Do we have a new candidate for oldest Newgrounds BBS user?

Now don't make me get up out of my wheelchair and hit you with my cane... I might break my hip again.

I dunno, I dunno how old the oldest BBS user was before. I doubt I'm the oldest (I kinda hope I'm not) but I know I'm older than most people here. Ah, well - I just like toons. And games. And... Stuff. Yeah.

My first REAL console (The atari almost doesn't count) was a Sega Genesis. Man, I loved Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Ok, I still do love that game.

What if the animation is clearly below passable standards but is 10 minutes of still images, does that mean we'll be penalised for only watching only part of it?

I guess there would certainly be an exception to my rule, I hadn't thought about that. But if you read the posts that Wade has made, he made it clear - they aren't going to penalize people necessarily for voting after only watching part of a movie. I was just saying that I believe - in general - you SHOULD watch an entire movie before voting.

Of course, if someone posted a "Happy Kitten Slideshow" that went on and on and on for ten minutes, I wouldn't watch the whole thing.

Well, depending on how happy the kittens were. ;)

Wow, do I ever feel old. Um... Yeah. We had pong, back in the 70's. That was probably the first video game I ever played. The first console I, personally ever owned was an Atari 2600. I remember coming downstairs on my birthday, and seeing Donkey Kong on the TV in the living room, and my dad standing there grinning at me. My dad was such a cheapskate, I couldn't believe he actually shelled out the cash for an ACTUAL ATARI.

Ten minutes later, I was horribly disappointed by pac-man. I mean, come on. That wasn't pac man.

My personal policy is this: If I can't be bothered to watch the entire movie, I won't blam it. If I think what I've watched so far is utter crap, I'll just abstain from voting on that entry unless I watch the whole thing. Yes, it usually is pretty obvious within the first ten seconds or so, but I'll still give a movie a chance.

A good example - I just watched a very badly drawn, poorly animated, poorly voiced movie about a half hour ago. As I was watching it, I was sure I was going to blam it.... And then at the end of the movie, it got REALLY FUNNY... The humor factor outweighed everything else.

If I had watched the first ten seconds of this movie and stopped, I never would have gotten as far as the funny part. This is why I don't feel that you can ever judge a movie by how it looks at first, or how the preloader looks, or whatever.

Similarly, I've watched movies that looked like they were going to be really great - and by the end of the movie all I could think was "Is this thing OVER yet? It's TERRIBLE."

So once again, I state my general belief on this - if you can't be bothered to watch the whole thing, don't vote on it. There's more to life than blam/save points.

Looking at my profile, it looks like I've blammed a little over twice the number of movies I've saved. But then, I take lots of things into consideration, and generally only use zero for total crap, and only use 5 for absolutely amazing.

Man, I went without running my IP blocker for a day, and thought the banners had been fixed. But no, I went to a page, and there was the ad banner again. This one was for American Express. Clicking outside of it did no good. It was there, and it wouldn't go away. Mousing over it, even clicking on it didn't help. It just annoyed me more.

So... Yeah. Grumble. Gonna launch my IP blocker again. In case anyone cares to know, PeerGuardian does a good job of blocking the ads - just make sure to download the ad blocking pack for it. That'll fix the problem good.

I use Mozilla, and have been getting these ads for about a month. They cover up the description of the animation, often times they cover the watch this movie button, they are really obnoxious. I finally installed an IP blocker that blocks the IP addresses of most companies that supply internet advertising, and that solved the problem. Did the company doing this really think making the ads MORE obnoxious would make me pay more attention to them? Foolish.

Actually, I've been suspecting for some time that it's a netscape/mozilla issue, possibly a glitching "pop-up blocker countermeasure"... It detects the popup is blocked, it puts up a flash floater ad instead... But it doesn't behave right. Ah, well. They shot themselves in the foot. I don't see any ads now.
