Fuck it, it isn't worth my time when everything I say is followed up by a shitty excuse.

Newman the Shadow Giant
He is a giant of the shadows, he comes from the depths of where there are shadows, big enough for giants.

but yes it seems that the next generation of artist have forgotten the ol pencil and paper.
or It might be a lack of formal training or exposure to technology, but either way it is sad times we live in...

There probably I proverb or something for some people make excuses, some people act, or make results or something, I don't know.
But what I fucking hate, are excuses, I used to make excuses for everything, not doing homework, not drawing things, not doing anything. Instead of shit excuses, just say no, or I haven't tried or something. I'm an incredibly lazy guy, and if I don't do something, it's cause I'm lazy, I didn't have to go to the store, my tablet didn't break down, I just didn't.

I can understand those things I listed are fairly reasonable things for reasons not to draw, however when people blame quality on something totally, totally in their control, I call bullshit.

Response to: Bio-Mech Pokemon's series Posted March 17th, 2010 in Art

Has pencil and paper just been forsaken for out generation of artists?
Digital art is not not better than traditional, in any way, shape, or form. ESPECIALLY if you are using a mouse, and ESPECIALLY is you are using that mouse as an escuse for poor quality, know better if you dont have a tablet, use paper.

I think it came from "It's just aweso without me." "Aweso" is the word "awesome" without the "me" at the end, implying that you're an awesome person, and without you (the "me"), whatever you're talking about is "aweso."

True, but wrong

right
It was started out as an inside thing and has manged to branch out for one reason or another. I love how people make these threads in general expecting people to know when it's an art forum joke at the moment. Than again if it was made there it'd be locked with no explanation.

The second one is pretty obviously just an image photoshopped and poorly cropped.
The other 3 are pretty low quality, and the last one suicune I think, looks REALLY traced
Not my cup of tea so far.

I notice you've picked up your own little collab thing you're doing.
For the highlight circles I suggest you turn down the saturation and use a complimentary color to what you want focused on red= green or blue, yellow= purple or blue, etc) at the moment they are very distracting and detract attention away from the art.

I don't know if it was hidden for the sake of posting it, but like on your old kung fu mouse man, it doesn't look like you used a skeleton for him, I strongly suggest you use those to map out your proportions before you start sketching.

Just because I'm not posting doesn't mean I don't view your thread, there isn't much advice to give that hasn't been given already.

People put way to much stress on having their own style when style is such a loose term.
Simply drawing a circle can be your own style, as no one else draws circles the way you do, that's how YOU draw circles.

Just draw, limiting yourself to a style is just that, limiting yourself, the way you should form a style if at all is to find shortcuts to drawing, be it hands, feet, what have you, not because you decide that you want your stuff to be a certain way. Last year I went through so many styles, to many to count, because I thought that's what I was supposed to do, I learned a lot from that, but I also didn't like how my stuff looked. So instead of having a style all my own, I just drew, and I drew and I learned, and evolved my own style from my own little shortcuts.

But I also wanted to add this
It also helps to look at people art you enjoy looking at, what about what they make do you like and try to emulate. Borrowing tricks from what others do is a great way to learn how to do something.
