Reason Pricing question here:

I'm looking to buy Reason right now, but (as most highschool students) am tight on cash. I have done some price checking, and it seems like on online retailers I can get it for about 200$. However, when I go onto ebay, I see new copys of Reason (sometimes including other samples, refills, and tutorials) for 70$ and below! Is this really just a good deal, or are they REselling (pun intended) products after they rip the cd key or somthing? Great software, and maybe a n00b question, but please help me out! Thanks :)

I would be willing to write an orchestral score out for you, but I think you need to at least provide us with a demo. I doubt anyone will put a lot of time and musical effort into a game that they don't think is going anywhere. Do you have any more detail about where you plan to release it (is this a flash game)?

I think FS6 is out now, you may be able to find some information about compatability.
I'm gonna get Reason and Garritan Personal Orchestra once I have the expendable cash :). Doesn't have any choirs in it though, so I doubt it would suit your purposes very well.

Just finished the preview to a new rave piece I'm working on, entitled Joyride . It resembles some of my really early electronica, although much more sophisticated. Check it out if you get the chance!

12 years of piano. 1 year of violin, and a lot of time learning theory, and classical history. I'm one of those losers who learns all sorts of different musical forms (whether or not I use 'em is a whole different story).

Great song Solus, liked the panning effects you had going on in the piece. Recently I have seen a lot of great pieces of music on the Audio Portal in general, I'm really impressed.

Yea, I played on an older Mellotron last year... they are really cool. All the tapes and stuff inside, they really are a piece of work there. The one I played on was really hard to push down keys though

Mine only took a day. Unfortunately the track wouldn't play at all for whatever reason (it happens sometimes), so I thought I wasn't approved. I think the average is 2 to 4 days, from what I hear around.

what amazes me most is noobs think they can blam us. What the Audio Portal needs is a mod who can judge fairly and select the base rating ; therefore making our pieces not look like crap. When you have enough votes, you can have a stable score. Its been 4 months, and my first piece will be staying around 3.70 =). It also should be that a zero and 1 can only be used by the base rater mod. =). This might prevent mad blammers, on berzerker trips. I really need support on my next two pieces, they're gona be good =). It should be 3.5+ on both =). Imagine, if our mods had a 24 hr a day look at the audio portal...And a list of blammers.

~Arenj

I don't even know if you would need mods for this. I think if you looked at the rating history of all the zero voters, you would see that the percentage of zeros that get give is much higher than those who don't vote zeros. If you were just able to stop people who had a higher percentage from voting a zero or one, it would really help the problem. I think then people would stop voting zeros even if they knew about the problem.

Or, if you really wanted to stop the problem, go in and have whoever rates the music be listed on a list corresponding to the song, with the rating they gave. Then they would be much less likely to vote a zero if people know that they did it. (that could just completely screw over the voting system though, because then everyone would be afraid to give much below a 3 or 4).

Nice one Solus, I dropped a review down just a moment ago :)

Another one of mine. I woite this while back on a plane ride down to Alabama (I live in New England). It has an arabic influence to it. It starts a bit soft, but gains volume as you get into it. Love it or hate it? Let your ears decide.

Yea Chronamut, don't take it too harshly that you wern't accepted. You have a great reputation on Newgrounds that's growing constantly, along with your skills. I have looked at your stuff that you made in the beginning and compared it your present stuff and the progress is outstanding. Keep working on music, try new things. And really, be sure you enjoy what you're doing above all else. I personally am following music for my carrer (possibly composition, or possibly performance), but I'm obviously not the best out there... not even close. But I can listen to my music, and hear improvment from every piece. I get great enjoyment out of that, whether or not it becomes the next big "hit". And, in the end, I think most people would rather enjoy what they are doing, even if they aren't the best... instead of being the best but not having a good time.

Yea, I get that error too sometimes, I find if I just use another program to change the bitrate it works fine, but yea... I hate lowering the quality of my music.

Although I am relatively new here, I hate working on a piece for hours and hours, think it's good, and then have it recieve a 0 for a rating. They never get reconized. I feel pretty bad for all the people that upload their songs and have them get a total of 4 or 5 downloads total. Atleast mine have had some recognition, but I still get that awful feeling when the music drops down in the abyss where no one will see it again. And then therea re people with double platinums on every song. Sure their music is very good, but sometimes I do they that they get a little too much spotlight sometimes.

So that's my rant. Don't do that too often, but it feels kindda good to say it.

My newest piece is part of a series that I am making based around RPG games and movie sountracks. It's a 1 minute loop, and I think it would work nicely in a scene where people embark on a journey (hence the name). Please check it out and leave a rating and review!
