pegbar!!!
already punched paper (recommended) or a means of punching.
A scanner can do the same job

The program gimp is freeware

The lightbox in that movie was made with a shoe box.

I'm pretty sure that was already covered in that tutorial

a scanner will do the same job, just 100 times slower and not inline with the other scans.

i didnt say that linetesting programs cost anything did i?

making a lightbox out of cardboard and floppy plastic is useless, a sheet of firm perspex and some sorta cheap wood would be much better.

finally, this tutorial is really unprofessional, follow it if you like but no one has ever made good animation fast with a scanner let alone all the other shit.

i havnt worked with cs4 much but you do normally need 2 keyframes. i cant rember it being any different with cs4. 2 keys for the start position and end the tween goes on the first keyframe (which is usally stretched but adding frames to the key)

Response to: stupid stuff you make when bored Posted August 1st, 2010 in Animation

i love em, ive got a few i did when being bored, can i link them or do i have to upload them to here (forum rules on linking)? or is it ok to link other sites?

Response to: Tutorial Frustration Posted August 1st, 2010 in Animation

its only dumb if you dont ask.

i always use two keyframes that are the same with only one symbol in it, then in the second keyframe i move the symbol across the screen to where you want it to go. then right click on the distance between the two keyframes and it should be there.

tweening dosn't work if its not the same symbol, if its an edited symbol or if there are more than one symbol on the layer your trying to tween.

hope that helps.

I thought it was rather neat and more people should see it.

Response to: Running Test Posted July 31st, 2010 in Animation

no the arm and leg movement is right it was just a little hard to read in a stick form without perspective, soz about that. still, the positioning is good, i think his right arm needs some work and some movement in the body/head area would look nice, just add a little bounce to the head from the body. apart from all that i think you need to loosen up with your drawing style, it seems like your trying to hard in your form. not so much in this animation as the rest. btw i have no idea if any of that makes sense.

Response to: Running Test Posted July 30th, 2010 in Animation

peoples arms don't move in the same direction as there legs when they run. also i would add more movement to the body overall, look at how people run, walk and altogether move.

very good advise there, storyboards also help to break down the animation into small animated sequences, and also help you from getting lost.

Response to: What do I need for animating? Posted June 28th, 2010 in Animation

all you need is flash, that is if your talking about digital animation. i dont think you should make those madness animations, we already have alot of them. why not make something new?

Response to: Want To Animate This Dark Comedy? Posted May 28th, 2010 in Animation

im really interested in this, you say you are all up for voice acting but how manny people do you think it will take for this? the way i normal work is audio first then story-reel/board with audio, see if it looks good with everyone ect then animate. also is there a deadline for this cus i got a bit of other work then im pretty much free for summer.

Response to: The NewGrounds Car! Posted April 21st, 2010 in Art

looks fantastic, im looking forward to the newgrounds tank over summer. i would also put up updates but ive been so busy i havnt had time to update anything on the forza paintjob, ill have more time in a few weeks but i will still be working over summer. again an awesome job on the NG car model snowman.

Response to: WTH, I can't watch anything! Posted April 20th, 2010 in Where is / How to?

things go wrong with websites, the newgrounds staff will sort it out shortly. just remember; its a privilege to be on this site, not a right.

Response to: The NewGrounds Car! Posted March 29th, 2010 in Art

its from the best driving game in the world, Forza Motorsport 3. the paint job editor is amazing for customization on a console. i could show you some other paintjobs ive created on forza 2 if you interested. oh and i havnt ever seen a holden lol they are pretty rare.

Response to: The NewGrounds Car! Posted March 29th, 2010 in Art

another update, i moved things around with the design. no background on the hood/roof tank still unfinished but added bespoke text and remade background spectrum and added cityscape. it does also say newgrounds on the spoiler, but the camera isn't high enough to see it.

And yes, ill take one more contender to this race, but only one. and you have made it in.
Your car is looking cool, I want to say it looks like an Evo Lancer with a bodykit but im not 100% sure

thanx, and no its not an evo, not even asian. its actuly a holden commodore VE

ive uploaded a bit of a better quality pic, the internet/lan wont work on it untill next week. so its with a phone cam of a 50" screen. as you can see the tank isnt finished but i was thinking of redoing allot of things.

it appears for me, and i like it. i like it alot, the box has some real weight when walking and the pacing is quite nice. im used to seeing walk cycles with character where as this is a box. in an interesting way however i think you should try different walk cycles trying out different emotions and see how they turn out. not having a face and only a body and legs to convey an emotion is a really good way to try out what you can do.

you know that isn't quite true

if you go Here(johnnyutah) and download that file that has the camera thing and all the script done and you can just have it for free

i dont think it counts when you make your own z plane. its not a feature of flash to have a z plane of moveable camera. like peter said its best not to restrict yourself to one program, this seems to happen a lot in the flash online community.

toon boom is the best alt for flash. not only is it the most popular but its made for animation. lipsyncing and keeping character colour pallets is much easier, also you can move the camera independently instead of having a fixed stage area like flash, it also has a Z plane for perspective when panning ect. (but i still use flash) Adam Philips uses toon boom more than flash these days, look him up, you will see what t can do in the right hands.

i think they mean the black parts just aint dark enough, it just all looks grey.

Response to: i need critism Posted November 12th, 2009 in Art

you should vectorize it so you can mess around with it, try some stuff that Spaghetti14 says. changing line thickness can give a foreshortening effect, adding depth and perspective. it will really make it look alot more interesting and not so generic.

And if I need to draw it not from hand, but in a program, what kind of pragram shoud I use.

if you also want to animate it, toonboom ands down, give it a look. its pretty good for importing drawn chars and vectorising them.
