I worked my way through the ABRSM Music Theory books...

And then I went to uni and studied music. The ABRSM books are brilliant though.

@CDMusic and @Malifex, I haven't gotten any message from you about your votes or lack thereof. Just thought I should give one last notification since there are only about 3 hours before voting ends.

We have 13 votes, by the way, and a 3-way tie for second place.

Ah shit, I was hoping I would be able to vote today. Started a new job and basically had no time to do anything but work and sleep. My bad, sorry guys.

Be careful with those acid synths man, they can be dangerous if they're not properly contained
Well it's one of the seven deadly synths

I'll go home now

What if made that post from home? Then you would already be home. Where would you go after bad jokes then? (p.s. I giggled to that joke).

I have a job interview in two hours, woop.

I just love having my face melted off. Makes me feel all gooey.

I totally don't know whether I approached my piece right, but oh wells.

Uploading my piece atm. It's taking for fucking ever. I hate my internet connection.

Well I posted my vote publicly, but to reiterate I enjoyed CDMusic's guitaring since I had this discrimination towards guitars for this round. This is actually so cool that tracks remain anonymous until the end. It potentially exposes us to people we didn't know about before by making us all equal without the familiarity of authors. Also, success! I got a vote! heahuehauehauehaueh!!! It will be very interesting to see what comes up in this coming round!

Thanks for the vote, haha ^^

I'd like to explain the production quality of my submission. I couldn't find my SM57 anywhere so I was stuck using the vocoder mic for my miniak. None of my mic stand clips fit this silly bendy microphone so it was balanced on a cup leaning out over the side of my desk. Not exactly ideal recording logistics, but oh wells, was just glad I managed to pull something out. Also, the reason it seemed to end abruptly is as I wanted it to work as a loop. In a JRPG mood atm, and them loops are awesome.

Excited about the new theme, will be fun to try and boom something out over 3 days. Good luck everyone!

I'll be revealing all of the votes (not who voted, but what tracks got how many) tomorrow along with the names and the authors of the tracks. :) At that point you can say who you voted for if you want, it won't matter.

Also, all the feedback everyone's been giving everyone else is awesome! I wish I had extra prizes to give all of you, since you deserve it.

Man I need to start using MS Paint to write stuff.

Response to: What instruments do you play? Posted May 24th, 2013 in Audio

Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keys (to an extent). Guitar being my primary instrument and the one I studied at uni.

Response to: What Do You use? Posted May 24th, 2013 in Audio

I run Pro Tools as my DAW. Score in Sibelius. Compose either in Sibelius, on guitar or keyboard (I use my Akai Miniak as my midi keyboard).

Hardware wise, Digidesign Eleven Rack + DSi MoPho + Akai Miniak + guitars + some mics.

Recently started using Miroslav Philharmonik for my orchestral sounds, still need to play around with it more to get it sounding how I like.

At the moment focussing on writing orchestral-ish game based stuff. Some guitar pieces, some electronic stuff. It varies.

I hope it's guitar or else I'll break the 4 instrument rule. :p

I wrote a piece using Rabanastre from Final Fantasy 12 as inspiration. Orchestral and marimba. I love marimba.

Yeah, that'd be great, do you have any samples online ?

Not at the moment. My laptop with all my stuff from uni is currently needing repaired. Give me an idea of what you're looking for and I can shoot a sample in that mood to you over the weekend.
