I managed to watch all the NATA entries in this post! I was really surprised by a lot of these peeps!

Thanks for the shout out Tom! Duck Day was actually supposed to be my submission for NATA 13, so it's good to hear you liked it! I really feel for some of the unfinished submissions this year... their animation is crazy!!!

Good luck everybody!

If the person hits spacebar in a certain predefined zone, the player MC will be instructed to play(), since the forst frame has stop() on it, it will loop back and stop again.

This can take you several weeks, though, so do a quiz for now, but find a way to make it exiting.

I think I understand, thank you!

I would make a slideshow but I am so close to finishing this I can taste it! if you could tell me the script for to make a button (spacebar) swap movieclipA for movieclipB, let movieclipB play, then switch back to movieclipA I think I can make this work!

If you miss hitting space on your keyboard, then it continues the animation? What? How in the fudge could we detect if a person sitting behind his keyboard missed pressing the space?.....

SpaceBAR. What are you talking about? If they don't press spacebar before the pit it redirects them to a fall in a hole/ game over scene.

Actually, I think I have an easier way to rap this project up. Can someone tell me how to make a window of like ten or so frames where if you press spacebar it continues the animation, and if you miss it the animation jumps to a game over scene?

If you were to make a completely side-scrolling platform jumper, that would be much easier. In the case you drew, the jump "failing" depends on your y coordinate. If you don't know how to program that well, I suggest you stick to a complete side-scroller with no perspective.

Good point. I'll fix that right away.

:...I'm sure someone will post some links to get you started, if you tell us what AS version you're using (i.e. AS2 or AS3).

AS2, and I get what you were saying about learning programing, but I'm really more interesting in animation than that. We had to make a game so I was trying to blend a little game in with an adventure movie (kind of like a Dragon's Lair).

Not saying I don't want to learn how to program, I was just focusing on the animation

I'm doing this for me. I wanted to make this anyway, am just submitting it for a grade. I love this man ;).

Help Me Programers! Posted May 25th, 2011 in Game Development

I have to make a game by Friday for my final exam! Everyone else is making simple 10 question quizzes, but I was all like FUCK THAT and am making a sweet adventure platformer of awesomesauce. The only problem is I have no idea how to actually program in flash. I can make complex gotoandplays and buttons and what-nots, but I haven't gotten into actually writing scripts.

I need someone to help me make a really quick platforming stage in this game I'm making with the following:

-Is able to make the guy go into the jump animation by pressing the spacebar

-10 jumps from platform to platform that get harder and harder

-when they fall in the hole it needs to go to a dying scene

-when they reach the last jump it cuts to a winning scene

I have all the assets made already and just need someones help to put it together!

Please reply in this thread or PM me ASAP!
