At 6/23/07 05:59 AM, WritersBlock wrote: So is this the way this thread should go?
The people who feel their scores are sub-par, but their songs aren't get their song properly rated and paragon gets the satisfaction of having a cleaner audio portal.
But then it would be just like the audio adverts...

Maybe start a list of people here who can help rate/review songs on request (is there a song review request club already?) and people can pm them to "check out their new song", or "I just got 0bombed can you help me out?"

What does the people think?

Ugh.. "The people" as you call us, oh heroic noble, are not pansy asses who beg for five votes after they post their songs when they known damn well good that they're going to get zero votes and they know damn well good that the audio portal is corrupted, yet they keep posting their tracks regardless of this message; then they complain and zero vote others out of pure anger and dickery. The audio portal is very well open for criticism and opinions, and that is why I like it above Ad-infested/company controlled "Indie" audio sites. Also, ParagonX9 is not a leader of the audio portal, and your term "little people" is ridiculous and highly offensive. The audio player that plays her music on the audio frontpage (as you should know is the source of what publicity she has today) shall be demolished and replaced by a new audio player which plays the picks of the week. Uh oh! There's one for the "little people!" There is no monarchy of the portal and decisions are best left to the ones that can handle them and not to a bunch of squabbling dolts that oppress zero voting even though they do it often themselves.

Enough picking. I believe this is a good move, yet I know that there are very little people who's going to comply. It'd be very rare if anybody is going to be overjoyed at voting a five for somebody else that is in their own genre. Now, if somebody from techno asked you classical men for help, then you'd probably say yes as a good sport. Yet, another classical man asks you for help, I don't see many hands; because to you, he's a competitor in your main genre. Heh, The voting system is so badly shit on that even if you do go and five the odd numbers, it won't make much a difference at all. It's so brought down by zero votes and fives that it can't be brought up by 3 points. Pitiful.

Your efforts are for nothing, wait for the redesign.

(Watch me get a truck load of zero votes after posting this. Ah, I can see you idiots now, "Uh oh. Looks like I've got my dick caught in my fly. Guess some zero voting is in order!")

Sigh.. I respect what you're doing Paragon, but I've been through this so many times before. My music is periodically zero voted by arrogance, jealousy, and idiocy. Even with this team of people you can't stop zero voters. By what I've witnessed, there are a lot of zero voters just standing by on watch. You may not have had to fend off zero voters before, Paragon, but the audio portal was overlooked too much in the past and it has rotted. We could clean bits and spots of it, but our efforts are pointless. Promises made for the redesign shall be broken, and I have solid word from a man that is launching this redesign to prove it. I just wish there was a way to defeat zero voters and let the songs that are truly deserving shine with glory and might.

Of course, if you are not willing to listen, then my efforts here were pointless. I can't see much coming from this redesign, and I'm not planning to stick here for long is nothing happens.

-Bosa

Yes, everything is determined by its ability of survival and its abilities in general. Everything else is luck, if you'd ask me.

Yeah, but it's going to have to be a very fast vibrato. I''ll try and see what happens.

At 6/8/07 12:03 AM, MaestroRage wrote: heh, no no Electronik. See, a lot of these composers who spend at most an hour on a track feel like they've created something legendary. And then they upload it and vote 5 on it right away. They see other peoples work, and with complete disregard to considering how much effort may have been put into that song, they 0 it. To them, losing an hour is nothing. To the seasoned producers who spend well over 6-10 hours on a single track, that one single 0 vote is a complete insult to their efforts.

Which stems wildly in why so many people get angry and leave. It's like writing a book, and then having somebody rip out the pages so they could fill in the space with their own words, in which the pages are double spaced, size 40 font.

Rage, I'm glad you understand how some of us feel about idiocy. Yes, audio that should be a masterpiece and featured with 10 Grammy Awards is usually destroyed and ignored mostly here on Newgrounds. Zerovoters are enemies that cannot be defeated because they will always have power over your hard work as long as Newgrounds allows it. Most of my tracks take around three to four days to completion and when I find out that they are zerovoted, it's just a horrible thing to see. Something inside pulls you down and anger takes the place of excitement. I don't blame some great authors for leaving the Newgrounds audio portal, they just don't want to deal with it anymore.. at least until the promised update comes along.

