker, when you trace, you pay attention to your line.

Response to: Joshsouza's Art Thread Posted August 20th, 2010 in Art

Its good that your using references, but to be honest, that looks nothing like the reference. On most parts of the painting it looks like you just got lazy. For instance, on the fence, it looks as though you just painted a white line across the page rather than actually painting each individual plank. The lighthouse looks like it was the main focus on the picture, but in your painting, it looks like you just went through it as fast as you can.
