Well, last season's breakdown went like this:Sounds like you did pretty well, overall. Good luck this year! Out of curiosity, is there any video of you playing on YouTube, or something? I'd be curious to see it.
Sunday - lost every match, except a friendly. I was captain.
Wednesday - finished mid-table, runner up in the senior cup, winners of the invitation plate.
Saturday - Won the league (1st XI); Runner up in the league (2nd XI).
I was scorer for the most part on the Saturday team. I did play two games and took a couple of wickets.
There are a couple of videos of us celebrating after winning. From 2011 2012 and hopefully one for next season ;)

I can't tell you how excited I was about that before he passed away :(
I'd heard on the morning after, as it was overnight when it happened, but when I heard on the morning, I was stunned. Went over to see Bex in the evening after work and it was on the way home, that the song came on (my iPod has a sense of timing / humour), so I let my emotion out.
But yeah that song. It never used to be my favourite, Beat Up had the number 1 in my heart but then one day I just listened to it properly and god its just so beautiful. I love every single aspect of that song. Not just my ultimate favourite MJ song but one of my very favourite songs that I will listen to every single time it comes on. I got it played once on the radio, that was a good day.
One of the good things about the radio stations that we listen to at work, they occasionally put Man in the Mirror on. A shame for my colleagues, because they get no work out of me for 6-7 minutes, as I sing :P
Again, I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. He never had a traditional childhood, so when he tried to cut loose and do the things that we don't think are a problem for our own children to do with their peers, people were going to raise eyebrows.Yeah and with the constant media attention on him every hour of the day, he had no freedom to venture out and grow any differently. He was trapped by them and by his past. It was very tragic really and I don't have time for people who think differently.
It seems like no-one in authority realised this and the media just looked down their noses at him for it. Bastards.
I only have one Elvis song on my iPod, Freddie Mercury was awesome and John Lennon was only the second most talented musician in The Beatles, behind George Harrison. You heard it here first.I didn't hear it here first Mr Coop! I always proclaim George Harrison as my favourite Beatles actually. Writing the song 'Something' has a lot to do with that.
Something is good, but I have a soft spot for While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Old Brown Shoe.
Oh and as for my favourite song? Jeeze, where can I possibly begin? Ben was probably the earliest song of his that I liked, though perhaps Rockin' Robin was up there as well. Blame it on the Boogie from the Jacksons was pretty great as well.If we're picking favourite Jacksons songs while we're here (cannot resist), then there is only one for me - Lookin' Through The Window. I mean just listen to him. Its actually ridiculous how fantastic his voice was aged 13. It makes no logical sense really.
Why not? You use your voice most days of your life and with 13 years of practice, you should be able to sing well, especially with the training that he received.
He said it best - if you wanna make the world a batter place, take a look at yourself and make a change.I thoroughly enjoyed going through this post and smiling remember certain songs that don't straight away come to my mind when I think of Michael Jackson :) I think I have some intensive listening to do later.
Well, if you want to talk more Michael, you know where to find me - he's an inspiration to me.

I'd say the 1970s as well - I'd have been growing up as Iron Maiden and Metallica were rising to prominence and I'd have probably been a very different person, because of it.

Indeed.
MJ was amazing back in the day and the only thing he was guilty of was having a pretty fucked up childhood which warped him into the confused adult we sadly remember him as now.
Again, I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. He never had a traditional childhood, so when he tried to cut loose and do the things that we don't think are a problem for our own children to do with their peers, people were going to raise eyebrows.
Awesome awesome musician though and a giant loss, just as Elvis was, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury :(

