Does anybody have any idea what I might be doing wrong. I left the field that says 'movie version' blank, could that have something to do with it?
Hiroyuki Imaishi!
I also think it's probably best to do a combination of both.
Also if you do a search on NG, there are a few interactive tutorials that explain everything you're trying to do.
I made this by just following a tutorial I found on here a while ago.
Flash kit also has some basic tutorials on battle systems and stuff.

Stream is so much easier to sync the graphics and music, but the Stream sound doesn't travel to other scenes like Event does.
What do I do in that sense?
that's a good question.
Ok, so I watched some of your cartoons. First thing I'll say is that your stuff is better than some of the things Adult Swim has shown in the past, like 12 ounce mouse, I really hate that show because it's boarder line un-watchable.
Your stories are almost there, I just think you need to work on your structure a little better.
You have interesting stories and setups, but they never lead to anything, they sort of just fizzle out. Like the most recent one with the kids going to the hot dog eating contest. You did all this build up for the hot dog eating contest, and then you never show it. I really wanted to see the contest. It just cuts to to rick ross on the couch and the cartoon ends. There's no payoff. That was also a missed opportunity to have a big finish with the contest.
Without the "setpiece" or payoff, it's just a string of randomly occuring events, and promising something to an audience (like the hotdog contest) and then not delivering pisses people off and results in lower scores.
The second thing I think you need to work on is the pacing of your scenes. Some parts tend to drag on unnecessarily. You sort of have to know where your going, and then keep everything moving quickly or else it get's boring.
I like your animation style and I think it fits your storytelling style, I also think the music is impressive. I just think you need to keep trying until you figure it out. Really, that's the only way to really improve is too keep practicing.
story is everything. Even if you don't have the best art/animation in your flash, people appreciate a good story.
I think nowadays everybody is drawing with a tablet, unless they just happen to have incredible mouse skills. Back in the day I would do my animation on paper with pencil, scan it and "ink" it in flash with the line tool. That method was pretty time consuming but gave the animation a cleaner and more professional look in my opinion.
I just use a tablet now because it's so much faster to just draw directly into flash.
Everything is outsorced nowadays. I could be wrong but I think the last show that had animation production done in the us was fosters home for imaginary friends.
I know the standard for Disney's traditional animation back in the day was around 12 seconds per week. Which is a hell of a lot of work. When I was back in school doing animation on paper, I was working about 6-8 hours a day and was pumping out around 6 seconds a week (but keep in mind, I wasn't doing disney quality animation).
I think it really depends on the type of animation you're doing and knowing how fast you can pump stuff out.
I think 1-2 months per 3-5 minute episode of flash cartoon is pretty standard for just one guy working on their cartoon every single day.
I highly reccomend you find a copy of Richard William's animator's survival kit. Its one of the best animation resources on the planet.
Another thing that might help you out with walk cycles is to take video of yourself doing the kind of walk you want and then refference it frame by frame.
yeah, sorry about that. I didn't see that thread until after i made this.
I think I was supposed to post this here, oops. Anyway I'm going to be remaking my webcomic kerslash into an animated series and that I'm taking auditions for voice actors.

Flash can do it automatically with Trace Bitmap.
ten minutes seems a little ambitious for a first animation, not that I'm trying to discourage you or anything. My advice would be to start with something that's as short as you can possibly make it without sacrificing the plot, and then gradually work your way up to doing longer shorts.
Do you have a scanner or web camera? There is a free animation program called monkey jam that you can use. Just do your animation on paper and scan or capture the frames into monkey jam. You can even add audio.
It's a very basic program, but it's a good starting point if you want to see your drawings in motion.
I think it's a very good submission imo, especially the zombie mode bit.
The artwork and animation are pretty strong. I only have 2 minor nit picks:
1. The pacing of your scenes could probably move a little faster.
2. The ending is a little predictable (except zombie mode, I love zombie mode!)
His reaction to the bird popping is also great, I lol.
Wow, this is the perfect thread for me. I got a whole bunch of unfinished crap. I don't know if you guys are limiting how many things we can post at a time, so I'll just start with these:
I got a lot of animation tests too...
