You too should go stare at some paintings till your eyes are better. Your old work seems to lack the proportional accuracy of your new work. Also, your new work seems to be a lot more simple, and elegant. Your old work seems to be weighed down by the detail, like you didn't really need it there but put it there to be more accurate. Too much detail can be a burden. Now you aren't really letting things link proportions and illustrating hair to a detailed extent limit your artistic imagery. I really like how in your new work you've bent the form of the for arm and the shoulder to your liking. It really separates your new work from your old.
