The basic anatomy is kind of off. It looks like he's tilting his head out from his neck. Other than that, not trying to be rude, but it's generic anime.

Woah, I was just learning about this in art class. Basically, the left side of your brain likes to take steps and make shortcuts, and the like. The right side is more creative, and from what I've learned, is much more artistic.
When you use your left brain to draw, you usually draw symbols for things, like a circle within a circle for an eye, a triangle-ish shape for a nose, etc.
Drawing with the right side of your brain looks more at different contrasts as shapes and lines. It helps to practice doing this by drawing blind, or doing modified contour drawings. It makes complicated things like foreshortening pretty easy, but can be hard to do without a reference.
Overall, it's just not all that interesting or good. The grass is poorly done, it looks like your going for an inbetween of realism and a cartoony look. The actual sun itself is full of wavy lines, the face isn't done all that well...
For something as simple as this, it has to be executed well.
Clean lines, good colors, the image itself could be smaller, alot of it is just either green or orange, and is quite boring.

Video games used to be cool, until the whole online thing. In my opinion it ruined the entire industry. Everything now is just a rehash or sequel or "spiritual" sequel to something else, and the majority of games bought are just for their multiplayer. Hopefully the industry crashes soon.
That and I will always associate online gaming with an either a 12 year old or a 20 year old screaming homophobic insults and obscenities.

Is this too unclear? Is there a way I can make what she's doing more clear? Is using an idea of another artist for my own piece too unoriginal?
I think the only way it could be made more clear is if maybe you had some skeletons laying around and some of those ghosts you like to draw coming out of them. Maybe even just one in the foreground. And as for being unoriginal, I don't think it is. Nothing wrong with being inspired by a role model.
Ooh, nice. What magazine?
And good luck with the pieces being accepted!
"Sledgehammer's Call Of Duty game will be an 'adventure FPS' spin-off from the CoD series - and shouldn't affect the arrival of Infinity Ward's 'proper' next entry in the franchise in 2011."
Adventure FPS?
Next "proper" entry?
I have to say, I won't be excited for this next game unless there's some drastic change. It'll more than likely just be a rehash of the other games.
I'll still buy it.
Chell and Glados are in the game. I don't know why everyones freaking out.

Lacks detail and besides some blood and pale skin, doesn't resemble a zombie.
I see a muscular jesus and a pope with his mouth sewn shut (?)
either way nice stuff

Hey, I'm an average newgrounds user. I'm too lazy to follow links, and will probably point out the function of the include picture button.
Really neat stuff, nice work with watercolors too!

Any opinions as to which, if any, I should use?
I like one the most. Gives alot of attention to the star, which is good.

Okay, first of all, I wasn't making excuses, I was stating facts. To make an excuse is to lie, and I didn't lie about a thing. So please, if you have no other feedback to give, please do not come at me like that. The person that I based the character one, speaks in that manner, that's not how I speak, but a lot of the people where I am from do. And like I said before, some things have bad names, and turn out to be really good, and my example was Street Fighter. So where was the excuse?
"The dialogue was strangely stated"
well, that's how my friends talk
"The name is also the name of a video game, and is bad"
street fighter is a good game but has a bad name
You were making excuses then, and are making excuses now. As to actual improvement, you should seek out the writing forum.
Instead of making lame excuses for why things are wrong, like "that's how my friend talks", "We say that here, though", and comparing a name of a video game to a name of a movie or song. Lame excuses are lame. Rather than trying to defend yourself, just try to correct it.
I apologize, I haven't been working on mine all that much. I won't try to make excuses for it; frankly, I just haven't had the time. All Ive been doing was making slight adjustments in tone, and making a dress for her.
Thanks guys, it was set to bitmap whenever I made a blank document for some reason. I appreciate it from both of you
Speaking of software problems, whenever I try to make a new, blank document in photoshop, I cannot make new layers, or draw on any of them. help?

Hi Res.
These look either filtered, or just flat out traced. If you're using a reference, show us.
Is this supposed to be something like the noir detective thread, or a request thread? Im a bit confused.
I like chrome. It's fast, convient, and simple, and doesn't afraid of anything
its a pretty cool guy

Two games. Wind Waker, and Metroid Zero Mission.
I was seven or so when I first got these games, and what was so fun about them is how long it took me to complete them. Like a solid month or so. Good times.

No, I think the bars on the right would cast a bit of a shadow, but as for the mountain side, it looks like the light source is coming from the top right.
