Response to: Why isn't Newgrounds verified...? Posted March 1st, 2014 in General

I didn't know Twitter needed verification now as well?

And about the Youtube thing. I don't think they keep their channel up to date seeing they're competition of each other. Maybe they just don't care. Maybe they're too busy. Maybe don't have a PR for social media.

Response to: Victory for Democracy in Ukraine? Posted March 1st, 2014 in Politics

Is there actually anyone from the Ukraine in this thread? (if there even able to go online at this time...)

I'd love to hear an insiders voice on the matter. We can debate all we can on the matter, but we won't know any objective opinions until what is going on outside of press news.

But these are just my two cents..

Illustrator (despite it's name) is much better tuned as a designing and logo software, it's much more mechanical in how it works and what it can do.

I feel I can make way cooler logos in flash just because I'm more in tune with the program. Heh.

I know, but i am talking about the moment when you simply draw a stroke, illustrator curves it so much more than flash does in my experience, making it harder to get the lines that I wanted to achieve in a specific design.

Oh yah the math in Illustrator is more precise I've heard. So I guess it comes down to which program is more precise.

no real reason to pick between one or the other when they all have certain strengths.

Yeah but that's where I'm struggling. I'd love to use both. But it's just that everything that can be done in illustrator, I can pull off in Flash faster AND having more fun.
I see no reason to use illustrator for "it's strengths" because it doesn't seem to have any. The only reason I use Illustrator is for print and if I'm forced to use it for employers.

At 2/27/14 07:03 AM, creepyboy wrote: I feel more comfortable using Flash because I have more control of the trace and I use some "tricks" to improve my linework that I simple couldn't use on Illustrator.

Could you elaborate on one of those tricks? ;)
I'd love to learn a new thing or two! A whole new world opened up to me when I saw JohnnyUtah use Flash like it was Illustrator. So I wonder if there's things I still don't know.

I think that's one of the worst things people can tell us. I've had one employer that didn't even know you could get the Adobe packet on a PC.
When I told that person I had the programs at home on my PC she looked at me with a horrified look. I think she spent a lot of money on that Mac and those programs not knowing you could get it for cheaper.

Heh.

Shows get turned into a parody all the time on youtube and newgrounds. What do you think?

Vector art: Flash vs Illustrator Posted February 25th, 2014 in Art

The title says it all! What do YOU use?

My personal preference goes to Flash. I am well aware of how powerful illustrator is, but for some reason I am so used to Flash, I feel more free when drawing in it.
It also feels way better for freehand drawing. Most people use Photoshop for freehand drawing, but I enjoy working with vectors.

I'm not that experienced in Illustrator. I've had to use it in the past at some jobs and it seems really amazing, I just feel a bit limited to my knowledge of the program.
It also seems more of a program used for design and technical drawings than for free drawing.

My final argument lies with shading. Coloring and shading in flash feels more like Photoshop. If you'd use multiple shadings in illustrator, it feels like you have to "plan" it.

I don't know how big the vector scene is in this forum because I don't really come here a lot, just wanted to see what people think about this. They're pretty similar programs, each having their own special "abilities" and I feel weird for going out of the norm.

One of my favorite series for this is Nichijou, where it seems the animators had quite a bit of free reign. I'm not really into anime but the series kind of stuck with me after seeing scenes like this in particular.

Despite the amount of time it takes to make a scene like that compared to a typical scene, I like them far more. Thoughts?

Those two clips were one of the funniest anime scenes I've seen, in a while. I might have to start watching this show.

Drawing only requires pen and paper. You don't even need to buy that shit, you can just go to a bar ask for a water and a pen. You can draw on the coasters.

I do it all the time, except I don't ask for water. That shit is gross.

So there's finally ads for the MP4 portal? NEAT!

Seeing everyone is going mobile that seems like a bit of a must. I miss the cool preloader menus though. People got really creative with those.
Oh well.

I haven't checked out the submission page for the video ads, but I'll get into it when I get some free time to animate!

If I would hypothetically get a supporter thingy. Can I turn the ads back on? Or is it completely ad-less?

Also, have you considered the fact that you own Newgrounds (an "18+" website) which could have an influence on your ads?

I'm an amateur animator that doesn't charge anything and is just looking for some expierence.
You can look at my NG profile which will tell you that I'm very good at drawing boobs and dicks. Also I'm really slow and will never hit my deadline, but I'm a fun guy to skype with so that will totally compensate for my shitty work ethics.
