Zebra - Simple yet so much you can do with it, should be releasing a new pack soon...
and NI Alicia's Keys.... Ahhhhh
Going out... I always seem to have moments when I am walking on my own, writing small pieces in my head... I wish I could record everything in my head.
Samples are cool, its the only thing I have made money professionally out of (well a decent amount of money!)...
I don't really sample specific instruments, although I have in my Product Cinematic Rhythms, really interesting in what you can achieve recording loads of things out and about
Just added you on Skype. :)

I think if you mix LASS right it can be very powerful. Just my 2 cents.
I agree, I hate some of the sound in LASS... But turns out you have to work a bit with LASS more than other libraries to get that good sound, now that all my EW libraries have gone, I have to get used to LASS (looking forward to it)
I never really had a lot, just once that really took ages but I felt sorry for the 2 people.
Going to college on a train and we had to stop about 4 stations before my college and turn's out someone got pushed in the train line just before a train going past the station. I had to get a bus to college in the pouring rain which took a long while.
On the way back I had to stop 2 stations before my home town and turns out another person got hit by a train (he actually jumped in front of it)... Took me about an hour to walk home in the pouring rain but I just thought "Imagine if it was me who got pushed"... Damn, now every time whenever I travel by train, I make sure I am well away from the edge and near people...
Yeah I met a girl online, turns out she lived only about 3 hours away from me... So we planned to meet up half-way and I was so nervous. I thought she was the same height as me but she was a tad smaller which was cool... Had a relationship with her for about 3 weeks and broke up (long distance relationship = no no)... about 2 months later she moved and was literally about a 15 min drive from my house... Never spoke to her since, she was very shy in person.... :O
Does it count as for films? xD
Well, the first time... I put it on DVD and showed it to my partner and I thought it was the beginning to a whole new life of mine when I was watching it. I was not the one watching the film thinking, who done the music for this? It made me feel like I could do something in my life, haha :)

xD Have you seen the weird twitch outs with the character? Some parts of the map, if you do certain tricks and not land them, the character goes weird and his legs get all twister, its so funny

I don't even mess with the Symphonic Orchestra anymore. That library dates back as early as 2002 (recording sessions), and it shows, haha.
I think SO is still good, especially if someone uses it properly... But as the others say, the Brass does suck, the only thing IMO that sounds alright is the 3 French Horn fast layer sustain, and also I think the older version of SO is better (I don't know why), I prefer the Komplete edition which you can no longer get, but I managed to get a copy ;) It really doesn't suck up your CPU, just RAM...
I would buy HW Brass any day over Strings as you said you have Cinesamples, Symphobia and LASS... It does sound like a good plan to buy HW strings in the future though, I might actually get a copy of HW Brass after Christmas xD
Google -> Free DB Level meter?

Wooooo!
(It's not a advantage to have all your songs the same DB.... as Metal said, use your ears... Different songs will be different to the volumes.... You might need specific parts louder than you would in another song...)
Extremely short Bach technique Chorale... and I converted the midi on the internet to MP3 sounds and some of the longer notes sound weird, get cutoff....

Tons of free VSTS:
Also FX are available...
Really cool to fish around for free Synths and more...

I would try actually turning the Microphone the other way to the sound you are recording (common sense!) Although it sometimes might turn out different.... You have to get the mix correct of course, not impossible but takes time.
You know, an acoustic guitar sounds cool if you record it in a corner of a room with the microphone turning the other way... (Done this at a studio and it only came out good once...)
NI Massive -> Internet -> Free Presets -> Dubstep
or...
NI Massive -> Youtube/Internet -> Learn a bit about Massive -> Your Dubstep....
Tons of people use Massive, it's very flexible.... A VST that allows you to create your own sounds using Waveforms, filters, modulations, FX etc.... Basically sound synthesis..

