We dont get ads for prescription medication in the UK ; with us its usually "the strongest painkiller available without prescription" and so on.

But I guess the reason is that patients will be more likely to ask / pressure their doctor to prescribe the advertised drug. Theres got to be people pushy enough to do it out there?

Ive been reading 'Thief of Time' by Pratchett, and theres a concept that pretty much explains this.

You cant say what makes a work of art based on the individual atoms of pigment that make up a painting ; the finished work is more than just a collection of pigments.

Similarly the body is made of atoms, yes, but the overall human is more than that.

Guess its the ole 'Whole greater than the sum of its parts thing'

I go with the second.

Ill leave it up to the poster before me to discredit your first points as he did a pretty good job of it.

At this point you can take it a lot more than 2 ways.
1) Why would Iran play along with a plan that was supposed to create incentive to attack?
2)British troops are well trained enough to know that a head to head with a bigger, better armed ship doesnt bode well for them.

and heres the way I take it:
Iran is throwing it's political weight about. Wether in retalliation to the limitations imposed on its nuclear development im still undecided.

Aparently, the other 11 soldiers have now admited to tresspassing, but won't be broadcast on TV due to "Britains changed attitude". This is the fucking stupedest thing I've ever heard. They either know that the videos have been analysed and show signs of discontent and hence refuse to show any more, or the other 11 are being mistreated and tortured and Iran don't want to let the world see the state they're in. The simple fact that the Iranian news used the term "clamorous British government policies" shows how they're brainwashing everyone.

I think the point you were making is that the marines and sailors admitted trespass under duress. And I agree. Held hostage in a hostile nation, its not the best for morale. To a point you'll go along with whatever your captors say they want you to do.

Heres something though. Why doesnt Britain just admit wrongdoing, get the marines back and stick up the political equivalent of the middle finger by immediately retracting the admission once the sailors are back aboard a Royal Navy vessel?

Java Password Manager Posted March 28th, 2007 in Programming

Hey all. Ive got an asignment to make a java password manager. Doesnt have to be uber complex or anything and it wont be used outside of a theory lab (so no encryption required). The only stipulations are:

1)have a binary search tree, or more advanced data structures, to store the user names and passwords. A list is not acceptable in this asignment
2) validate usernames and passwords
3) give meaningul interaction with the user

Anything else is just gravy.

I cant get my head around the node having 2 data types for comparison. Any ideas on how to compare firstly JUST the username to see if it exists and then compare the password if it does indeed exist.

Thanks in advance all.

No, I am implying that I'd be happy with averting future conflicts through Iran's development of an effective deterrent. The concept of MAD (on a smaller scale, granted) will apply and military action will no longer be an option.

Korriken above your post makes a good point on this.

Thats done nothing to calm matters. Surely they cant be trusted with nukes when they'd rather inflame a situation rather than defuse it?
Iran detained several armed, British soldiers who illegally entered the country; however, it did not harm them. The US and the UK, on the other hand, illegally invaded a sovereign nation, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians. Who do you trust with nukes, again?

"...but big Iranian boats came and took the two boats with their crews to the Iranian waters."

With military grade GPS, I cant see the coallition forces being off course and straying into Iranin waters. There has to be a border somewhere, and if youre going to detain people for being near it then I cant say it seems like behaviour becoming of an aspiring nuclear power.

The same applies to the US. To prevent an egregious abuse of power (ie, the invasion of Iraq), a bulwark needs to be fashioned to resist an American incursion. The optimal choice would be a nuclear-armed Iran. It's not a choice between good and bad; it's a choice between bad and worse.

I might be missing the point, but are you implying that you'd be happy with Iran developing and deploying nuclear devices against your countrymen in any future conflict?

I know not all of America wanted the Iraq conflict, lord knows neither did the UK, but allowing a nation in an unstable position to aquire nuclear arms cant be logical. They would be looking at the international situation and getting jittery with American forces so close. Then, they snatch coalition troops from a ship (apparently in Iraqi waters).

Thats done nothing to calm matters. Surely they cant be trusted with nukes when they'd rather inflame a situation rather than defuse it?

You tit,
I don't give a fuck about the brits. Once their horrible tooth reputation (Which is actually true, people. I've been to the U.K.) disappears, and they stop deep frying almost every fucking thing that they eat, I think I might actually consider listening to their advice on health issues. Until then, God bless America.

I miss the days when you had left the forum. Were you banned or something? If so please repeat whatever action got you said ban.

Slightly jingoistic humour can be quite funny coming from established comedians in a contexts where comedy is expected. Random slandering of other countries however, serves no purpose, comedic or otherwise, and is out of place on a politics discussion board.

You should be trying to make intellegent arguments to back up whatever your preferred viewpoint is, not lashing out because of your relative insignificance.

Now for rational thoughts:
1)The horrible tooth reputation is not deserved. Ignorant Americans view Brits as having 4 yellow rotten teeth between a family of 5, but really, were no worse than you lot. I dont care if "youve been to the UK". I live there chief. I think I know my country better than you, with youre knowledge obtained on a fleeting visit.

2)Click.

The list contains 20 UK specific fast food eateries. On the US list, that doesnt even take you out of the "b"s. So we fry everything we eat? How do you cook your food then. Judging by the list and following your logic, you lot must fry everything thrice!

Stop relying on stereotypes for your information. It has given you a twisted world view.

There now follows an apology to all Americans except Dre-Man for slandering your countries wide choice of eateries ... Sorry guys.
