Probably posting on some blog, pretending to be first.
Have you considered reformatting your drives? If they keep changing with space I think you added unallocated space (which is needed for moving stuff around on your computer) to your C drive.
So I think you need to repartition it, which is not really possible seeing you don't have that much space to do so.
Anyway, prepare yourself to make some backups because you're going to have to start from scratch.

Even though most of them aren't really serious when spouting racist jokes, I think that if you spent a long enough time there, it can indoctrinate you into actually being racist IRL.
I know some people that frequent 4chan a lot, and they ended up becoming more racist over time. There is always a small amount of truth in any joke.

If you go into your account settings (the little gear next to the star on the top of the site), you'll come to a screen where on the left there's a box which gives you the option to turn auto play on or off. You can also change it for adult content and submissions that are under judgment.
I really like that you can turn off autoplay on videos now, because I usually open multiple submissions in new tabs and I'd end up with a chaos of 5 different videos playing at once. That was also the only reason I didn't like the mp4 portal, but that's been taken care of!
Nice one guys!

The middle ones were always my sweet spot back in the day. Now I just click everything.

"Hip" is measured by views and ratings, is it not? How come "I love dota 2" and "empire of sock" borders the popular "wrong number"?

I measure hip in the fanbase and what is more trending at the moment. Not in views or score as I mentioned in the original post to avoid shit like this, because "hip" is a pretty subjective term.
Also, Tom explained in great detail what his system is, so this thread is no longer relevant seeing that my question has been answered.
So I don't think I need to explain myself anymore.
I do however think it's still interesting to have a discussion about the frontpage movies though. Seeing the topic is pretty interesting for me.

Top Row: Try to highlight high quality original content that doesn't use pop culture as a crutch and is more likely to be overlooked by general web viewers.
Bottom Row: Parodies, Adult-ish and any content that will get clicked no matter where it appears in the grid. Madness fans will always click a Madness icon, for example, it doesn't need to be in the top row (although it does get top row other times). Guys like Mario end up here because people will click Mario regardless of where he appears.
Middle Row: A mix of everything in-between, original content and parodies, based on what is worth front paging in any given week.
I also sometimes shift thumbnails around for pure aesthetics, for example of two thumbnails next to each other create a cluster of a dominant color, I might put them further apart so they stand out better on their own. Not a perfect science.
Thanks for the elaboration!
But what is the story with the top left spot? It seems to be reserved for animations that deserve the most exposure or have the biggest fanbase of some sort.
Or is it just a coincidence that the most famous animators here just produce original, high quality content, and it just happens to always gets placed on the left hand site?
I'm thinking Oney, Harry Partridge, Sexual Lobster, etc
It also seems like that's only been happening recently. I remember back in the old days it was more random. Or maybe I wasn't paying that much attention.

