Response to: Editing Video Posted November 14th, 2006 in Game Development

If your computer came with even a basic video editor, you should be able to do snapshots of every frame. Failing that just open a full screen video player and do screen captures.

On a similar topic, once youve imported a video into flash, how do you handle it. I tried it once and couldnt seem to get audio to sync or draw on top of the video.

Response to: If you speak English, you're racist Posted November 6th, 2006 in Politics

I guess it was only a matter of time before something as stupid as this happened.
Now im not racist. We're all humans, why differentiate to a level where one group tries to portray another as less than so. But it has to be said Britain is now a country where the minorites have the power. Ill respect almost any religion you can name (except scientology) but just as an example, think of the young Islamic women who refuse to take off their full length veils / robes in schools. Does anyone remember the case that got as far as the European Courts to fight for "human rights"?
The point of a uniform is to keep children equal at a time in thir life where image and the culture of "one-upsmanship" is king. By keeping them equal, this factor is reduced if not eliminated, and most kids can have their human right to an education.
The basic upshot of this rant is that just because you are a minority, doesnt mean you are discriminated against. You are in a different culture. You have to adapt to that. Britain is a predominately white country, and predominately western. Thus should define the appropriate behaviour. Adaptation is not discrimination.

Response to: Music problems in my game Posted November 6th, 2006 in Game Development

Kind of a workaround, but you could get an audio editing program and cut the song where it stops and cut another version to start when your second movie clip does. Although this wont work if your clips are for a random length of time, only fixed duration

Paint the whites of the eyes first. It doesnt matter how sloppy you get because youve still got the flesh colours to go on. Then use a pin dipped in black paint to do the pupils

Now recruiting for the Imperial Guard. Im making a flash on the role of commissars in the imperial guard, and need a couple of people to play infantrymen for a scene featuring the after-battle party. I thought Id offer the parts on here first, before going to the voice actors crew. PM me if youre interested.

Online Libraries Posted November 6th, 2006 in Audio

Can anyone recomment a fairly good, but above all FREE onling library for SFX. Ive been trying to find the sound of a jet engine winding down, but all the free online libraries have grappy sounds, ar just none of what im after. I've seen a few good SFX in libraries, but its something like $6 per effect. No thanks!

Yeh, the path is irregular.
Its the kinda thing a guide layer would work for but i dont know how to get the line to follow the guide on one point only.

Actionscript help! Posted June 15th, 2006 in Game Development

Hi all. I need help with a piece for my animation.

What i want is a line, where one end remains stationary, and the other end follows a path. Im assuming I have to use actionscripting for it, but ive no idea how to go about it.
I also couldnt find anything about it on the web.

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks =]

Thanks for the writing offer. Ive got a basic idea of whats happening just now, but it'll stretch to two episodes tops. Maybe ill even just try to filter out the crap and have one ep of pure juiced BFG goodness.

Always nice to have a veteran writer on board. Ill be in touch. =]

On the subject of fire warrior, did anyone ever kill the last boss? all my fire seemed to be going straight through him;.

Also, my first battlfleet gothic flash is up on the portal. look for BFG Battlegroup colville.(if it passes judgement)
i only mention it because the imperials and chaos need sip captains.

A question people. What kind of music do you think has survived into the 41st millenium? I mean, what can you picture an imperial guardsman having on his iPod40k?

Response to: Exciting Flash Project Posted May 16th, 2006 in Game Development

Ive been messing with flash over the year but hadnt focussed on it due to uni work.
Ive got 3 - 4 months off now to kick it into full gear, then a lighter workload in 2nd year.
Id like to be a part of this because I know what you mean about the state of british comedy.

Fire me a script or MSN me at random_hero86@hotmail.com if you have a chance

Response to: Art Survey: Draw In Flash Or Scan? Posted May 16th, 2006 in Game Development

1) Draw your art in Flash before animating.
2) Draw offline then scan in.
3) Draw in another program then import into Flash?

The technique I like most is drawing the art, scanning it, importing the file and using flash to re - draw it on a new layer. Usually my arts sketchy, so it makes it easier to tidy it up, and tweak anything i didnt get quite right.

Voice Acting Posted May 16th, 2006 in Game Development

Ive been working on a few flash projects in between university work over the year, and now its summer i want to really give them a go.
Problem is, i want to do voice acted flashes, but my mates are scatered all across the country, and getting voice is going to be a pain in the arse.
Ive seen submissions on NG with no voice, just subtitles, then askinf for anyone interested in doing voices to contact an email.
Is this the best way to go about getting voice or does everyone reckon i'll end up with a bunch of immature preteens spamming?
