Having not had bothered to go through all that was stated above...I will just make my statement on this issue known.
Don't make them legal.
Its that simple
But why?...as I like to try staying neutral in my arguments whilst only swaying one way or another a little...read below...
Before guns there was the bow, before the bow there was the sling, before the sling we had to fling random crap at anything that was coming towards us...the point? Simple, originally the use to projectiles was used as way to hunt, that continued until one guy and another guy angry and they started throwing rocks at each other, one of those rocks hit someone else and they joined in...do you see where I am going here? We, as human beings, have always been prone to acts of excessive violence for little reason, and that will never change, indeed even to this day we still act like children in a society of grown men and women.
In relation to the statement above, I think that guns should be outlawed to a point where only trusted individuals can have them, and perhaps people who live in excessively dangerous neighborhoods. Even then I don't think it would be a good idea. I mean, if you were in danger and you took out your gun and you fired off a shot or two, you would probably scare off the assailtant. He/she would then come back and shoot you...simple, then they would take your gun. If we allowed the use of guns as property upon ones self we can be sure that the overall crime rate would increase, and justifiably so...
...and yes I know that you will say that outlawing guns will not stop people from having/using them...but outlawing something does keep many people from even trying to get their hands on the illegal subject. Why make guns legal in the hopes that we will make a safer community, when in fact we will make it dangerous to even walk outside and get the morning newspaper.
