I think if they're both underage, then there's no problem. It's only statutory rape if one is over and one is under. (?)

Or maybe you're just bitching. Parties will of course nominate some of their own for positions. That's how politics works and the Democrats do just the same.
the democrats dont want the judges in because they are nigh-incompetant.
Anything to support that?
This is great. Go, Orrin Hatch, Go!
It's all a mixture of public sympathy and political correctness. I think the reason Lynch has been hyped up is that as well as being attractive and female, she is the "right sort" of hero. She's a "victim" hero, essentially, someone we can all feel sorry for and symapthize with. Miller is more of the "kicked some ass" hero. While he may have saved his comrades with an act of bravery, his story is not as marketable to the public. He doesn't talk about "how tough it was" and the terrible pain and hardship of some long ordeal. From the brief interview he gave on CBS' 60 Minutes, he is blunt, plain-spoken and a "country boy" of sorts. during his time as a POW he was defiant towards his captors rather than complacent and victimized. He is said to have annoyed the Iraqi guards by constantly singing "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" and arguing and yelling when his wedding ring was confiscated.

She "remembers" more now, apparently. Only she really knows. The facts of the matter are, though, that she crashed her Humvee and lay unconscious while others were fighting for their lives (and hers). The "blond American soldier who fought to the death" was actually Sgt. Donald Walters who was stabbed and shot to death trying to break past Iraqi lines and escape the ambush.
This is a great article on one of the lesser sung heroes of the 507th Maintenance Company (Jessica Lynch's unit). While Lynch was wrecking her Humvee and being captured unconscious, there were those that fought....
FORT CARSON. Colo. — As former POW Jessica Lynch prepares for the release later this month of her $1 million memoir, the airing of her first TV interview, and a TV movie about the attack on the Army's 507th Maintenance Company, the soldier considered by many to be the 507th's greatest hero enjoys more modest rewards.
Reduced-priced license plates, just $3, for receiving the Purple Heart and the Prisoner of War medal. A Kansas City Royals game ball. "And I get to go on free trips — that's the best part," Pfc. Patrick Miller, 23, said recently, a wad of chewing tobacco in his cheek.
In addition to the things mentioned in the article, Miller also convinced his captors that a paper with secret radio frequencies written on it was only a list of mechanical parts costs. They burned the paper in disgust.
What bothers me most about this is that while Lynch is being hailed as a great hero and receiving a book deal and a movie, Miller is still working in the motorpool on a Colorado army base. He hasn't even been promoted.
In theory, communism is perfect, but like most utopian systems, it would only work under ideal conditions in a perfect world.

An old man protects his property from violent criminals who are enagaged in dealing drugs, trespassing and shooting up a residential neighborhood. I see this as a good thing.

We already have laws to that effect. Guns require background checks and waiting periods, they can't be sold to convicted criminals, etc.

One of the reasons that the use of WoMD is abhorred is that they often cause slow and agonizing deaths. Many of the victims in Japan died long and painful deaths from radiation poisoning. Many others lived the rest of their lives with horrible physical deformities. Additionally, the after affects of the radiation affect Japanese to this day in increased rates of birth defects and Leukemia.
True, but the radioactive effects were not known at the time and were not fully realized until the late 40s. In subsequent post-war tests, inspection teams and troops walked unprotected through the ground zero area right after the bomb had went off. Why? Why would we do this to our own people as well? Because we didn't yet know. It was a new technology whose scope hadn't been fully realized.

The process for mentally training our troops is very akin to traditional brainwashing, and the end result is much closer to my scenerio than this. I do know exceptions, don't get me wrong, but they will tell you the same thing as I do, they had to fight the brainwashing, and most are ashamed of being in the military.
I happen to know people in the military. I don't sense any oozing arrogance and superiority complex, though. Could this just be you?
Also, just because some people beat you up does not mean that the military caused it. There's a certain percentage of mean, violent people in any crossection of people, military or not. You just happened to meet the wrong people, so there's no reason to jump to the conclusion that since some mean people are in the military, that all people in the military are like that. That's a classic case of faulty logic.

You've got to question these type of statistics. The body count site purports that it is tracking civilian deaths. However, they also list Saddam's 14-yr. old grandson, who was, reportedly, a combatant during the standoff in Tikrit. I'm just saying that their definition of "civilian" may be a little broad.
Also, the site provides nothing but raw numbers. Nothing is said about who caused incidents resulting in civilian deaths and whether the situation was justified or not. They also focus solely on Coalition forces and seem to ignore any possible Iraqi-caused casualties. They present themselves to be "impartial" but their background image of falling bombs calls that into question as well.

That would be incredible, but I doubt it. I like their ideology, but Harry Brown just doesn't.... click .....for me. Their domestic policy is superb, but I fear that they'd be isolationist and apathetic in foreign affairs.
Of course, they don't have the money or support to win a major election, so it's all academic. If only Bill Gates could be convinced that they're a new software division of Microsoft and that the Democrats and Republicans were third-party competitors....

Islam is a much harsher religion in doctrine and, in much of the Middle East, in practice. You don't see any websites about it because internet usage is very low in these places, much lower than in the West. There's a certain extremist fringe percentage just about everywhere, but those in the predominantly Christian west are more likely to make a website because they have easier access to the internet. It's simply a matter of probability. If the socioeconomic and technological conditions were reversed, I think you would see an Allah-hates-fags.com

It occurs all the time down at Indianapolis Airport, and I'd imagine moreso at a busy place like O'Hare or LAX. Things happen even if they're not right, and no one complains because, in the eyes of most, if you stop an Arab at the screening station, you're preventing possible terrorism. The only one angry? The Arab.
Actually, what we're seeing now is an avoidance of stopping Arabs at screenings. Screeners don't want to be seen as "profiling". This profiling has had a negative connotation attached to it, but It's really not such a bad thing. When ethnicity is a common trait among terrorists, then ethnicity must, logically, must be a consideration when looking for potential terrorists. How many terrorists are white, 65 years old and in a wheelchair? None, but that's exactly who I saw being picked out for a random search at an airport security screening. I've seen them search kids, blind people w/ seeing-eye dogs, the elderly (even with wheelchairs and crutches), etc. How likely is it that these sort of people are terrorists rather than young Arab men that are being waved through out of political correctness?

It's not. If you draw your conclusions based on fringe groups which make up a tiny minority of the whole, then you're bound to get an incorrect picture.
I could focus on Osama and other radical-fringe muslims and then say that Islam is almost always associated with terrorism, but it wouldn't accurate either.
So, GameboyCC is back....

Would you need to hire "Repo Surgeons"?
It's wrong to blame this on President Bush. These sort of "entitlements" are something the left has always lobbied and pressed for.
It is not the government's business to compensate people for tragedies. To put it bluntly, shit happens. Just because you've suffered does not mean that you're "entitled" to some sort of compensation. Unfortunantly, that's what we've been told for decades.
The current culture of entitlement/victomolgy is all about "nothing being your fault". Something bad happens? Then somebody must be to blame, somebody must owe you something.
Funk is right. The hard part is finding an honest, fascist dicatator that truly wants to work for the good of the nation.

We've done that in the U.S. since the 1930s and much more starting in the 1960s.
In the years since social welfare started, crime has increased, not decreased and there are more poor and homeless than ever.
We've had "The Great Society", we've had welfare, and medficare and social security. All these programs cost us enormous amounts of money, but when are they ever going to reduce the percentage of poor people? So far, they haven't.
