Wait, I'm confused now.

I don't remember the original post by ArmorGames saying anything about using music from the audio portal...and now you're saying that we HAVE to? That's going to complicate things more than ever now because this whole contest is music based. And especially for those of us not planning on creating a DDR type game. What if you were to do something the sorts of Punk-o-Matic? I was planning on making my own music. And I wasn't exactly planning on just having songs play.

No disrespect, just a concerned contest hopeful with would-be fantastic ideas...

Your clipboard is just the name for where your computer keeps things when you copy or cut them.

The print screen button will take a screenshot of your entire computer screen and save it to your clipboard. When you hit that button and want to see the image just go into flash and hit paste.

So just take a screenshot of what you want, go into Flash and hit "PASTE"

Yea, it's very easy to accomplish. Just select your character and use the Free Transform tool, underneath the arrow on the toolbox.

If that's your attitude than I say just delete all of your flashes and only submit something if you're certain that it will obtain a perfect 5.0 rating. Seriously, did you make this topic just for attention? Just take the damn compliment lol.

Response to: Rock Out Contest -$17,000 in prizes Posted May 7th, 2007 in Game Development

Sweet, a contest right up my alley....if only I knew more actionscript than basic buttons...lol. But it's music themed so I'll definitely have to submit something. Thanks ArmorGames.

When you press the print screen button it saves the image to your clipboard, just go into a graphics program and paste it.

Thought about joining, don't have the time. But after watching the creator's..um, have you heard of focus? I couldn't even see most of your pictures, and what I could see...eh. I just hope the whole collab doesn't look like that. Hoping to see something impressive from you guys.

Response to: Guitar Hero 2 Tournament Posted May 5th, 2007 in General

I was just playing this with my friend earlier after seeing this. Here's how I did.

Monkey Wrench - 92%
Carry on Wayward Son - 96%
Woman - 91%
Free Bird - 88%
Jordan - 93%

Playing on PS2 all songs on expert. Wish I coulda got in on this tourny lol. I don't even own the game, I play it occasionally at my friends house. I prefer playing my real guitar though :)

Wooooow....

Uhh, keep practicing. No need to buy a $300-$750 wacom tablet like he said just keep trying. Yea...Flash isn't THAT hard, once you get into it so keep it up. Just, definitely don't be trash talking and stuff when you're just starting out, that's a sure way to get a bad reputation.

Just keep trying annnnd maybe try some animating next time?

If I understand right you're just trying to edit a movie clip? Go to your library and open the MC, or just double click the MC.

At 5/2/07 08:30 PM, docgraf1 wrote: i do not understand how to get my flash onto freewebs.com

When you have an account, log in and go to Site Manager.
There will be a list of all the pages and files that are already there (probably just index.html for now)
Above that list there should be a button that says File Uploader
Go there to upload your flash onto your freewebs account
Now open your .fla in flash and publish it as html
That html file will give you the necessary code to put your flash on a webpage
Go back to your Site Manager and find the add new page button somewhere under the File Uploader button. Click that and make a new page
Edit that page and paste in the html from you published file

If you still need help or want me to go over something in more detail just message me, I'd be glad to help. I understand the situation you're in and all, I've been there

Oh and Bluevoda is just a website builder isn't it? I didn't think they offered hosting. Atleast not for free. It's alright but...meh.

Response to: help please...making a flash site Posted May 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

When you upload to ebaums don't you loose like all ownership rights to your work? Yea, lame. Anyway, I'm 16 and I've been doing this kinda thing probably since I was about 13 too. BELIEVE ME, Freewebs works FINE. I too wanted to be able to run a site and all for free, it is possible. If you really want forums you could always sign up for free boards at sites like invisionfree.com or proboards.com there are many others too. Just put a link to them on your site. I've made numerous sites and forums and such and I've never had a problem with these sites. I understand the whole wanting it for free thing and it is possible, and probably a better idea if you just want to host your flashes. Why spend money when you don't need to?