Heh, heh.. however.. if something that I remember is that your enemies always have a way to be defeated. I've been unsuccessful and the more I submit, the more frustration I get because of zero votes. I've been trying to stand strong, keep submitting and making allies, but it seems that jealousy and arrogant-minded fools just keep tracking me down and destroying me. You know, the audio portal is wrongly ruled at some points and there ARE better audio submission sites out there that have fairer voting rights. I can even believe that some more publicity comes from other audio sites. However, there's just something about Newgrounds that I can see hope in.. and that feeling of hope is has kept me here standing today.

I have searched for horn rips, the only one that I've found that suits my needs to the least is the French Horn Rip in the Edirol HQ Orchestra VST. Still, I'm looking for the same thing except I need it to play long notes, not just short blows.

Questioning

Topic: Horn Ripping Help

Hello, friends. I have a question for you more.. experienced composers who have worked on classical pieces before; preferably dark pieces.

Alright, let's say you're working on some sort of confrontation theme or maybe even a battle theme if that's the case. You happen to be on a part where the climax of the battle is reached. You're looking for some sort of innovation that will help express the climax, and the best way to do it is with horn rips. I have always tried to simulate horn rips using programs such as FL Studio and Cubase. However, I could never figure out exactly how to do it. I tried using slides in the FL piano roll, that didn't work. I also tried making really small notes going up and down, with the volume altered on each note. That didn't work, either. I just don't know the answer. I've been working on this thing for over a year now, and I would appreciate it if any of you have had experience in this field before. If you don't know for a fact, then at least give me an idea that may be the answer. I'll try it and see what happens.

Also note, that I'm sure that most of you don't know what horn ripping is. If you've ever heard the music for Batman Forever, it is used quite a lot. I believe it is done when the horn player keeps the tongue constantly in motion while breath is entered into the valve. It's like a crazy unleash of a note.. it's hard to explain, but I just hope you can understand by what I've provided thus far. If you need any more info that is not listed, tell me.

Of many years I have stood, waiting for an opprutunity, I have been pondered with many questions. What of the Bosa? Who cares for the great forums? You may be stupid, and have no idea what I'm talking about, but hinder upon this, "Even though you are always right, you are never certain." As what the future brings upon Newgrounds, is why I'm here.
You never know when an idiot might show up, you must protect your intelligence and not be fooled. Many are victims to lies and idiocy. I am here to enforce the laws of the great man. I am here to help Newgrounds. I may be of no importance to your undoubtful little minds, yet I am the leader of my own will, upon it I shall have my right of speech. Only the great man would not allow himself to be undignified. Only the great man would not allow himself to be fooled by ignorance.

I believe in a new resolution. I think those who are smart, will continure to make Newgrounds better. Not make it turn into a land of desolation at idiocy level. If one understands another, it would be quite easier for this website to live in peace. If you are a teenager, then I have probably already angered you by now. If you are one who has the patience of earth, then come. Come upon this trail of mine.. follow the only way you can follow. Be you idiot or not, I can help you with great respect. I welcome you, and your questions. Anything you wish to ask, ask me. I will answer the questions the wisest I could possibly answer. If you've come here to insult me, I will point out your IQ and explain the reson why you have come here. My best questions are that of philisophical points on Newgrounds.

Now then, ask away.

We pass the word around; we ponder how the case is put by different people, we read the poetry; we meditate over the literature; we play the music; we change our minds; we reach an understanding. Society evolves this way, not by shouting each other down, but by the unique capacity of unique, individual human beings to comprehend each other.

The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created--created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination.

ALRIGHT! Here it is! The winners! Remember.. you are all winners for trying. And it was very difficult to decide. But, here they are.

1, Evark for.. Religion is the endless struggle to share with others what we are too smart to believe, while science is the endless struggle to define what we're too stupid to understand. The man of true intelligence places little faith in either.

2, PinkTacos for..The best way to live is at the max, but living at the max could result in a loss of humor, therefore you lose friends, so maybe life should be lived at the max or at the minimum.

Thus meaning you should live life at the very medium!

3, Fear524 for..Your soul is like a puddle of water. Some people's are deep and others shallow.

I must admit.. it was a tough competition. And tough decisions. yet, I had three people here in my workspace.. and we all aggreed on who the winners were. Remember, you ALL are winners for trying your best. And I hope your looking forward to another next month. Good night everybody!
