Most of the time, hair will have a point where most of the hair originates from. Yes, this even applies to messy haired fellas. You followed this rule on some of the drawings you did, but some of the hairs were a bit of a mess.

This guy describes it pretty well. Skip to around 18:20 to see what I'm talking about.

He isn't saying that you should draw in that style. He's just giving you some tips on construction. I would listen to this dude. About a year ago, I thought construction lines were just stupid and time consuming. They actually really help because it allows you to see each part of your drawing in separate parts and evaluate mistakes. As you see in this picture I tried, I found the lines in my sketch a bit off from what I wanted because construction lines make mistakes easy to find. All I had to do was alter the lines a bit (Mainly on the right of the head) and I had what I wanted.

In short, construction lines are your friends.

Also, I would stick with the earlier styles, rather than this one, but that's just me.

Oh, and a pro-tip for shading in Flash. Turn on "Paint Inside". Just click that little blue circle with the red line through it (Right above "Brush Size"). It makes it to where you don't have to worry about going over the black lines.
