The new favicon is great, the old one always looked too squidged up. I think it was still the old tank too.

Doubt we'll get a news posr for such a minor update (hence me posting my comments here) but maybe this is part of a bigger site update? Hope we can choose the submissions shown on our pages soon.

Ok thanks, they should put some kind of Under Construction thing on the Alpha submission page so people don't take the time to fill it in to find it won't work.

I've been trying to submit an alpha for days but every time I click submit I get sent to a blank page.

Is anyone aware of a problem with the Alphas section atm?

I should go through the whole site and give detailed thoughts on every aspect of the new design, but i got too excited and had to post now!

The new look is amazing, really really amazing.

The user pages are fantastic too. I feared a MySpace rip-off, but I think it's a great feature that works well with the site. Going to go play about with mine in a minute!

Love how voting on Flashes stays on the same page. Also like the way Flashes open in the same page (how is that done???), although often while a Flash was loading I'd open the Flash portal link in a new tab and start finding the next submission to look at, which wont be possible any more. I'll just have to get in the habit of keeping the Portal open in a separate tab.

I was hoping you'd have dropped the 'most recent review' feature.. instead there's now two! This is a bit better as if the most recent one was crap at least the one before might be alright, more a balanced opinion. But still, I'd have prefered just a review summary on the submission page (e.g the last 5 review headlines and the average score).

I am having one MAJOR problem, dont know if I'm alone on it (cause i'm not wasting time reading through everyone elses posts when there's new stuff to check out). I'm stuck on 'Checking Login Status'.. can't access my account at all. Needs fixing pretty urgently unless i'm alone on it.

But in all, it's great. Newgrounds went from 2002 to 2007 in a day (ok I know you've been working on this far longer than a day, but you get my point). Congrats to everyone involved.

I'm really liking the sound of Flash CS3, a while back people were complaining cause they thought the only new feature was AS3, but some of those other new features sound fantastic. I'll definitely be upgrading...after I finish of the stack of half-finished games I've got going on in 8.

Stating the bloody obvious here but isn't it kinda dumb calling it CS3 when there's no CS1 or CS2. They should've just thought up a new name for the whole package (eg Flash CX, Photoshop CX etc).

Hm I can't say I mind just yet, but I may wish to change my name in the future (as this is my third incarnation). I'd like that option to stay.

Maybe this has been suggested already (a LOT of posts to read through here) but could everyone have a separate Display Name and Username? The username could be used for the URL and logging in, and is permanent. The display name would be changeable and appears by submissions, BBS posts and such. Initially everyones display name and user name would be the same by default, but the Display name can be changed when the user wishes.

I think it would be a bad move to make names permanent because that would lead to many people having multiple accounts when then wish for a new name, which would get very confusing.

Is there something wrong here? BR's Climate Chaos and Black Sheep Acres were submitted on the 25th, this is the top submissions for the 26th.

I think the limit raise is a good idea, bandwidth speeds are rocketting (soon we'll be seeing standard sizes up in GBs) so the 5mb is not as necessary as it was. This'll mean more room for Swift 3d and a good music selection.

I wouldn't want to post a beta here at Newgrounds, I think it'd be an open invitation to steal the game (my beta is encrypted, but that can easily be removed with SW Decompler).

Does anybody know a good place to post the beta for a game?

I currently have a game in beta and don't wish to submit to Newgrounds until it has been tested first. This isn't an invitation for beta testers, I wondered if anybody knew of a forum/site where Flash game developers could safely share betas and receive feedback.

You can definitely count me in, I love this series.

Toof gets 2 places, maybe it should be changed so that if a series has two installments in the monthly vote just the highest scoring one gets nominated.

Love it or hate it (I veer towards the former) TooF was a big talking point on NG this month. If just one entry had been nominated it probably would have placed more around #7 which'd be more deserved.

For Whom the Bell Tolls is my favourite, Ride the Lightning being my fave album. Don't really know what's the 'best' cause I don't play, I just listen.

I could never really get into any of the ...And Justice For All album. I much prefer Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and Black Album.

Idea for a new section - Betas. You need to be a credible NG artist to access it, say for example you need a batting average of 3.5+ and at least one portal award. Then you can access the betas section, where you post finished Flashes before you submit them to the portal for others to check. It would ensure that there are no bugs and other glaring areas for improvement, and improve the standard of NG submissions.

But they shoud fix that Alphas section first, that thing needs some serious work doing to it.

I think the only fair fix to this problem would be to have 2 P-Bot posts in one day, for the past 2 days.

Because P-Bit screwed up yesterday.

It's good that these ones haven't been ignored. But are we always going to be a day behind now? How is this going to fix itself?

All these updates are great, any chance of some updates to the Alphas section?

There are a lot of problems with it:

-Flashes are never removed. Old flashes like Dad n Me are still there.
-Alphas can't be edited. It should be changed so you can add new screens and such up to the release of the Flash.
-No way of responding to comments.

It's a good idea for a section but is being wasted currently.

That's much better. I always got paranoid about batting average.

Wish you'd put this up before the delete system though, now I've lost all my old crap :(

Two things:

-I think 400 votes is a bit low for the limit, but you say you plan on changing that anyway.

-When you delete a submission, you get an email saying it was removed due to a low rating, which isn't true.

I heard they might be making a system for deleting your own submissions. I hope they do that, it'd raise the standard of NG if people deleted all their crap, and it'd clear up some space too.

First of all, you need the sound to export for actionscript:

-Right Click your sound in the library
-Select 'Linkage'
-Check 'export for actionscript'
-Type something in the Identifier box eg 'mySound'

Now the button script:

on(press){
mySound = new Sound(this);
mySound .attachSound("mySound");
mySound.start(0, 1);
}

That will play the sound once when the button is pressed. There's lots of things you can do with this, one useful one is to change the number 1 in the brackets to get the sound to play more than once eg mySound.start(0, 5); will play it 5 times.