Response to: Random Shorts Collab. Posted May 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Alright thanks, I was just going to ask about the deadline. I should definitely have something for ya by then.

Response to: should i upload Posted May 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

You can just export or publish your .fla as an Animated gif and then upload to imageshack. I'm not really sure what you mean about "making a movie longer without spending 12 hours a day on it" though.

pretty helpful even just to look at the drawing of every shot

Still looking great! Fantastic if I may say.

I was reading the features of CS3, it seemed like most new things were in the coding and actionscript area. I may check it out, thanks.

A bunch of really great entries, I was ready for a crapload of...well, crap. Anyway thanks to all who submitted and also good luck in the judging.

Alright...this is the real reason I posted...

I'm sorry, but I figured this was one of those rare opportunities and I've decided to take it. Tom said "seems" instead of "seams," which is what it's really bursting at. YAY! I corrected TomFulp....that doesn't make me like..an asshole, right?

Happy (belated) Pico Day!

Yea, they look great and would definitely fit better than the sprites. Animating people is hard but avoiding it makes it harder, props for trying something new and more props for doing it well. I loved it until I saw that sprite lol, took my by surprise and just didn't fit.

Also, looking at the link, are you using Flash CS3? You got your hands on that pretty quick, how does it compare to Flash 8? Anyway, getting off topic ;) Can't wait to see more of this.

Response to: how to save flash files? Posted May 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

Yea, what he said ^

There are programs/sites that do this, but that's someone else's hard work bro, show them some respect.

Response to: help please...making a flash site Posted May 2nd, 2007 in Game Development

..what's up with the constant 5 minute apart double posts?

Anyway, I use freewebs, it works fine for hosting flash.
Go to www.freewebs.com and make an account. No, for free you can't have your own custom url but you will get on like this "www.freewebs.com/YOURUSERNAME"
After you make an account go to site manager and upload your flash (swf) file.
Open the .fla file in flash and publish it as html
Go back to freewebs and add a page, then copy the html code into the new page.

Simple directions, if you need help lemme know and I'll go into more detail.

Response to: new group Posted May 1st, 2007 in Game Development

Meant to add more to that.

The problem is, when you're typing the way you are people have a hard time understanding it, they get frustrated and it also makes you look very unprofessional. When you're trying to start a group, especially one like you've described, those are two things you definitely don't want happening.

So no, it's not ok to type without proper grammar or punctuation because people DON'T understand it. Come on, you're 23, haven't you learned how to construct a proper sentence yet? I'm 16 and I've been doing it for years. When I read your posts I thought you were a little kid, you're over here talking about how you will only accept people in your group that will be professional and produce quality flashes, and yet you can't produce a quality sentence. It just doesn't work. That's one reason why people aren't taking you seriously.

If you're 23, then how come I can type better than you can? I'm 14, typing with punctuation, spelling, and GRAMMAR, whereas you claim to be 23, and can't spell what seems to be most of your vocabulary correctly.

My God, I love this topic. Thank you, Newgrounds.

I almostposted just this. Reading that first entry gave me a headache.

Response to: link 2 my movie Posted May 1st, 2007 in Game Development

What he said.
And just keep working at it. You're learning techniques and such and what you can or can't do and that's good. Practice really does make perfect. All of our flash movies looked like that at some time, you can only get better from this point.

Response to: Random Shorts Collab. Posted May 1st, 2007 in Game Development

Ok I'm going through my old files and picking out the good ones as well as making some new ones. I've got so much going on right now, I just hope I can find time to participate. Most of the entries I've seen so far are pretty sweet. Can't wait to see the finished product, and hopefully be a part of it.

"1.) Im sure there are alot of people with "short animations" on there computer and they dont have any use for them, so why not submit them to this collab?"

Just to clarify, we don't actually have to create a flash for this, right? That's what I see a lot of people doing. My computer is full of random short animations that I started and never really finished. Some of them may be worth submitting,.