Then you move onto the later stuff, the tunes that were around when I was born and into my childhood. Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It - all iconic, all part of the seven singles from the greatest album of all time.
Bad produced Dirty Diana and Smooth Criminal, but the best tune and possibly his magnum opus was Man In The Mirror, as it always makes me stop and think for a while, even as I belt it out on the karaoke stage.
Dangerous gave us Black and White and Heal the World - another tune in a similar vein to Man in the Mirror, but something that appeals more to my dad than I. The best track on that album for me has to be Jam, mainly because I mastered the rap on that, before the tape got chewed up by our stereo - fortunately I have a better copy now.
HIStory gave us Scream and Stranger in Moscow, plus another number 1 in You Are Not Alone - I wasn't such a fan of the dress. Childhood had me asking a few questions about Michael's apparent lack of one that I alluded to earlier in this post, but there was still more to come.
Blood On The Dance Floor gave us a decent title track, but little else to show for it. Morphine starts the documentation of his struggles, which few of us saw until it was sadly too late for him.
Invincible went on to prove that he really was not, but not before You Rock My World and Hearbreaker, both tunes, which flick a switch in my psyche, allowing me to get out there and express myself. After all of that, I still don't own a copy of Michael, but I will at some stage. It's been nearly four years since he left us, yet I remain grateful to him in structuring my musical development, as I have always had a place close to me for the great vocalists, such as Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, MeatLoaf and Bruce Dickinson, to name but a few from my personal collection.
He said it best - if you wanna make the world a batter place, take a look at yourself and make a change.

Title: Emperor - The Gods Of War
Author: Conn Iggulden
Genre: Historical Fiction
ISBN: 978-0-00-743715-3
Publication Date: 2006
Beware the Ides of March, Caesar.
Following the Dictator of Rome, Gnaeous Pompey across Greece, Julius Caesar uses his superior tactics and soldiers to defeat all enemies before him. Pompey runs and eventually leads the chase to the shores of Alexandria, seat of a once great empire, aware, but unfeeling about the dealings of Rome. When they present the head of the dictator to Julius on the docks, he weeps for his once friend.
Politics being what it was at the time (and some would say still is), alliances are formed and disolved almost instantly, with Caesar striking a legendary blow, adding Alexandria and the Nile territories to his growing empire.
Yes, we all know how the story ends and that by the end of the book, Caesar will be dead. However, as the story of Julius Caesar is winding to a close here and I feel that while this is told a lot better than Shakespeare could ever have told it, with the leisure of the sheer amount of detail that Iggulden can lavish upon us, combined with a good deal of poetic licence, it really paints a dramatic picture, that really does teach us some fantastic facts about life in Ancient Rome. As always, the real trick is making sure that you can tell the historical facts from the fiction. Of course, now that I've reached the end of the tale, I can look at Wiki and achieve a greater grasp on accepted fact, as opposed to what the author wants us to hear.
To be utterly fair though, Iggulden is not someone who writes to alter history - he is interested in the facts, yet his tweaks may well be put in place to cover slight continuity errors, the obvious exception being the age of Marcus Brutus, whom was the same age as Caesar in the tale, as opposed to 15 years his junior in reality.
It was the reading of the historical note at the end that brought a smile to my face:
"In years to come, I may have to write the story of the aftermath of the assassination. Not a single man, who stood with bloody hands in Pompey's theatre died a natural death. In a way, it is a tale as great as any other, but it will have to wait for another day." Here I am, seven years after publication of this book and I look at Waterstones, where we see an advert for book 5 being just 67 days from publication. That's uncanny.
I may not have shed a tear at the death of Ceasar, as I did for Ghengis Khan, but then I did not feel such a connection for the cold man, as I had for the actions of the Mongol khan, whose actions seemed less selfish than those of Caesar. Both names are synonymous with great leaders these days and I feel that it is testament to both that their tales can be remembered so readily these days.

From the looks of things a character is going to have to die off. You could bring in the possibility of bringing them back to life somehow. As for emotional problems with your ex-girlfriend, if she knows that you're a fair player then there is no victimizing. Remember, when you get down to it, it's just a game.
I think that while the other players realise this, to a greater or lesser extent, my ex just doesn't realise or care. As it is, I will spend my time making a plot that gets her to do what I want, while allowing her a degree of free will.
The plot will get there, I just need to work out some way of integrating her character into it as a way forward.

