Tini is very cute - big puppy eyes! ^_^

Though if this was all the topic was gonna be, you might've just kept it to a news post on your profile, or you could post it in one of the photography topics going. Probably likely to get more thoughtful viewers.

Doh, the topic is actually called "Facial practice".

Oh, and also, here is a good tutorial on learning to draw faces, and people.

Hey, thank you ^_^ I appreciate that. The metallic figures topic never really got off the ground, but I could always post some new work to it and pull the topic from death.. always wondered what it would be like to be a necromancer.

It's a shame about your Marilyn picture, I'd like to see the new one if you get 'round to recreating it.

I think it looks pretty good as it is, it is a very nice image to start with, did you take the original photo for it? It's very professional. Anyways, I might darken the blood slightly, and maybe add just a tad more splash marks/detail to the bloodied areas. Other than that, it really is awesome!

Darker blood + slightly altered splash areas (see below).

Anyway, me and a bunch of other artist including DrClay, Jin, imacow, sunglasses, put a great deal of effort into it. Then MeMB told everyone to stop handing in parts and said he was going to put everything together. Then he basically vanished for ages and I sent him a few PM's some of which I told him if he didn't reply I would take over the collab, he didn't reply to them.

My proposal is to take over the collab as the new collab leader, put everything together myself and then submit it with everyone co-athored who was in it. Do you guys think this is a fair decision?

This is a very good drawing. It feels like you've put in a lot of effort to get the form/lines looking good. Possibly bring the jaw line in very, very slightly as Zhang Ziyi has a pretty, pointy chin. (see below)

The shading looks a little stringy. That may be entirely what you are looking for to demonstrate the flow of texture, but I would go over it lightly until it has less contrast in each mass section.

Are you going to paint this? I would like to see it if you do.

A huge and scrawling signature can overpower and damage the presentation of a picture, appearing egotistical and amateurish, which doesn't match such a beautiful drawing. An artist's signature is a way to determine who created the piece, and this is important for getting your name out there. It is also a stamp of sorts. Often artists will make their signature kind of like a miniature drawing in itself - very simple, clear but also relatively small. Ultimately, your goal is to create an identifying mark that can be recognised by the viewer.

Post more of your drawings! ^_^

I might go back and work on the feet if I were you - though they could get by without it, it's just that the farther one looks a little unfinished and the closer foot looks like it should be bent at the toes to accommodate the stance. As it stands, this is a good drawing. My advice is to vectorize and take good care in coloring it in order to make it an outstanding picture, I reckon clean lines would really make this pop.

Do you have any ideas for a background yet?

Also, saying "0mg i have mouse lololol" Isn't an excuse to suck, if you haven't noticed, ketchup isn't exactly the best art tool in the whole world. It's the person, not the medium.

Holy crap. That ketchup vid' was awesome! Thanks x-factor11, for sharing a link to that. And yeah, I agree. A bad workman blames his tools.

Eatsalottagrass, if you honestly felt that your picture isn't as bad as the criticism you are receiving would indicate, perhaps it has a lot to do with how you introduce it to people. If you start off with, "Its sucks I know"... Of course people are going to slate it. If you try and introduce it as a starter and ask people what they think and how you could improve or whatever, that might go down a lot better.

Starting and learning to draw is never as easy as picking up a pencil/pen/stylus and automatically knowing what to do. It takes practice. Almost every single topic started by someone who has just started drawing leads to the same conclusion in critique. PRACTICE. You've already started creating things off your own back; you obviously have the determination and interest - so practice. Eventually you can come back and show off some art that will stop us whiney critics in our tracks.