I'm not talking about features being placed according to date. What the hell are you going on about. You taking the piss out of me?
I'm talking about the 12 spaces on the frontpage, and which spots are reserved for more "hip" submissions.
Let me elaborate even more by using this picture:
At 7/24/13 01:15 AM, satanbrain wrote: This is not as noticeable. Look at past features over months, the order is (was) arbitrary.
I'm talking about the placement dude.
Looking at that list tells you nothing where those cartoons were on the frontpage. Are you even reading the thread?
At 7/23/13 11:53 PM, satanbrain wrote: Arbitary order of placement.
Convince me.
I really want to believe this, but other people have pointed out pretty convincing facts that its most definitely not arbitrary.
You gotta admit, there is a pretty noticeable pattern.
At 7/23/13 11:01 PM, CiviLies wrote: Well I, myself, haven't noticed this. I checked the ratings and view counts, and the findings were somewhat consistent along the lines of:
The three three rows were organized by highest view count from left to right, and each row was consistent within themselves, and not relating to other rows. Except Bunny Foo Foo was one of the highest viewed and probably highest-scored (and I'm using review ratings for measurement) video on that page, and it was sitting next to Incident 111A, also one of the highest-viewed/rated videos on the page.
Aha! You make an interesting point. How each row is consistent in terms of popularity. Without being affected by the others.
And maybe the bottom row gets an exception to this seeing that its the only inconsistent one.
All I can say is that the FP is managed solely by Tom Fulp. Sorry if you already knew that. Also, I'm not sure if you knew this, but you misnumbered the vids in your pic.
Yeah. I'm completely aware that Tom Fulp is in charge of the frontpage.
Although I think sometimes people take frontpage over for a short period when Tom cannot access Newgrounds. I think I heard this rumor somewhere.
And yes, I accidentally skipped eleven.
So for a while now I've noticed a pattern on the frontpage movies.
I think the same counts for the games, but I have that stacked lower so I don't keep an eye on that
I think the movies that get placed top left are the ones that are regarded the "highest". My reason for this is because they stay the longest on frontpage. But also because of the popularity they have.
So if that were true, it's safe to assume that the ones on the bottom are still worthy of Frontpage but aren't as good as the other ones. Right?
I'll include a picture to help explain what I think the stacking of "best" to "worst" goes.
A second pattern is that frontpage cartoons get ranked with this system regardless of views or score. Something could have only 2 stars and still get frontpaged. I know everyone knows this but I'm just pointing out that the frontpage ranking system is completely detached from stats. Just to avoid misconception in this thread.
My first question is, am I seeing ghosts? Have other people noticed this before? Is this common knowledge and am I just pointing out the obvious?
And the second question is the reason I'm making this thread.
It's because I'm having doubts about some parts of my crazy conspiracy theory. I'm still fairly sure that the top row is considered the highest honor. But what about the other rows? And in what direction?
My doubt is because of the Madness cartoon.
Krinkels has a submission on the frontpage on the bottom right. Opposite of the "best" on the top left. That would mean that Krinkels is the lowest on the frontpage.
This is confusing to me, because I have always figured that Madness was well respected and always got put in the spotlight.
I mean, shit, it has its own day and a lot of swag in the store.
Maybe madness is dying out and its time for a new franchise to shine? Or maybe the cartoon wasn't that good? I haven't checked it out yet...
Anyway, I included a jaypeg of what I think is the order of "ranking" on frontpage.
Prove me wrong because I don't want this to be true, also I'm pretty sure I'm crazy.

But isn't all audio in the audio portal royalty free music, free to use in your animations?
A friend of mine was wondering about the rules of using flash ads while using music from the audio portal.
He was specifically referring to this submission:
My jazzy rendition of the Pokemon Theme Song.
He noticed that on the left it says:
"Noncommercial:
You may not use this work for commercial purposes unless you make specific arrangements with the artist"
I looked around and it turns out that all audio submissions say this.
But people having been taking audio from the audio portal without consent and monetizing it since the dawn of man, so my friend is just being a douche nozzle, right?

So, whether you're European or not, if there's any non-American (and by that I mean mostly superheroes) comic book franchise you wanna share with the rest, it'd be much appreciated.
G'bye gov'nor
Cowboy Henk is pretty solid. It's NSFW though. I don't know where you'd get a full book, don't think they have that in the states.
If you want to go more SFW, try Tintin (you probably know about this though).
There's actually so many I could recommend, but I don't know what type of comics you're in to or whatever. And not a lot of Belgian comics got translated in english.
Also I'm too lazy to look and name them all.
Well it has kind of evolved into that seeing you can "chit chat about whatever" here. It used to be the main hub for complaints about the site, but then people started complaining about the complaints so I guess that weeded itself out.
I think most people talking about newgrounds and its features (games on frontpage, daily awards, cool movies, the state of the site)on their news posts, well, the people with frontpage posts do anyway.
Once every year I do occasionally come in here and make a thread about NG, but 99% of it seems to be all about whats hot on the web.
did I make any sense there? Its kinda late and Im tired

No one is offended. If people end up in suicide because of a one liner you pulled on them, that's on their part and you are in no way to blame for that. So don't think you're affecting anyone their life by posting on some silly forum.
And why the fuck are you making amends anyway? Who are you making amends to? I'd get if you'd harm someone personally, but then you'd rather talk to them in private about it.
You're apologizing to a bunch of people who don't even know what you're talking about.
So instead of doing taking this easy way out by apologizing, just be the person you want to be from now on? There's nothing to gain or lose from making a thread about how bad of a person you are or were. This whole thread is pointless.
There's some pretty popular submissions here that are spanish with subs. So don't be afraid to do just that.
But from a personal perspective, I enjoy and stay intrigued to things that have english audio though, even if my native tongue isn't english.
Just saying.