Right, the issue here is twofold - I don't want to kill a player character. Nor do I wish to have a player "trade in" a character for a better one, because they messed up. I expect them to role play out of this mess, as it's what we have to do when we fuck up - you can't press the reset button on life.
Secondly, this character is that of my ex-girlfriend. I don't want to be seen as victimising her.
We don't know much of the setting and truth be told I'm gonna need to know more about your setting to be able to help you. What has the adventure been so far, in a small synopsis if you please.
Alright, the dragon blooded (terrestrial) exalts are a group of once human beings, imbibed with a magical "essence", which enables them to perform superhuman feats (see films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; House of Flying Daggers and Kung-Fu Hustle for reference. At some stage during their late childhood, or early adulthood, they exalt, taking their gifts of the elemental dragon (earth, air, fire, water or wood). Their society is ruled from the seat of power on the Blessed Isle (earth pole), where the Scarlet Empress once ruled from. The trouble is, the Scarlet Empress has disappeared, leaving a power vacuum, which her children struggle to fill.
The five players have been dispatched to fight on the eastern frontier of creation, where the world ends in a swirling mass of chaos, known as the wyld. These entropic forces strive to destroy creation and rend all life from its fleeting existence. The forces of the Fourth Legion man the Wyld Hunt, where they strike down creatures of Wyld taint and with them, "Anathema", the remnants of powerful exalted culture before the Dynasty took control. Solars and Lunars mostly comprise these Anathema and indoctrination from an early age has taught the dragons to kill these powerful agents without thought.
On their journey, they (unwittingly) killed their commanding officer, allowing him to burn to death in a house that they had set alight in order to subdue the villagers who had captured him. One of their number was arrested and when he breaks out of jail, with a relatively young man, they are happy to see one another. Unbeknown to them at this point, they are harbouring a shape-shifting Lunar exalt. Quite capable of dispatching two of these dragons before the rest overwhelm him, they remain unaware of his presence.
Aura (Air dragon) threatens Tarvant (Lunar) at one stage and his act is that good, that she believes she could willingly have spilled his life blood unless he gives some answers. Tarvant confides in Aura that he is Anathema, but he is unwilling to kill her there and then. He does not say why.
Tesuli (Water aspect) hears this and reports to the commanding officer of a Fourth Legion patrol. The Wyld Hunt returns and Tesuli reveals her ploy, garnering a promotion in the process. All hell breaks loose and many men are slain by the traitors, in their bid for freedom. They escape and Aura chases Tesuli for a long while, Tarvant loping after her.
Tarvant calms the situation, claiming that a premonition that he has had requires five fingers of the hand, adorned with silver and gold. These portents would indicate that each element, coupled with a Lunar and Solar exalt would be able to save creation.
The group at large now deeply mistrusts Tesuli and Nenret (Wood aspect archer) has a crisis of faith, relinquishing his title "The Unrelenting". Tarvant introduces the group to a few friends of his and their suspicions are confirmed, when Selavar eventually is forced by a hostile situation with bandits, to click her fingers and bring forth an eight foot blade of burnished gold, seemingly from nowhere. Her demonstration of power is quick, merciless and brutal.
Finally, the seven make their way to a massive mountain, where Nenret's compass indicates a powerful source of essence is located. Like the crossing of ley lines, there is an intersection here, where a hearthstone grows. A powerful artifact gemstone, which enhances an essence users abilities somehow. Granite (Earth caste, in case you had not guessed) claims the manse as his own and the series ended in a volcanic cataclysm, caused by a massive fight with a hostile essence user.
Now the team must decide where to go. The Fourth Legion mission is out of the question, as they are traitors, as sanctioned by the Scarlet Dynasty.
That's about the scale of things. Any questions?

Much maligned, the town of Kidderminster is an historic industrial town, famous for the carpets we produce and for one Rowland Hill, the inventor of the penny post, which most people use today for sending and receiving goods bought on the internet.
His statue is on the left of shot, with the town hall in the background, adjacent to the recently redeveloped Weaver's Wharf shopping area.

