Certain periods are honors classes, so It wouldn't work out all that great.

No, compared schedules with my other friends, and the precise same classes I have right now are also in different periods. I know when all of my teacher's AP classes are and I devised a way to keep the same classes I have, but at different times. It works perfectly.

Seriously, this is basically the only thing that my school's counselors have to do all year. The rest of the year, they basically do nothing. Besides it's their job. Obviously they are going to have to do some schedule changes. Why on earth would they sign up for the job if they weren't willing to do it?

Besides, a few kids actually want to get OUT of Mr. Gossman's class, because he's too hard for them. They want to get switched to the class I'm currently in because it's a lot simpler.

What's really so bad about that? My 9th grade History teacher was the exact same. Everyone got out of the class with A's or a B+, and we still learned everything that we needed to learn.

... How?

I sincerely doubt that I can pull that off with a sucky teacher in an AP Calculus AB class where I also have to take an AP test.

If I ever have a bad teacher, I feel like I basically just wasted a year and didn't learn anything.

Not to mention, I really need a good teacher this year or I'm going to have to pay thousands of dollars for math classes in college if I fail the AP test (I will undoubtedly fail i stick with this teacher.)

Trust me, I tried to give him a chance. But, it's not even just him. His class is full of loud, stupid people that shouldn't even be in the class. And he just quietly says "Be quiet", but they don't shut up. He then continues on when you can hardly hear him over the noise of the class. And when he was trying to teach how to do something, he just wrote things on the board and said, "Do that." Literally.

He's really just a completely sucky teacher.

Schedule Problems Posted August 26th, 2008 in General

High school councelors are basically the most useless beings on the face of the earth. I am now stuck with a parent-teacher conference with the principal just because of a friggin' schedule change because they won't let me sit down and explain myself.

You see, in our school, there is basically 1 excellent teacher, Mr. Gossman. He is really just this genius that retired a while ago and has complete financial freedom, and is now teaching just for the hell of it. He is known throughout the school as THE math guy. I had him this year, but I now have another teacher who is known throughout the school for being a dumb teacher who gives out busy work.

So, basically, my high school plans have revolved around Gossman, but I now have to fight to get back into his class. I even checked schedule issues, and they are not a problem at all! I would be able to keep ALL the same classes but just at different periods if I were to switch to him. It couldn't be simpler. But they have to make it hard!

Any of you guys have situations like that, this year? Also, what should I tell the principal, because the lady at the front desk said that I need a VERY good explanation, or she will deny it.

Beating Ape Escape.

I played plenty of games as a kid, but Ape Escape was the first LONG game that I completely beat. (Other than fighting games, Parappa The Rapper, and other shorter stuff.)

I played it recently to relive old memories. Easiest friggin' game ever. I thought it was so hard as a kid.

Isn't a fly's lifespan about a day or two, anyway? What does it matter if someone kills them a bit sooner. Nice quick death.

Anyway, I only kill a bug if it's annoying me, and most of my friends are cool with it.

I do have this one friend that won't kill a bug, but he's not bitchy about it. He just doesn't kill bugs, he doesn't force others to do the same.

I think it's a good base ...but (saw that comin', right?) ...it looks sloppy (sorry).

Did you trace the font by hand, or is that just how it looks? If so, maybe try to find a similar one that's cleaner. Fonts like that, when made all cap, tend to be hard to read... you could try upper/lower, or use two fonts (one for each word).

Yes, I traced the font for two reasons.

1) I've tried to download a font before, but I just have no friggin' clue how to do it. ): I'm basically a download retard.

2) I was going for a paint look, but I forgot about that when I added shine n' whatnot. The original font was too clean for a "Dipped in ink pen" look. But with the shine and stuff, it now kinda looks weird.

To get an even distance between the text and the guy/building art... (if this is done in Flash) select the text, copy/paste in place on a new layer... break it apart and then add a stroke the same color as your background (shirt) color (sorry if you already knew that :P).

How do you add stroke? I think I get the effect you are going for, though, so I tried to mimic it with a very strong outer glow of the background color. Yes, I'm a nub. D:

The large black areas on the guys body (particularly his left shoulder) are really distracting and his head seems too far forward. His pose is kinda stiff too... maybe add some bend to his arms or arch is back a bit.

I made it normal shading. But, honestly, I don't feel like drawing that dude again for the new pose. I see the effect you're thinking of, and I like it. But, it's just not worth it. ):

The blue gradient is kinda ...noobish. You could probably get away with just black.

Black looks like this. Hm... I personally don't really like it.

lol... but like I said... it's a good base! The concept is solid, the proportions and weight seem good... just needs some tweaking/tidying up.

Thanks. I'll work on the font right now to see how it looks after I trace it carefully.

Yeah, I have been thinking that, a bit. But, if anything, I would probably just use the 2nd version but just take out the drop-shadow. Otherwise, I kinda like version 3.

I don't know, like I said I don't usually do graphic design- perhaps you may be right. I understand that a too busy/detailed designs can be a turn off. Hence my curiosity.

I guess that everyone has different tastes to speak of.

Regardless, I certainly wish you luck on the contest, CefyJr.

Thanks. Yeah, I really want to win now that I heard that someone's older sister sent in a shirt on Friday, and the band director really liked it. She's not even in band!

Plus, I heard that she draws anime-ish. I don't want anime on my band shirt! Especially because it's ARABIAN Legends.

Get that green out of there. But, I do kinda like the idea you had for the "Featured Movies" panel.

Also, the gradient on "NEWGROUNDS" is way too much. If you want to throw in a gradient, don't go overboard and make it pitch black.

Hmm, I've not done much in the graphic design field but...

Maybe the font could use a metallic effect- depth with shadow around edges and highlights in the middle/where light would be hitting them.

Perhaps the same could be said for the character too. So it might not look too flat and to add enticing detail.

My two cents.

Like that?

Is the drop shadow a bit much? I thought it looked pretty nifty.

Well, I'm in the band at my school, and our marching show this year is going to be "Arabian Legends."

The band director decided to make a contest for who can make the best shirt which we will wear at EVERY GAME! Thus, if I win, I will have about 150 people wearing my shirt about once a week.

Anyway, this is my design. Feel free to post opinions on what would make my design better or even post your OWN design! (I will not steal any designs. I'm just saying that you can post if you want.)

Remember, if you make a suggestion, you could have about 150 people that you don't know wearing a shirt that you contributed to. :3

I have to turn in my design on Monday at 5:00. So, deadline for suggestions is Monday morning.

It's basically going to be just like middle school if you don't have any classes with upperclassmen. And if you do have classes with upperclassmen, it's just like middle school but with older people.