Duhhh! I don't use the standalone version, it don't work for me as a standalone :(

I believe Kontakt is a Sampler/Sample Player? :(
I started out on the computers almost 2 years ago but I was/am a pianist so it gave me a better chance, I still had to learn a lot of things but it did really help me out.
If you are looking for any VST's I would recommend:
Take a look at this: (A lot of us from Newgrounds show off our arsenal!)
KVR audio:
Another free instrument site:
I will be releasing something for free soon when the website is actually it's own domain name:
(I am making a Tonal rhythm library and a synth!)
Huge sample list on KVR Forums
A lot of library demos including 8Dio, Cinesamples etc..
(For when you have the big money to spend on VSTS/Libraries!) xD
Ermmm, can't think.... That should get you started with a good amount of VST's.... Some free on the KVR are bloody brilliant, I have downloaded so many. xD
Yet with 8Dio, I heard you can't use the discount codes with bundles? :(
A news letter I received just for those who are subscribed to NI's letter thingy.... xD
"It’s Thanksgiving. For the next ten days, get a massive 50% off 68 KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects including ACTION STRINGS, MASSIVE, KONTAKT 5, REAKTOR 5, and more. The deals don’t stop there – XXL means that updates, upgrades, and crossgrades are also half-price. Thanksgiving XXL ends on Monday, December 9 – don’t miss out!"
Just thought I would share so you wouldn't miss out on these fantastic plugins/effects/libraries...
Just create music, that is the tip to getting noticed...
Don't worry if the first year of your journey you don't have 10,000 fans.... Just keep doing what you like.
Good luck on your journey. ;)
Greedy bastards
Thinking about it, although all these VST's like the Orchestral ones limit your compositions, in the long run.... it's cheaper than hiring a full orchestra for a couple of weeks + all the equipment... (but of course an orchestra sounds better) xD
Add me in! This sounds amazing and would be a challenge for me to use just a piano (hopefully I can... I would rather use just a piano)
What I like :
-Chorale type style in the composition, making sure each instrument helps each other in a specific way
-A piano composition but a composition that allows a infinite amount of stories to be told within...
-Jazz that changes through different keys very fluently
-Mozart piano drafts (taking Mozart's style into your own piano composition)
-Latin Piano solo... JUST piano....
Ermmm I can't think... yeah..

That might of came out wrong....
If you tell someone how to "exactly" how to play a chord on the piano, then they will always play the chord like you showed...
But if you tell someone HOW to play it, then I would expect them to play it how they want using the knowledge I explained? I hope that makes sense? O_o

Sometimes making your passion into a job isn't actually a good idea. :P
I have never wanted to be end up as a composer or pianist for a full time job, but my dream job is to be a music teacher... I don't know why, I just would love to teach people when I get older, not compose for films, or to teach people piano... No matter how stressed I'll get, I just feel it inside me? xD
I don't want to tell people how to do this, to learn this, not to learn this, not to do that.... I want to tell people WHY they should learn/do it, or not learn/do it..... (If that makes any sense?) xD

Was you the guy that posted a girl the other day/earlier? O_o
Also guys, what's opinion on SynthMaker vs SynthEdit?
Synth Edit takes more CPU...
SynthMaker allows VST and Audio Unit exporting? 32bit+64bit? (SynthEdit only allows 32+64bit VST)
SynthEdit is much cheaper... xD
I got told to get my hands on SynthEdit first and then in the future, get SynthMaker

Cracked me up, thanks for sharing this man
Really interesting to read as a short article, but explains a lot...
I think its all up to the first few projects that you get paid for really make you think "Should I be doing things for free still or do I actually need to get paid now?".
Ever since I got paid a couple of months ago for the first project I ever done, I have got a couple of few more projects that are money involved and it makes me look differently at the project itself. I tend to literally take a lot of time doing something that gets you some cash rather than something for free, I am sure you know what I mean. I still do a lot of free projects but because I am literally busy now, I tend to be lazy...
There are so many people out there that expect to get paid straight away though don't you think?