Oh, that and getting my hands on the golden chainsaw. Groovy.
As some of you may be aware, I'm a Dungeon Master - I run Dungeons & Dragons, Werewolf, Exalted, various other games, where you create situations for your characters and they give you their interpretation of what they would like to do and you build a story around them.
I've got my work cut out for me now - five characters, each of which is "dragon blooded", representing one of the five elemental dragons (earth, air, fire, water & wood). The thing is, I allowed one of the characters to screw my game over royally and now I'm working on bringing her back into line. She is the water caste and basically she sold the others down the river, turning them in as traitors.
A bit of faff later and they are all back together and they somehow avoided killing one another. What I'm trying to do is find the compromise that will allow the game to continue, while giving me some inspiration of where to take it.
And so, I've come to a dream sequence - drawn out and underlining the points that made her decisions poor in the face of her comrades. As a terrestrial level exalt, her powers are not as great as the celestial, whom I am using to manipulate her.
Basically, the dream sequence will show portents of what may be to come for her and her comrades, including her untimely death in a gladiatorial arena. The only way for her to avoid this is to accept that her decision was wrong and that everything that she has learned about the "anathema" (celestial exalts, two of which have infiltrated the group and are working alongside them, not having killed them, despite the obvious chances to do so.)
Obviously you lot don't know much of the setting, I believe, but if you could give me any more suggestions, I would be grateful.
Title : Emperor : The Field of Swords
Author : Conn Iggulden
Genre : Historical
Publication Date : 2005
ISBN : 978-0-00-743714-6
The slave rebellion of Spartacus lies crushed and sent to Spain in the position of Governor for five years, Julius Caesar is allowed to brood over the death of his first wife and that hsi dreams have been dashed. The return of his mistress, Servillia gives him renewed drive and he dedicates himself to the new course, expanding his holdings in Spain and garnering riches with which to make a stand politically in the city of his birth.
The politics of Rome have always been partisan and the early return of the Governor of Spain causes consternation among the senate. Gambles are made and money is spent freely, with Caesar eventually emerging as a consul of Rome, taking over from the two incumbents, as rewarded by the Spartacus Rebellion - Generals Crassus and Pompey.
Garnering more favour with the populous, Caesar holds a sword tourney, eventually won by Brutus, though the strain on their relationship is beginning to show through. We all know how the story ends, but it is still fascinating to watch the drama unfold, piece by piece.
Having sated the Roman population's desire for order, bureaucracy and blood sports, Caesar enters into the first Triumvirate, granting Pompey Caesar's political "power of attorney" and Crassus a chance to make even more money, as a monopolising merchant prince, commanding a massive fleet, to strangle the market. Meanwhile Caesar assembles the Tenth legion - his own personal men - and marches them north from Rome.
Setting his sights on lands that are but myth to his people, he dreams of becoming a match for the legend of Alexander of Macedonia. They cross into Gaul and do battle with various tribes from there, subduing as they move, with as many as a million Gauls are sold into slavery, as well as another million killed. Not stopping at Gaul, Caesar commences his trips to Britain, taking the fight to the blue skinned warrior celts who live on an island north of Gaul.
The cold winters and a rebellion from the Gaulish king, Vercingetorix call Caesar back to mainland Europe, where he crushes the resistance under iron-shod sandals once more. In the wake of the capture of Vercingetorix, Caesar crosses the Alps with four legions. As he is still in mourning for the death of his healer / soothsayer, Cabera and his mentor, Renius, the news of the death of the Merchant Prince, Crassus hits him hard. With that, comes a letter from Pompey, ordering his return to Rome, alone and unarmed.
A few weeks later, on the banks of the Rubicon river, four legions stand with their generals, at a crossroads - do they march on Rome and become traitors, or do they allow their leader to walk off alone, to certain death at the hands of Gnaeous Pompeius Magnus?
Will he beware the Ides of March? Will Brutus be his undoing? Will Pompey put up a resistance in Rome?
It remains to be seen, though we can all see it coming.
I love this series. Yes, it has inspired me to play as the Romans in Civilisation V, but it's more than that. I feel inspired to read more into the history of Caesar and Rome, particularly with how the Republic seems to have survived on luck, more than any other reason, through its storied history. With men of ambition like Julius Caesar and those such as Crassus and Pompey pulling at her strings, a few false moves could have a very different version of events taking us forward.
