They are from reference.
Flowers art is mostly from reference.

So, are like, all those famous paintings in the lourve and shit, you know those ones drawn from life.
Copied if you will
bullshit?
I seriously cannot comprehend this argument for the life of me and occ just seems like he's grasping at any straw he can to keep his argument boat afloat with a cannon hole through the bottom.
Flowers' pic CONTINUES to not be an exact copy using the method you used to imply is was. There are subtle differences, mostly in shading and in form, whether they be accurate anatomically or not.

Working from a reference, no matter how closely it is by no means cheating, and to take what was at the time a fairly solid argument and turn it in, "Hey guys, look I made a painting from jqb, lol"

I just swear, simple as that. It's how I speak normally, how I'll think, and how I'll think while typing.
I mean no insults at anyone unless I actually use an insult.

That said, if there was some kind of handy message, some sort of tutorial that popped up for someone that was new to the art portal that gave them tips and shit.

Pretty sad right now that the skill of photorealism is being reduced to bullshit and copying.
What the fuck difference does it make whether he's using his own reference photo, or 1 he found on the internet.
Whether he changes up the poses is up to him, and whether he wins this contest or whatever else happens is up to the judges.

flowers is legit.
If you're going to call someone out in the rudest way possible, maybe check with other people first, flowers has ben here a while after all.

Acts like this happen with every new form of media.
It probably isn't going to pass without some serious reworking, and even then it's still probably won't.

But, with all the stupid people, it makes the smaller percentage of smart people feel smarter, we need this lack of balance, jeeshwa.
Lest they get low self esteem.

Response to: Photoshop vs sai vs others Posted October 19th, 2011 in Art

If you don't have much familiarity with art programs I'd go with sai is probably your best bet, only reason I don't use it is because I'm just so used to PS's layouts and whatnot.

Response to: Oil on canvas Posted October 19th, 2011 in Art

If you're just starting out painting I wouldn't recommend oils. Oils can be a bitch to work with.
I'd suggest acrylics and diluting them, cheap, and easier to fix mistakes etc.

Response to: Sirhenry Studios Art Thread Posted October 16th, 2011 in Art

you keep saying it's not done yet, you're working on shading, that it needs colors, but you say the lines are done but the lines have problems and you're just ignoring that.

rule of thumb: if it doesn't look right in black and white, it's not gonna look right in color.

Response to: Sirhenry Studios Art Thread Posted October 16th, 2011 in Art

You're going way overboard with the spot blacking. It's meant to show depth and form where there usually wouldn't, black and white, just inks, etc or just asthetics. The werewolf is almost just a blob with hands and a face.

The background not getting the same heavy blacks bugs me too, but that's more preference.

True, no one's face is as perfect as artists tend to use for examples, but knowing the structure of the face better, will help you get a more realistic product, or if not realism, knowing what to exaggerate.

How is not having photoshop stopping you from drawing? You're doing these in pen aren't you?

Response to: Jims castle of dark art and puppies Posted October 9th, 2011 in Art

Are you sketching and planning out your drawings before you go into the final steps or are you just going straight to pen with them?
